Mate have you tried a face to face approach?

We took a grad on 6 weeks ago because he was the only one to walk into our office and basically say "employ me".

How did he do it?

How did he do it?

He just walked in with a resume as said "i'm a graduate engineer looking to apply for your advertised job. Do you have time to speak about the advertised role".

We interviewed him on the spot and gave him the job 15mins later.

It depends. We have people ring up looking for work all the time. In the past we've at least been able to give people (mainly students) work experience to put on their resume.

The reason I suggest a face to face chat is that it's too easy to dismiss a piece of paper, especially if its just like every other resume. When someone comes in and talks to you and leaves a positive memory of their mannerisms, it almost puts them at the front of the queue. When I get resumes when we're not advertising, I move them to a folder and forget about them. I delete resumes that have a generic cover page. Always research the company you're applying to and put in at least a sentence about their company.

There's no guarantee that you'll even be seen if the job isn't advertised. However, if a job comes up shortly after and you've had a face to face chat with them (if you can manage to speak to someone), i'd wager your chances of getting an interview at least would increase, providing you leave a good impression and present yourself confidently.

What field are you looking in?

Did you deserve it?

Nah the guys were just methheads really. They were kicking us all game then we got angry and were complaining because they were slamming us into the walls and shit. I am complaining to the ref then one of their players comes behind me when he's not looking and punches me in the jaw. We retaliate and get 2 red cards yet we still win 3-2!

Indoor soccer is full of the dumbest kunts.

My brother was being held down by a guy all game, so he pretended to kiss him. The other team tried to start a punch on every 5 minutes after that.

Most of the refs are retards too.

The brutal reality is that you're likely to have to do unpaid  surveying work to begin with until you can do things on your own. In most industries i'd imagine it's hard to get paid for work experience because you're not really doing anything but slowing down the progress of an experienced staffer who is explaining everything to you. My work experience was unpaid and although it sucked, it led to not only paid experience and then a full time job. You just need to get your foot in the door.

The other option I can think of for you is trying to get in with a civil contracting company. A lot of them use their own surveyors because outsourcing is expensive and theres always lead time. I don't know what your thoughts are on being a labourer but an option is being a labourer might lead into a job surveying, particularly if the contractor you got in with was aware of your skills. Having a labourer who can survey would be a bonus. I'm not sure what the civil contracting market is where you live. You will need to have a white card/blue card to do it. I wouldn't recommend going for a job in construction/surveying without one.

What is it about indoor that attracts the spuds?

Indoor competitions are generally more informal. You make your own team and your not usually tied to a club and therefore their rules of conduct. When you are playing outdoor you are representing the 1000 or so members of your club and most of them know who you are, especially if you are a trouble maker. In indoor you can be fairly anonymous.

I have had the opposition start a fights that brought criminal charges against the opposition twice (it happened to be back to back weeks) where they all ganged up on one of our players and punched and kicked them when they were on the ground. One doesn't play anymore and the other is still recovering from a fractured back. The police are still trying to find the dickheads that did it as they weren't the players that were listed on the team at the centre.

Also unless you are playing in one of the few serious competitions there is no FFA database that stops the idiots who cause trouble and get suspended from going to another club to avoid the suspension. Several place around my area are only just starting to make people show identification before you play as there were groups of thugs that would get kicked out of one place for causing brawls and the go to the next centre down the road.

That's sounds familiarly like the futsal competitions in geelong, had a mate that was bashed on the pitch. None of the opposition players were those on the sheet. And in the informal indoor soccer leagues i have seen far far more serious things happen. Not to mention people get pissed before the games in the bar.
Its disgraceful but 9 times of our 10 just afl idiots.

I'm starting to believe that Marconi lives in a psychiatric ward and doesn't realise it.

WGMG: Ritalin doesn't work anymore. The slightly improved cognitive functioning (I'm more talkative and a bit more awake but that's about it) has been offset by the fact that I feel anxious as fuark, I'm sweating for no reason and my resting heart rate must be about 80.

You should be happy that your wife does all that as she should...

And what the hell are you doing making your own bacon and egg toast? She should be doing this as part of her normal duties so you can read the paper or watch TV! FFS!

Saw an article about kids putting firecrackers in a dogs mouth causing it a lot of pain.

My solution to this is to put firecrackers in the kids mouth and make the parents watch.
