+x+x+x+x+xSo, is Lowry "2 weeks" away? I asked him when he's gonna be back on Sunday and he said "hopefully real soon" lol he wouldn't give anything away. So definitely only "2 weeks" away then. :Whistling: sounds like it, anyone hear anything about Taggart? he was supposed to be doing a fitness test yesterday. A-league website in the ins and outs article says that Taggart will be out for 1 week with calf injury. Jamal Reiners as an in. Thats shit. Citys biggest problem looks to be their defence and I was hoping keogh and taggart could really take it to them.

Yep agreed. Lowry's 2 weeks is already 3 now, Taggart's 1 week is now 2, the Foxe curse just seems to go on and on. We'll never look at our best until we get Grant and Lowry back together, but Grant seems to have fallen down the pecking order a bit, or just a victim of circumstances. And just answered my own question to see who the other 4 of our squad that are not listed - 3rd keeper, Garcia, Williams and Petrakos.

Lowry and Grant were immense last season. Grant was consistent and am surprised he's not getting time before Dino who has imo been off. Would like to see Grant and Williams as a pairing and see how that goes. Or maybe a 3 - 5 - 2 with Grant, Lowry and Williams as the back 3.

I'd partner Harold with Keogh and change the formation to a diamond or put Reiners on and keep Harold on the wing. I think i'd prefer Griffiths and Wilson in the middle of the park than Marinkovic. Victory's midfield got absolutely bossed and I think it will happen again if Marinkovic starts. Maybe a diamond would help contest the midfield with Williams pushed into DM with Griffiths and Wilson infront of him. Probably way too defensive but if Castro is in the hole I'm confident we will have enough creativity. Kenny in an interview said Taggart has fluid build up in the calf that didn't go away and that he should back next week.

Glory started with Dino and Thwaite last season with Grant as back-up. Dino copped his injury and Thwaite chased the cash, whilst Lowry was sign. That's when he had his chance. I'd expect Lowry and Dino to make a good pairing, just unfortunate that Glory have an abundance of defensive players and Grant is the poor bugger to miss out. When Lowry is back I think Williams will push into MF and Wilson will be the unlucky one. Glory going to be hard to break down when that finally happens.

Wow what a game.
And to think Williams and taggart were missing, two of the best players in the team I think.
Normally glory of old would have bottled it and lost it.

Lowry to come back also.
Keep in mind smiljanic and mills still finding feet and could break into starting team.
Exciting times.

Topp of the leagueeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Sydney draw or loss pls.
What did we think of Grant? Once again I thought he showed how solid he is. Not sure if Dino has more leadership out there and helps keeping the unit together and keen for the win...but he gave that penalty away and was at fault I feel, even if some might say it wasn't a penalty he stuck his foot out and made contact. Gonna be a headache when all Williams, Grant, Lowry and Dino are available. All 4 I think walk in starting cbs in any other team.

And as for Williams I'm not going to worry about it until the club says something or he does.

Expect him to be back for the Brisbane game. Same article says Lowry and Taggart have recovered from injury. But I think that may have come from Lowe's cagey post game presser. But still...from that anyway I expect them all to be available for selection.

the match i am not looking forward to in the schedule is the visit to western sydney later on
They play that game at the olympic stadium as opposed to spotless
Even if they get 10000 to the game, It will look so empty!
Im not sure who made that scheduling decision

Mills fans can hopefully now shut the fuck up. Woeful as a left back.
Other fans bagging out risdon last week can shut the fuck up. Man of the match last week and missed terribly this week.
Kenny Lowe has a part time right back in Ryan Williams and he plays Dino there WTF!!!
Also why the fuck is Griffiths captain. He's gonna miss 3 games this year from yellow card accumulations at least.

He was average last week for 75 minutes. 2 goals conceded and he wasn't within 30m of the ball today.

The game was lost after Dino's/Kenny's brain farts. Kenny needs his head read. Two RBs not played in favour of a player never having played the key position. Aryn Williams should have started there with Rhys Williams at CB. Giving a team like Sydney a 2 goal head-start was suicide. Glory left to chase the game for the rest of the day. What a difference things could have been if Keogh had slotted home that one-on-one. Glory was meant to have the best defence in the league this year but having an average of almost 3 goals scored against them when other teams score.

Djulbic RB? Seriously stupid idea.By rights Perth should have one of the strongest defences, with all those backs to choose from. But that was diabolical. It's amazing how SFC seem to get freebies each week.

Should have planned for a back three. If Taggart doesn't come back next week and Kenny persists with the 442 I think trying Warren out at LB with Mills as LM could be worth a try rather than starting Marinkovic on the left wing.
Kenny needs to make changes anyway. There were moments where we looked dangerous but we are too open on the wings when Marinkovic and Mills play LB and LM. Still can't get over starting Dino at RB.

Risdon supposedly set for a early return this Saturday. Hopefully Castro can come back earlier than expected too. But should be good to potentially see Risdon and Williams coming back into the squad.

Today's Sunday Grimes has Stan the Man saying Glory needs a new CH and a new play-maker in the January transfer window. FMD, they need the same centre pairing they had last season they were dominating, Lowry and Grant, and stick with it. Because of their riches at the back, Lowe has tinkered and changed so many times at the back the central pairing have no understanding and that's the fucking problem. It's the coach's fault. Williams needs to be pushed up the park whilst Castro recovers. I would not say no to a play-maker as Glory currently have NFI in midfield. That's been apparent the last three games without Castro and at his age his injury will probably have him out for another 8 weeks until he gets back to top fitness. I don't know what's going on at Glory ATM but something is a bit off with them. They seem lethargic and their skills level has dropped off significantly. The Jets cut them to pieces with pace and speed. Glory looked slow and lumbering. Worrying signs indeed and Christmas can't come soon enough.

Lowry and Grant were the best central defensive pairing in the League in the second half of last season. Williams is too lazy to play centre half. I can't recall seeing him sprint all season. He makes no effort to move quickly and proactively into space when Reddy has the ball and we are trying to play out and as a result, we either are playing out with one less or we give it to him when he is not in a position to be as effective as he should be. I don't know how Smiljanic played for Serbia, he is a pretender. We should be shipping him out in the January transfer window. Hopefully, someone has been in touch with Kristian Vadosz's agent. He has been killing it in the Indian Super League so can come in match fit, unlike most of the January signings, who generally come out of a northern winter where they haven't been playing regularly. Taggart looked awful. I would be playing him in the NYL to get some confidence. He should have been playing in the NPL for Glory over winter given how little football he has played in the past two years, but he probably thought it was beneath him. I like the idea of trying Mills at LM. This is the team I would go with this week assuming Grant is OK to come back into the starting XI. --Reddy-- - Risdon - Grant - Lowry - Warren - Griffiths - Wilson - Marinkovic Harold - Keogh - Mills

Do we even play with a midfield??? I think we really need to start showing a bit more on the ball ... at the moment it is a bit too much hit and hope. We have a fairly physical team, we should be controlling games more than we do ... and keep our attack more compact so that transition to defense is structured to cope with turnovers. Instead of bombing long and hoping that Harold, Mills, Risdon etc. don't mind running up and down all day long (although Risdon struggled to get back some times ... which is what happens when you have no midfield).

Instead of bombing long and hoping that Harold, Mills, Risdon etc. don't mind running up and down all day long (although Risdon struggled to get back some times ... which is what happens when you have no midfield). We sit near the coach's benches and Lowe was screaming himself hoarse in the first half for Nebo to get on the ball. We just could not get effective possession in the middle third and Smiljanic and Williams were the main culprits. (Although Nebo doesn't exactly work hard to drop deeper to get the ball). Smiljanic paid the price and Wilson was a vast improvement in the second half but it seems that Williams is a protected species. If Williams would work harder to make himself available, it would provide more space for Griffiths to receive the ball centrally which opens up the option to play into Nebo rather than having to go out to the fullbacks or, as is more common, back to Reddy who eventually bombs it long. We lack depth on the bench. Reiners and Petratos are not ready (not good enough?) for more than bit part contributions off the bench and Chianese hasn't impressed either. He strikes me as another average ex Sydney player eg Hagi Gligor.

Mentioning Vadocz, I was flicking channels over the weekend and came across him playing in the IPL. He was monstering them. I would not say no to getting him back. Don't know if he's creative enough and Glory will end up with 2 DMs in Griffiths and Vadocz with Williams essentially another. Glory need a super fit energiser bunny to run around the MF and link the whole thing together. Castro is sort of that, but just up front. Need a full court MF.

Miss Vadosc. Losing Vadosc and Sandor was a big loss and our injury prone ins havent replaced them. Williams had a shocking game. Wislon proved that Lowe made a mistake putting Smil before him. Like ive been screaming since after week 1 put Mills up to LM and ffs Kenny stop playing Marinkovic wide. Like to see Biscuitmans line up.
Lowe has not been punishing poor performances and has not changed a losing formular. Has been the biggest culplrit i think for our poor season.
Would love to swap Smil for Vadosc if we can. And would much prefer another CAM. Need a CAM to replace Marinkovic...someone who can actually run. A CAM to replace Marinkovic, Vadosc to replace Smil..and if Mills isnt enough for LM then another winger. Pllssssss. And Keogh and Taggart havent shown enough to justify a 442. Change the formation and change the players. Kenny has got it all wrong and refuses to take any responsibility by persisting with the same line up and game plan.

Pretty much. trying to fit Keogh and Taggart in a front 2 is not working. Time to go back to what worked. Get the same back four as late last season. Stick Keogh up at the pointy end. Let Castro have free reign. Griffiths is meant to be a straight Vadocz swap. Probably just Smiljanic not filling the role Sandor did.

I missed last nights game because of work. Can anyone summarise how we went? Formation work alright...potential? Castro move freely? Risdon gaining any fitness?
I'm glad Lowe tried something else with the 3-5-2.Personel changes as well which I think was needed to punnish those who played last week...but still Dino has been horrible and I wouldn't put A.Williams in a back 3. Looking at the highlights Dino put another soft takle in which I think led to a goal. Week before that in Melbourne his missed clearance from the cross was also responsible for the sole goal we conceded against Melbourne.
Williams and Mills didn't deserve to start this week but I think and hope Williams gets his shit together and Mills is much better suited in a 3-5-2 than Warren. Grant should be back...big fan of Grant these two seasons. Probably my favourite defender atm. Also the only issue with Mills is that he leaves his player behind too often when going forward, which may not be as much of a problem playing as a wing back. But yeh hopefully this line up will click...
-Keogh---Taggart ---------------Castro ---Mills--Wilson--Griffiths--Risdon ------Lowry-Grant-Williams

Taggart and Keogh are horrible together. In fact, Taggart is horrible full stop at the moment. Two up front is not working and it is a big test for Kenny to leave Taggart out now that he is fit. Kudos for dropping Rhys Williams who strolls around like he is the prince of the park. Pity there are no transfer fees between A-League clubs as it would be great business to offload him in January and bring in a creative attacking midfielder who has a little bit of pace and can actually get on the ball instead of Nebo. Castro looked great in a cameo appearance but it was clear that he is getting frustrated with the level at which the rest of the team is playing. I would play Mills and Warren on the left and Risdon and Harold on the right in a 1-4-4-1-1 with Griffiths and Wilson in the CM. Having said that I thought Aryn Williams was good value last night. Grant is twice the player Dino is this season unfortunately so the sooner he is back the better.
