Give Alexis a blank cheque and tell him to write as many fucking zeros as he wants.
Can't help but feel Alexis is also proving we dodged a bullet on Vardy in the summer.

I haven't even bothered to look but a workmate was telling me a week ago that finishing first in this group was going to be worse than 2nd, because of whoever would finish 2nd in the group we'd draw? idk.
Saw an article this morning that Firmino from Liverpool has an 83m buyout clause, but a stipulation that Arsenal can't buy him no matter what price. I didn't know Liverpool had a refusal to sell to Arsenal no matter what - is this because of the 40m+1 for Suarez?

The quality of 2nd place teams are really high this year, but still preferable than finishing 2nd imo.
My best guess is the teams in the pot will be: Benfica, Bayern, Leverkusen, Dortmund, Porto, Lyon/Sevilla
If we finished 2nd: Napoli, Barca, Real, Atletico, Monaco, Juve.

Yeah just means we play Bayern instead of Barca, but a nice way to finish the group

Cue us getting smashed in the first leg, then winning the 2nd leg by 1 goal less than we need to.

So Bayern or Madrid it is then. At least Real would be something different.

+xMissed the first hour. woke up we were 2 1 up. was the pen a pen?? I'm actually interested in peoples thoughts on the pen. Personally I didn't think it was a foul. I moreso put it down to the angle Allen went in at, and his height, and thought if anything it was just Allen's fault that he went in and got knocked in the head. In saying that, I can see how the ref thought it was a foul. My question, though, is if the ref saw it the way he did and called the pen instantly like he did - how the hell was Xhaka not red carded? IMO that challenge is either not a foul, or a red card. I just don't see any middle ground with it, and think the insecurity shown by the ref by not carding Xhaka meant that he wasn't supremely sure in his decision. I haven't watched Stoke at all this year up until now but I was actually impressed with how Hughes has them ticking. He has gotten the best out of the limitations of Adam. Joe Allen & Arnautovic (sp?) must be such a menacing duo for most other teams - the amount of times either of those guys got in our box and got passes away was outstanding. Then you've got the unpredicatability of Shaqiri in the mix too. What lets them down is probably their defence, they seemed to get caught out a lot but tbf Arsenal pressed superbly. Embarrassing defensive line for Ozil's goal too.

I mean it's probably by far our best chance to beat them, but that doesn't make it any less fucking boring.

So many memes of this.
As much as this is hilarious, playing the same teams over and over again is pretty boring. Couldn't you draw Real for once and have former Spurs players bend you guys over? haha

+xI don't even know what to say I try to say "you can't even script this" but apparently you can script it, and it's scripted for every fxxxing year.

Then I remembered it's the Europa League ;)

I wouldn't even call Arsenal underdogs this time. Second leg at home and Bayern haven't looked nearly as good or consistent this season.

Lose the first leg by 4. Win the second leg by 3. It is written.

Well that was fucking disappointing. Had a bad feeling going into the match and unfortunately it was proven right. Paid the price for settling after going up 1-0 and letting them back into the match. If only Ozil hadn't blown that chance with the goal begging.

After 2 weekends of nearly perfect results (excluding the CL draw) it is a shame not to capitlise and put further pressure on Chelsea.

+xAfter 2 weekends of nearly perfect results (excluding the CL draw) it is a shame not to capitlise and put further pressure on Chelsea. Let's be honest, they're playing Sunderland. They're under no pressure regardless of other results. Not the end of the world and a loss had to come eventually, just a shame it had to come right before a pretty huge game againsto City. At least over Christmas we have two home games we should be hoping to take 6 pts from which no doubt we'll take 1 or 2 from instead.

Thought on Draxler? Seems to be the perfect player for the position that needs addressing the most (Left wing).

Honestly Ozil and Sanchez, if they're smart, will be running away from us as quick as possible in the summer.
Also about time Gibbs, or anyone else for that matter, replaces Monreal.
