In the face of widespread condemnation and with another show-cause notice issued to their club, Western Sydney Wanderers fan group, the Red and Black Bloc, are refusing to back down after a homophobic banner was unfurled during the weekend’s Sydney derby. The Wanderers, who ended Sydney FC’s unbeaten streak with a 1-0 victory at ANZ Stadium on Saturday, were given a show-cause notice by Football Federation Australia on Monday night after banners depicting Sky Blues coach Graham Arnold performing oral sex were displayed by a section of their fans in the stands during the game. FFA branded the banner “offensive to any reasonable member of the public” and invited the club to explain their fans’ actions before a deadline of midday on Thursday. Wanderers are already under the cloud of a suspended points deduction over trouble associated with the lighting of flares and now potentially face further sanctions, with a fine and restrictions on supporters possible. But the RBB showed no contrition in a social media post, branding FFA “dictatorial” and questioning the governance of the A-League in a strongly-worded statement on the group’s Facebook page. “We find it ironic that it takes the FFA barely 24 hours to respond to a banner deemed ‘offensive’, but take over 12 months to even commence an appeals process agreed upon in December 2015,” the RBB said. “Clearly football in this country is in the wrong hands. Football belongs to the people, not a dictatorial body or the likes of so-called expert commentators. The sport doesn’t belong to the FFA, nor does it belong to the likes of [television pundit] Robbie Slater. Fuck off with your pandering to mainstream media.” Wanderers issued a statement on Sunday denouncing the “inappropriate” banner, and said the club remains committed to ensuring matches retain an atmosphere suitable for families. Wanderers striker Brendon Santalab, whose goal proved decisive as his side registered their first derby win in over three years, also criticised the fans responsible and said the club would like to “stamp out” such incidents. Sydney FC have asked FFA to elicit an apology from the Wanderers for coach Arnold, according to AAP. The banner was not the only incident to attract the attention of the authorities on Saturday night: 15 arrests were made, with FFA aiding police in their investigations over a reported brawl between fans.

+xOk, I can't handle reading this thread anymore. So in fear of repeating what others may have already stated, here's my 2 cents worth. Yep, shit tifo. Inappropriate, poor taste, etc. Homophobic. Nope. The good old PC crowd are at it again. It has to be taken in the context of which it was mean't. In response to Arnie's "we'll go undefeated" drivel. So many of you guys ( much younger than me that is ) use the abbreviation EAD. I see it all over football forums, social media etc. So, let's all settle down, and call it what it is. Inappropriate, rude, crude, vulgar. Definitely not homophobic.I'm sure you're all not that precious. Now, yes, some in the RBB seem to have coco pops for brains, and it infuriates the f#@k out of me, and many of my fellow RBBer's. However, let's not condemn everyone for that. Just like we don't get all self righteous ( as many have on here ) and condemn the entire ESFC club and supporter base for the antics from your lot on the weekend. Or, in previous derbies, when I've witnessed anti social behaviour from FC fans that just beggars belief, and infuriatingly, always goes un reported. And the glass house syndrome is in full swing. We can be called terrorist, houso's, dole bludgers, criminals, Isis recruiting centres, wogs....jokes are made about our financial position, or employment levels, education levels. Let's not even start on the Tards brush that FC so voluminously use. As a father of an Intellectually disabled child, do I jump up and down and get offended by it? Nope. It dismays me. However I understand the context of it's use. It's a poor choice of words, it's distasteful, it's vulgar. Does it offend ME though. No it doesn't. So lets all settle. Let's not try and get all righteous and have a ' who's morals are higher ' competition. For the record...I thought it was bloody funny. Still crude and inappropriate, and shouldn't have been used. But bloody funny. As for Arnie wanting an apology. Grow up Arnie, you're a big boy.

Why don't you create a banner of a homosexual Graham Arnold painted sky blue being thrown off a Mosque? It's not homophobic, racist or bigoted, just good bantz.

IF there was nothing wrong with it in the view of the RBB, why would they make a tifo of it? Does the RBB usually make tifos of their rival coach doing other things that they see as not being "wrong" like drinking a cup of tea, doing his tax return, changing the date dial of his watch after a month that doesn't have 31 days, or playing scrabble? Obviously not. So why is this different? The fake naivety is an insultingly shit argument, tbh.

+xWell, it is. It paints the picture of a man swallowing a penis being a bad/wrong/whatever thing. Pretty well. I can accept that the EAD thing could've been the way it was intended, but it's not hard to see why, removed from that context, it's seen as homophobic by large number of people. If they stopped and thought about it for five seconds they would've seen that. Just stay away from race, gender, religion and sexuality, particularly in large scale visual representations. It's not that hard. People do it at sporting events every single fucking week. And for all the crying about the PC brigade and how it's not fair that other people have opinions about your actions that's just the fucking world we live in. Regardless of which sport it happens in this kind of crap always ends up with negative coverage in the media and it's always going to provoke a response from the governing body. Swim against the stream all you want, but don't sook when you get swept out to sea.

That's why context is important. You remove it from the intended context, you call it homophobic. That's your choice. Again, I'm not defending the banner. I'm just sick of people trying to be moral crusaders, pc and social justice campaigners. If that's your cup of tea, good on you. But hey, there's people, like me, with a sense of humour, who take no offence to it. I understand your 'plight', but I call bullshit on it. Now you'll jump all over that and say i'm condoning the banner. You'll call me some redneck throwback from the 50's etc. And none of you will think that's bad, you'll all have a few lol's at that, because, hey, that's ok. Hypocrites anyone :Whistling: For the umpteenth time, i'm not defending it. I just think it may be a bit socially trendy to call out homophobia on this. It's fucking nauseating how some of you go on. Remember sticks and stones.
I just hope none of you ever refer to someone as a moron, spastic, fuck wit, inbred, dick head etc.
As for swimming against the stream, for the record, who's doing all the sooking?
Again, ye in glass houses!
Cue further faux outrage!

+x+x+x+xLike I said before, FFA are reactive. Not proactive. You and them help feed the media hysteria. If you're suggesting FFA should be proactive and stamp this out before it's an issue, I agree 100%. Thing is that for most people it's not an issue. It's a media beat up by the like of Fairfax that don't report on the games just the negatives. If FFA start with the holier than thou bullshit and fine WSW over this, we can go back over EVERY club and find something offensive from their supporters. Do we really want to go down that road? FFA spoke their piece, WSW need to say some nominal platitude and lets all move the fuck on Got some evidence of that? The vocal people on 442 or in the Twittersphere is not a great sample. I don't understand this "holier than thou" stuff, it's the FFA's job as the governing body to be that. I would love the FFA to liaise with clubs on how to work with supporter groups and stamp out all offensive behaviour. You mean the fans that actually follow the league and go to games!!!!

Not only that, none of the FC supporters are as outraged at the barbaric, yobbo, borish, vandalising behaviour of their own fans, which all the families witnessed as well. Oh noooooooo. This is another lovely deflection for them. And lets be fair, I'd love to have taken a poll after the match among the families and kids, to see which percentage saw the banner, and which percentage noticed the hooligans throwing crap and breaking chairs. I wonder which was more noticeable? I've got a pretty good idea.

Cue further faux outrage! Me personally, I'm not saying I'm immune to anything or a perfect person that is faultless and hasn't told people to do this or called people out on being whatever, etc. I just find it disturbing that ANYONE can look at this banner, in ANY context, and actively, consciously say it isn't homophobic. That's the sole thing I'm arguing here. I'm playing the ball, not the man.

I'd suggest a giant penus tonight would get less attention from the AFC (that's if you still have it?) Seeing as Japanese men have really tiny penises, howabout a Blue Whales Penis Tifo Penis size for the blue whale can vary depending on genetics and the overall size of the whale with the average penis length estimated to be between 8 – 10 ft. long. Interestingly although their penis is relatively long the average diameter of the penis is estimated to be about 1 ft., with larger whales growing between 15 – 18 inches in diameter. In terms of weight the estimated weight of a blue whales penis is assumed to be between 390 – 990 lbs. depending on the penises overall size. The testicles are also relatively large weighing in at up to 150 lbs. per testicle with smaller testicles weighing 100 lbs or less. During sexual intercourse as much as 30 – 40 pints of sperm may be ejaculated from a blue whales penis in a single session.

There was a blow up whale with a sign on it saying 'save me' doing the rounds a few years ago at a Vuck ACL game. Not sure if the club was censured for that one by the AFC.
