Well said sir.

People are far too precious today. Get over yourselves.

I reckon if SFC won we probably wouldn't even know about this. Typical sour grapes

It doesn't seem like the kind of thing you show when you are losing or have lost so it makes sense that we wouldn't even know about if Sydney had won. The banner wouldn't have seen the light of day.

If 442 ever needed evidence that this forum is a shit stain on their corporate image, this thread would do the trick.

Regardless of whether it is homophobic or lewd ....some RBB morons planned ,and then actually took the time to paint this and smuggle it in.

Imagine ....they probably had week or more to consider what they were doing...
Yet they did it anyway ?

Were they giggling at how clever they were whilst painting it ?
Did they have discussions about how funny this was going to be ?
Did they actually consider what the reaction might be ?
Did they think everyone in the stadium would stand up and applaud ?

I wonder what goes through a morons mind ? Is it like the vacuum of space ?
Every sport has morons ....its just that the RBB's seem to be running their asylum.

FFA urged to come down hard on Western Sydney Wanderers fans over 'homophobic' banner

By Daniela IntiliPosted The FFA has handed the Wanderers a show cause notice relating to the behaviour of fans.PHOTO: The FFA has handed the Wanderers a show cause notice relating to the behaviour of fans. (AAP: Dean Lewins, File)RELATED STORY: Wanderers tell unruly fans to stay homeMAP: Parramatta 2150A gay and lesbian rights group wants Football Federation Australia (FFA) and Western Sydney Wanderers to sanction fans responsible for displaying an inappropriate banner during Saturday night's Sydney Derby at the Olympic stadium.
The banner depicted a blue-faced male, suggested to be Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold, engaged in a sexual act.

"It's homophobic and obscene," New South Wales Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby co-covenor Chris Pycroft said."I think anyone who has looked at it has probably felt quite uncomfortable, especially for something that's supposed to be a family friendly environment."

Pycroft said the banner highlighted the stigma lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people often face."Unfortunately the sad reality is that many people within the LGBTI community quite often experience homophobia in many different forms," he said.

The Wanderers supporter group, the Red and Black Bloc, remains defiant and unapologetic on its Facebook page. They have even suggested launching a new range with the lewd image.

The FFA has handed the Wanderers a show cause notice and described the banner as "totally unacceptable and offensive".It said it was aware of the Red and Black Bloc's activity regarding the merchandise range.

Wanderers chief executive John Tsatsimas confirmed the club would respond to the notice, while outlining its disgust with the banner.

"Western Sydney Wanderers FC unequivocally states - and reinforces its position provided on Sunday after the match - that it does not in any capacity welcome, authorise or condone the display of imagery depicted in a banner on Saturday night," he said in a statement."It is an affront to many on a multitude of levels and is completely unacceptable."We are currently working with the venue, security and FFA to identify those involved."

The Wanderers were handed a suspended points deduction last year after fans lit flares in a previous Sydney Derby. The club is expected to be hit with a hefty penalty and Pycroft was hopeful that would be the case.

"I would encourage the FFA to act and not only just the FFA but the Wanderers as well to act strongly and swiftly on this issue, to make sure that all fans that attend games are a safe, supportive and inclusive environment," he said.

Sydney FC has also demanded a formal apology on behalf of Arnold.

if anything the security company should be the ones getting fined (instead of WS) for somehow missing 2 massive banners getting snuck in

we know how much the clubs and FFA love authorizing materials for supporters to use and this is more than likely gonna mean even tighter control over what can and cant be brought into stadiums, make sure to get your officially licensed 20x20cm flags ready to support your home team!

John Tsatsimas Statement

*snip*

we will not allow our Members and Club's reputation to be affected by the disrespectful actions of a few.

*snip*

The big thing here for me is "the few" isn't just a rogue part of the RBB that the RBB can claim ignorance, claim they aren't part of the group, whatever.

RBB put a facebook post up & someone commented on it, and the RBB replied. I've screenshotted & tried to get rid of the names etc:

^ this confirms that "the few" isn't just a select few in the group, like the RBB always try to claim. The RBB are taking ownership here.

Ban them all.

We are talking about a group that have posted videos on their official youtube channel with a tifo stolen out of a warehouse.  It is hardly a stretch that they would stoop this low.

In my opinion, anybody who stands with the RBB on match day is condoning criminal behaviour and bigotry.

No need to go into an argument about homophobia in claiming that a giant cock tifo isn't appropriate at an A-League game, in any context.

This. Why is this so hard to understand?

IT’S hard to know what is the strongest emotion that’s sparked by the banner we saw raised in the midst of the RBB during Saturday night’s derby — revulsion, anger, or frustration that a certain core group of Wanderers “supporters” simply don’t get it after all this time.

What kind of people think it would be acceptable — let alone an actively good idea — to spend many hours creating a moving banner designed to show Graham Arnold engaged in a sex act, and unfurl it in the midst of a football match on national television?

Let’s be honest, the banner was clearly meant to be Arnie, as the embodiment of Sydney FC, and if we were in any doubt, the message was reinforced on Sunday by the RBB’s Twitter account posting a quote from the Sydney coach along with a picture of their banner.

This is something that has no place in society, let alone at a football match. It’s homophobic, lewd, sexually explicit and deeply offensive.

Arnie has three daughters old enough to know exactly what the banner meant. They might have hoped that by Monday lunchtime, some sort of apology was forthcoming to their father from the club in whose name that banner was constructed.

I know Arnie is furious, both at what happened, and the relative silence since.

On Sunday Western Sydney said they “didn’t condone” it. Is that really the best they can do, the strongest thing they can think of to say? If so it shows a lack of responsibility, a refusal to address this problem associated with their club.Compare Western Sydney’s response with the speed that Melbourne City attempted to put right Dean Bouzanis’s tirade against Besart Berisha. We are a mainstream sport, with a mainstream TV deal and mainstream sponsors. What does NRMA Insurance think about being associated with this, as the club’s major sponsor? And what do they think about the weak response?

The problem seems to be the sense that in enjoying all the wonderful parts about the Wanderers we have to accept the fringe nutters as well. Clearly there are some very disturbed people involved in this, and I won’t accept them as being part of my sport. That banner was premeditated, well-planned and involved a lot of people, so don’t let’s brush it under the carpet. Banter between fans is one thing, but this is the gutter — arguably a darker side to the RBB than letting off flares.FFA need to come down very hard on the club — a substantial fine would be appropriate, perhaps then donated to an appropriate charity. Anything else and we’re all guilty of side-stepping something so offensive.

The FFA only react when there is media attention so I think they will, if the RBB had not done the banner the FFA would have cracked down on Sydney Fc for their stupid fans but now it is getting sidelined which it shouldn't.

The Red and Black Bloc was once the greatest thing to happen to the A-League. Now, thanks to a so-called "rogue element" within their ranks, it's become a stain on the game.

When the time comes, Football Federation Australia has no alternative but to deduct competition points and heavily fine the Wanderers for this latest episode of juvenile behaviour from their fans.

The detailed banner depicting Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold engaging in oral sex – sorry, there's no delicate way of putting it – in the final minutes of an enthralling Sydney derby at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night must be the final straw for the club and the code's governing body.FFA chief executive David Gallop is putting out many spot fires around the A-League at the moment, but reining in the perennial offenders from the RBB must be a priority.

The game is nothing without its fans but when the fans start believing they are bigger than their club, bigger than the game, it's time to deliver a blunt message about knowing their place.

"We find it ironic that it takes the FFA barely 24 hours to respond to a banner deemed 'offensive', but take over 12 months to even commence an appeals process agreed upon in December 2015," the RBB said in a Facebook statement on Monday night.

"Clearly football in this country is in the wrong hands. Football belongs to the people, not a dictatorial body or the likes of so-called expert commentators. The sport doesn't belong to the FFA, nor does it belong to the likes of Robbie Slater. F--- off with your pandering to mainstream media."

They are referring to a Fox Sports column written by Slater on Monday condemning the banner. Slater is Arnold's best mate. He's taken it personally, as anyone would when their good mate has been depicted in that way.

etc
etc

Pretty much this, if they'd just kept it in their pants Wanderers fans could be laughing at the media attention over whether or not Sydney was going to have their record-breaking season run derailed over a potential points deduction right now.

And that's the true tragedy.

The principle of free speech doesn't protect against obscenity.  So yes, you are being too simplistic.

The best response by the club is to condemn it and deal with it internally. The last thing they need to do is to give this more oxygen or make the club apologize. The club has done nothing wrong. We have dickhead supporters like every A-league club. Find the people who did this and ban them. Dissolve the active group if you have to, who gives a flying fuck. Show some balls.

The question that needs to be asked is why the FFA or the club doesn't want to do this?

The RBB is a liability for the club and for football. Football will continue going on without them.
