Masterchef star George Calombaris, 38, 'faces assault charges' over shoving a fan, 19, after he was taunted for underpaying his restaurant staff by $2.6million at A-League grand final

A police investigation has been launched after Masterchef judge George Calombaris was caught on camera pushing a fan after the A-League grand final in Sydney. 

Police have confirmed to Daily Mail Australia they are investigating the alleged assault that took place about 8.50pm Sunday night at Allianz Stadium.  

‘A 19-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a 38-year old man after a football game,’ a NSW police spokesperson said.  

• Police are investigating after George Calombaris was filmed pushing a fan

• A police officer can be seen having words with Calombaris after the fracas 
• Fans were confronting Calombaris about his company underpaying their staff

Same as any other fan assaulting another, trying to say it was just a push is stupid. What if he had fallen over and hit his head, you hear it happen all the time. Ban him.

it seems more likely the case or a direct insult by the video. If it was about staff etc youd expect more of a shake of the head and a f off from him as he walks away.

This is one of the biggest over reactions I've ever seen. I can't fathom how it's being labelled an assault. I usually hate most conspiracy theories about "everyone is against football" but the media have certainly done their best to put a negative spin on an epic day for football.

Media looking for any excuse to say the word "assault" to besmirch the game, supposed football fans here doing News Corp's bidding.
