+x+x+xThis is great for the game. Channel Tens more youthfull audience is just the market for the game. agree Disagree. Worst market to target. No loyalty. Short attention span. Fickle. Replica Euro club shirt wearers. Why do you think 10 is going broke? 10 not going broke see a post of mine above.

I wouldn't be surprised if network TEN are only paying $150k a year, if that for all the rights since they are broke.

Nice that 10 have the FTA rights, but FFA are the biggest lame duck i have seen in a while. They have succesfully driven down the value of the HAL on FTA.They are getting less for the best game of the week compared to the third best game on Fri night. They have not negotiated anything. They have been bent over a barrel and Foxsports have shown them who is boss. What about all the FFA bs about waiting until the new year for cricket rights to be sorted before doing a FTA deal?Obviously more lies. I wouldn't be surprised if Foxsports onsell the sat game to 10 at a nice profit. Next Foxtel will dictate when expansion occurs.. The game is being run by Foxsports.

+x+xOk so Ten network is paying $250k for the A-League, $30k less then what SKY TV NZ pay. How do those metrics work. Because rejecting Ten is a huge opportunity cost in terms of potential future investment and growth. There is no growth in NZ. $250k is pretty much the ceiling. Time to cut you loose. $250k to $270k is better then $150k, SKY TV over pays for the A-League rights anyway and this proves it.

oh the joy...SD for 2 years and adverts...i'll pass on that. I'll stick to the W-League. the biggest issue with this deal is that the national team will be only on SD with no prospect of HD coverage in the near future.

So what I gathered from reading all the posts: TEN buys A-League rights for the next two years to broadcast on ONE. News.com will buy TEN Sky TV paid too much for A-League rights FoxSports will dictate where the next two A-League clubs are located After these two years the Hyundai A-League is re-branded as News.com A-League (ok, this last one I added in).

How can they expect more money from SKY TV when no one was lining up to even get the on sell rights from FOX, not even the ABC.

+x+x+x+x@ SoilIt says it will be on a secondary channel AND streamed. Well I will guarantee you both the Melbourne and Sydney derbies will eventually get on 10. The games are too big not to. It will be interesting to see how it goes. There is a side debate to this issue- Should all clubs receive and equal share of tv moeny? Almost every match for the last 3 seasons almost every Saturday prime slot has featured SFC, MV or WSW, with SFC and MV having most. Should they receive more or less tv money? They will receive more sponsorship revenue because of it. They may suffer at the gate but I wouldnt imagine it would be by much and in fact it may help boost their numbers. Teams like CCM, NJ, PG will feature very little and WP probabaly not at all. Should they therefor receive more? I have no problem with all the clubs sharing tv money equally even if some of them wont be seen on FTA. They are all in the A-league. Here is EPL. Not really relevant but shows how they do it I would prefer prize money at the moment. Something like 66% to Champion 22% to GF loser or 1st, if not winner and 12% to 3rd or 2nd if they didnt play in the GF.

+x@ Bundoora Brah. Well said. No fancy press conference. No ffa press release. Not even a story on the official A league web site. Lowy/Gallop have messed this up right royally and need to go. But the outcome, on TEN, as you say is a good one. No complaints on that. It might say $2m, but the lack of money might have somethingsomething to do with their silence, embarrassing much

+xWhat is Ones viewing like though? Disappointed its not for the main channel It still beats being on the ABC. This is the best possible outcome - being on a main channel was always a pipedream.

Although this is the best possible result for the FFA, it has to be said that One rarely pokes its head into the top 20 of the Multi ratings. have to say that I am half happy and half relieved. the most pleasing thing is that this is only a 2 year deal. dip your toe in the water with ch 10 and hopefully get some extra cash in 2 years. a 6 year deal at the current rate would have been disastrous. you would hope at the very minimum that the Melbourne and Sydney derbies would be played on the primary channel in the home markets.

Remember watching the Bundesliga and Serie A on one s loooing time ago.
I think like Walnuts said this is possibly the best thing we could have hoped for besides the financials.

Yep, when they first launched that's how I watched both of those leagues. Would be totally ok if they went after the other rights that SBS has atm lol -PB
