I would have thought barriers to entry would be low in establishing an e-sports team, so what's the point of buying one?

Buying an esports team that has a license to play in a certain league makes sense. The same resin why people buy football clubs rather than starting in division 10 you can start higher up the system .

You'd be lucky if there was one whole division in Australia.

What's an esport?
As in is it literally a team of people who play call of duty or fifa against each other and winners are ranked in a league/knockout type system?
