A Sydney Morning Herald article from 26 June reported that Harry Ascroft is over in England trialing with Barnsley, looking to get a permanent deal.

"Meanwhile, Central Coast Mariners defender Harry Ascroft has the chance to play in England after being granted a request to go on trial with Championship club Barnsley FC. It's understood the Mariners allowed the 21-year-old former Australian youth international to take time out of their pre-season to move to the South Yorkshire club where he will have a chance to impress their coach Paul Heckingbottom and earn himself a permanent deal."

Requiescat in pace!

Mark Milligan's prospects of a move to England have improved with Australia moving to 45 in today's FIFA rankings.

i did the maths on that today and thought we were only moving up one spot - but then i looked at the forecasts for the teams ahead of us - south korea and japan included - and they are slipping.  didnt know how long we had to waiit for that.  if we win the next 2 qualifying games we will jump further - considering todays movement was pretty much on the weight of the saudi game - 940 or so points.

interestingly brazil lost number one because they played us

Daniel De Silva about to be revealed by CCM

After years of struggling to make ends meet, Central Coast Mariners are on the cusp of unveiling a marquee signing with former Australian youth international Daniel De Silva poised to join the club on a long-term deal.

One of the most highly-rated prospects in Australian football is awaiting clearance from Italy to finalise a transfer from Serie A giants, Roma, before he will sign a three-year deal with the Mariners, where it is understood he will become registered as a marquee player.

His whole transfer situation has got to be the most confusing in Australian football history.  I thought he was still owned by Perth.

i think in this case its more about fitting him outside the cap.  other than arnie i cant think of a better spot for de silva to come back to get his game together again.  although i dont expect much winning to return to CCM, they will again be one of the most interesting teams to watch under okon.  im stoked to see de silva getting a run. maybe he might start to reach his immense potential.

Agreed

Depends, it may just guarantee a decent transfer fee next time he leaves

It's certainly better than the alternative of paying peanuts and leaving at the first sight of a european contract e.g Riley Mcgree

Untested ?

He played well in Holland, only needs to work on his body... And chunk up. He has the potential to dominate the AL.

Huddersfield released their squad numbers today and Davidson isn't on the list and his number has gone to someone else. So he was either released quietly or else there is a deal being done we haven't heard about.

anyone know what word the germans use to commonly describe a transfer or a rumour?..  going to have to go deutsche to find any new info about robbie kruse.

Gerüchte -rumour
Verpflichten -sign, acquire
Wechsel - transfer
Verlängern -to extend
Verlassen -to leave

https://www.transfermarkt.de/geruchtekuche/detail/forum/154

Oh no the Zieler to Stuttgart rumour is up again.  Anyone can start a thread but many post sources too and the percentage indicator is a lot of fun.

I guess one more popular headline word is im Gespräch which means negotiating. Lots of Kruse searches go back to December. It's pretty quiet in his and Troisi's front when it comes to articles.

cheers!! i was going to pm you.  it's been a while since i lived in deutschland and my german has gone to complete shit.  not that it was very good anyway.

i still cant find anything new on robbie kruse.  most german sources are reporting the sbs story only.  i suppose a free agent isnt really a big deal. particularly one that has fallen off the radar as much as robbie kruse.
