Tough to take for Edgeworth, better side in the first half but South all over the top of them second half. Can't say the goal wasn't coming.

Game of 2 halves really, our first half was insipid about as bad as we have played for 3 months, edgeworth deserved extra time but they faded badly in the 2nd half. Game was pretty much played on half the field in the final 30 minutes. Had to be lujic though..bloke never stops scoring.

One of the fox sports crew was saying it was the biggest crowd for an all npl clash at the round of 32 and the 2nd biggest crowd for an npl clash in the entirety of the cup, perhaps someone can check that up, weather would have kept a few away as well, atmosphere was top notch, and the crew of about twenty edgeworth fans up the back of the grandstand were good value.

Below the South Melbourne president were so many of the club’s supporters standing as one, with jubilant players on the athletics pitch saluting their fans.

“Relief, but I’m really happy for the fans who have been itching for success over the last 10-15 years.

The crowd was the second biggest in FFA Cup history for a game not involving an A-League side.

The rain may have kept a few away, but the passion in the stands would not be dampened.


It was often a testy affair at Lakeside Stadium.
Every refereeing call not in favour of South was vociferously bemoaned, every threat of a home attack saw the noise levels soar in encouragement, while there was disgust and frustration at every turnover.

As the club continues its crusade to be granted a top flight licence, South announced pre-match the establishment of the Australia-China Football Foundation.

Indeed, the crowd was as diverse as you’d expect in one of the most multicultural cities in the world, but the familiar chants of “Come on Hellas” were unmistakeable throughout the night.

With the city skyline in the background, Lakeside would provide a stunning backdrop for A-League matches should the team be given the green light for the 2019-20 season.

And with another “dress rehearsal” potentially on the horizon the momentum will continue to grow.

Canberra Olympic's FFA Cup dreams have been crushed in the round of 32, losing to Western Australian side Sorrento FC 1-0 on Wednesday night.

Olympic attacked for almost 85 minutes and peppered the Sorrento goalkeeper, but couldn't find an equaliser in a devastating defeat.

It comes less than a year after Olympic clashed against A-League giant Sydney FC in an FFA Cup semi-final in Canberra.

But they couldn't repeat their heroics of last year, conceding a goal in the sixth minute and spending the rest of the matching trying to level the score.

Olympic has lost just one game in the Capital Football premier league competition, scoring 44 goals in their 11 wins as they charge towards another league championship.

The league championship and a grand final triumph will be their main focus after being stunned by Sorrento.

The players will have minimal time to lick their wounds, flying back to Canberra on Thursday before playing against Woden-Weston FC in a Capital Football fixture on Sunday.

also that's correct second biggest crowd attendance at any previous NPL v NPL FFA Cup final rounds tie.

was a good game fair result in the end South did deserve their win.

Great game with a great atmosphere. Keyboard warriors such as yourselves can spin it any way they want, but the facts are there. 

Few nerves in the 1st half by our players which let Edgeworth look more dangerous than what they were. 2nd half was a different story.

Great to get the win and into the round of 16.

crowd was on fire, honestly right now probably only 3-4 clubs in the country that could better that atmosphere last night, non stop from start to finish.
