By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

We'll give the last 10 minutes sm look more likely but feel for eagles. Tough to lose on basically the last kick of the game.

Tough to take for Edgeworth, better side in the first half but South all over the top of them second half. Can't say the goal wasn't coming.

Game of 2 halves really, our first half was insipid about as bad as we have played for 3 months, edgeworth deserved extra time but they faded badly in the 2nd half. Game was pretty much played on half the field in the final 30 minutes. Had to be lujic though..bloke never stops scoring.

One of the fox sports crew was saying it was the biggest crowd for an all npl clash at the round of 32 and the 2nd biggest crowd for an npl clash in the entirety of the cup, perhaps someone can check that up, weather would have kept a few away as well, atmosphere was top notch, and the crew of about twenty edgeworth fans up the back of the grandstand were good value.

FFA Cup: South Melbourne reach round of 16 after Milos Lujic heads home late against Edgeworth Eagles LEO Athanasakis stood silently, taking in the scenes as he leant out the open window high in the Lakeside Stadium grandstand. Below the South Melbourne president were so many of the club’s supporters standing as one, with jubilant players on the athletics pitch saluting their fans. Only minutes before most of the fingernails of the 2622 in attendance would have been chewed to the quick, the score locked at 0-0. Milos Lujic proved the matchwinner for South. But after Milos Lujic headed home the latest of winners from a corner, South — the four-time National Soccer League champion — was bound for the second round of the FFA Cup. The club said Wednesday night’s round of 32 clash with Edgeworth Eagles was a dress rehearsal for its A-League bid. But in the moment, the win in the Cup was all that mattered. “That was unbelievable,” Athanasakis said. “Relief, but I’m really happy for the fans who have been itching for success over the last 10-15 years. “They’ve been out in the wilderness, but now they feel a part of Australian football. “Onwards and upwards now, let’s hope we get another home draw and it’ll be even bigger next time.” The crowd was the second biggest in FFA Cup history for a game not involving an A-League side. The rain may have kept a few away, but the passion in the stands would not be dampened. It was often a testy affair at Lakeside Stadium. Every refereeing call not in favour of South was vociferously bemoaned, every threat of a home attack saw the noise levels soar in encouragement, while there was disgust and frustration at every turnover. As the club continues its crusade to be granted a top flight licence, South announced pre-match the establishment of the Australia-China Football Foundation. Indeed, the crowd was as diverse as you’d expect in one of the most multicultural cities in the world, but the familiar chants of “Come on Hellas” were unmistakeable throughout the night. With the city skyline in the background, Lakeside would provide a stunning backdrop for A-League matches should the team be given the green light for the 2019-20 season. And with another “dress rehearsal” potentially on the horizon the momentum will continue to grow. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/football/ffa-cup-south-melbourne-reach-round-of-16-after-milos-lujic-heads-home-late-against-edgeworth-eagles/news-story/3c551fe6cb18e205a31e417a3b31a313

Canberra Olympic's FFA Cup ends after losing to Sorrento FC in round of 32 Canberra Olympic will chase a Capital Football title. Canberra Olympic will chase a Capital Football title. Photo: Sitthixay Ditthavong Canberra Olympic's FFA Cup dreams have been crushed in the round of 32, losing to Western Australian side Sorrento FC 1-0 on Wednesday night. Olympic attacked for almost 85 minutes and peppered the Sorrento goalkeeper, but couldn't find an equaliser in a devastating defeat. Advertisement It comes less than a year after Olympic clashed against A-League giant Sydney FC in an FFA Cup semi-final in Canberra. But they couldn't repeat their heroics of last year, conceding a goal in the sixth minute and spending the rest of the matching trying to level the score. Olympic has lost just one game in the Capital Football premier league competition, scoring 44 goals in their 11 wins as they charge towards another league championship. The league championship and a grand final triumph will be their main focus after being stunned by Sorrento. The players will have minimal time to lick their wounds, flying back to Canberra on Thursday before playing against Woden-Weston FC in a Capital Football fixture on Sunday. http://www.canberratimes.com.au/sport/act-sport/canberra-olympics-ffa-cup-ends-after-losing-to-sorrento-fc-in-round-of-32-20170726-gxjggx.html

Berries say bring on Fitzy’s FFA Cup champs!Bankstown Berries downed Metrostars 2-1 to progress to the Round of 16. - Bankstown Berries want to face reigning FFA Cup champions Melbourne City in the Round of 16 – and there’s a special reason why. AS IT HAPPENED: Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32: MD1 The Berries progressed from the Round of 32 on match day one on Wednesday night after defeating MetroStars from SA 2-1. And with City facing a minnow in Peninsula Power it’s highly likely the Hyundai A-League club will also progress in the Round of 32. EWERT’S SPECIAL REASON As it turns out, Berries stalwart Kyle Ewert’s girlfriend’s brother is City star Nick Fitzgerald. It has some of the Berries hoping for the Cityzens from Melbourne in the next round. “I’m absolutely over the moon,” substitute keeper Chad Taylor told www.theffacup.com.au “It was a great win. Even though I wasn’t sure I should’ve even been on the bench. “Seems some of the guys want to face City in the next round.” Taylor injured his quad two weeks ago and was doubtful before the game. But he was thrust into action early in the first half after the starting keeper felt unwell midway through the first half. “There is good spirit in the team and that’s probably one of the best victory songs in the country,” he said, referring to the Berries’ stirring rendition of the Depeche Mode classic, “Just Can’t Get Enough”. BRING ON THE SKY BLUES Berries player-manager Perry Moustakas told Fox Sports City wasn’t his ideal opponent in the next round. Instead he was wishing for another big club. “The FFA Cup is such a wonderful experience. And to make the round of 16 is a dream come true,” he said. “Sydney FC would be beautiful.” Bankstown Berries eyeing Melbourne City in FFA Cup | Football Federation Australia

Roberts1 and YoShuuu, dried up all your salty tears yet after seeing us win? "wwaaaahhhhh" And seriously you need to understand the English language when you hear it as ALL our singing was in English.....drunken English....but English nonetheless.
Great game with a great atmosphere. Keyboard warriors such as yourselves can spin it any way they want, but the facts are there.
Few nerves in the 1st half by our players which let Edgeworth look more dangerous than what they were. 2nd half was a different story.
Great to get the win and into the round of 16.

Big shoutout to Adam Peacock. Colosimo hangs some shade over the Lambton Jaffas and he corrects him by stating that the The Mighty Griff and His Brother play for them and are up there with Edgeworth, top class, very cultured
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.
