+x+xthis is our squad so far... imo it's good enough for the AL but without a couple key signings - CB, CAM possibly RB we are not yet contenders... although a good boss would see us do well. Opinions? What do you think if we started with this? -------------------------------Bouzlekovic Pierias-----------La Rocca-----------Jakobsen-----------Jameison ------------------Kilkenny--------------------Mauk Fitzgerald--------------------Brattan-------------------Brandan -------------------------------Fornaroli Most likely alternatives will be -Cahill -Genreau (who i thought played as a RB in youth but looks more like an attacking mid now) -Kamau -Tongkyik i think pieras at RB in Ist XI is a no go. Need another RB to replace him. He played there last season and didnt look out of place

I reckon Joyce will play twin strikers in Cahill and Fornaroli in a 4-4-2 or 3-5-2.
4-3-3 is very much a Dutch, Spanish, Belgian formation. I doubt Joyce has been trained and inculcated in it.

Give the Pierias kid a go To not have Malik in the line up is interesting. I'll say it before and I'll say it again. He will play two DMs in Kilkenny and Brattan. When City have the ball they are good. When they the other team has the ball, these two struggle playing together in disturbing opposition build ups. They need a player like Malik to break up attacks.

Also played a 6 and two 8 in the midfield.

If they play a 4-3-3 with a defensive midfield triangle, they could have Malik and Kilkenny at the base of the midfield triangle, with Brattan as a number 10 in front of them. Jamieson should at last cover a weakness at LB. I think Tongyik has more talent and potential than La Rocca at CB.

He was better than his midfield cohorts, Caletti and McGree, but as a collective midfield unit they struggled to break up attacks. On the ball McGree and Caletti were immeasurably better than Mauk in passing, receiving , moving into space and handling speed. Mauk's strength was more of an eye for goal.

With the first real competitive game tonight we should see how the gaffer sets it up. Mauk is on the list of players but might not start. You would think Mauk was brought into the side as a 10.

Mauk is 100% much more of a box to box no.8 than a 10. Very good at breaking lines and getting into the box working with the no10 or striker to advance into scoring positions but can't see him playing as an out and out no.10 unless his game has changed a lot sitting on the bench for a year....

Melbourne is in the final few clubs in the mix for... Zlatan Ibrahimovic. ZLATAN. for $10 million a year he would double the crowds.

^^ No thanks.
Given that we already have Bruno and Timmy, it makes zero sense.
I understand his appeal as a marketing tool, but when it comes to squad balance, and his ego is certainly going to unbalance things, I would pass.
I don't think it's a realistic chance anyway, but if it is true I do have some doubts about CFG's decision making.

Erik Nevland never played or signed for Chelsea.
