If the average person stole thousands of dollars from a business they would be charged and jailed. Fact. Why is he not in jail?! Little arsehole.

+xLet SMFC into the league and this will be happening on a weekly basis. Nice comment, insulting, borderline racist but not factually correct. PAOK and Sydney FC are the only clubs with Russian owners that havent had their assets frozen that I know of.

+x+xHahah the Greek story is great! He needs to buy CCM so I can see him come on with his gun for every dodgy VAR call. Greece's top soccer league suspended after PAOK owner Ivan Savvidis invades pitch with gunGreece has indefinitely suspended its top soccer league, a day after the owner of PAOK Thessaloniki marched onto the field carrying a gun following a disputed goal in a match. . . . Giorgos Vasileiadis, Greece's Deputy Minister for Sport, met with Greece's Prime Minister and said league play was suspended, adding it would not restart "if there is not a new, clear framework agreed to by all so we can move forward with conditions and regulations". http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-03-13/greece-top-soccer-league-suspended-over-gun-incident/9541842?section=sportLOLOOLOL Greece has faced an unusually volatile league championship this season, with traditionally dominant Olympiakos — which has failed to win the title only twice in the past 21 years — in third place, behind leader AEK and PAOK. Savvidis, who took over PAOK in 2012, is a Russian-Greek businessman born in Georgia during the Soviet era who made his money with the privatisation of a cigarette factory in southern Russia in the 1990s. His Agrocom company has extensive interests in tobacco, agriculture and real estate. He spent two terms in Russian parliament from 2003-11. WASHINGTON — For years, Ivan Savvidis has been the Kremlin’s man in Greece. A Greek-Russian billionaire, a former member of the Russian Duma and the owner of a professional Greek soccer team, Mr. Savvidis has moved seamlessly between the sporting worlds of both countries. He has a finger in seemingly every facet of life in Thessaloniki, the Greek port city where he lives, and is a well-known player in the often feuding world of Greek and Russian oligarchs. All of which has made him of intense interest to American spy agencies. United States officials say they intercepted communications in June showing that Mr. Savvidis was working as Russia’s conduit to undermine an agreement between Greece and Macedonia that would have paved the way for Macedonia to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Greece has long objected to Macedonia’s entry into NATO. Moscow, which sees the expanding alliance as a major threat on its border, was determined to defeat a referendum on the deal. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/09/us/politics/russia-macedonia-greece.htmlWe definitely need more Greeks and Russian owners in Australia

+xA chef being a fuckwit. Well I never. Can we blame the FFA for unpaid wages at Colombaris' restaurant? Doubt it. But we could ask them why he hasn't been banned for 5 years. Or is there a seperate set of rules for TEN/FOX employees

The president of Greek club PAOK Salonika has apologised after he came on to the pitch with a gun during his side's match on Sunday. . . "My only aim was to protect tens of thousands of PAOK fans from provocation, riots and human casualties," Savvidis added. . . "Unfortunately, my family and I, as well as my colleagues, have been taken hostage by a totally sick football status quo.

Assault costs chef $750,000 Calombaris said he lost two key ambassadorship roles within two days of the incident being televised, including a $250,000 deal with Bulla Dairy and close to half a million dollars a year from the motor group ULR. But Calombaris said the emotional impact was greater than the financial consequences and admitted he had hurt the victim, his family, friends, stakeholders and business partners. He also said he recognised that he was a role model and that he was working towards "being a better man".

+x+x+xAn FFA spokesman said its banning process is independent of legal decisions. 'Under our regulations, a person is allowed to attend an FFA sanctioned event until such time that a ban has been imposed,' an FFA spokesman said. 'In relation to the banning of spectators by FFA, it is important to understand that there is a formal system in place, with clear criteria, which includes an appeal mechanism.' Whether he is guilty of a crime is irrelevant. The FFA have form for banning fans regardless of whether they are legally at fault or not and if this wage theft prick was a non-celebrity fan then he would have got a 5 year ban without question.

He pleaded guilty to the assault in August.
In October, the court heard Calombaris - a chef, restaurateur and judge on cooking show MasterChef - feels "regret, remorse and shame" over his actions. He has faced significant consequences since the incident, including media attention and losing a $300,000 ambassadorship. Magistrate Peter Miszalski Miszalski recorded a conviction for common assault when he gave Calombaris a $1000 fine, and Calombaris immediately lodged an appeal against the sentence
In the District Court on Wednesday, Calombaris had his conviction set aside and was given a 12-month good behaviour bond. Judge Andrew Scotting found the offence was proven, but Calombaris' "exceptional" character, lack of criminal record and punishment outside the court - including being dropped from an ambassadorial role - meant he could be discharged without a conviction. Calombaris' hands shook as Judge Scotting delivered his judgement and he appeared relieved as he shook hands with his lawyer afterwards. Speaking outside the court, Calombaris spoke from printed palm cards as he said he was glad the matter was finally over. "I still remain deeply remorseful for my actions. As I previously stated, I sincerely apologise to everyone involved." http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/george-calombaris-has-assault-conviction-overturned-on-appeal-20180131-h0r36l.html

Celebrity chef George Calombaris thought a teenager was insulting his mother when he assaulted him after the A-League grand final in May, a court has heard. Calombaris, who appears in Channel Ten reality TV show Masterchef, was due to be sentenced today for assaulting the 19-year-old Sydney FC fan in the stands of the Sydney Football Stadium. However, Downing Centre Local Court magistrate David Price declined to pass sentence without the assistance of a pre-sentence report.Mr Price said the assault took place in public and was a "serious crime"."The accused pointed at the victim and said 'you're a big-mouthed man you dodgy c***'," Mr Price said."He then punched him in the lower abdomen." The 38-year-old pleaded guilty to common assault via his lawyer last month after video emerged of him confronting the fan, then being ushered away by police.
In the video, Calombaris shakes his Melbourne Victory scarf at the victim, who was yelling abuse.Calombaris then approached the man and shoved him in the chest. His lawyer, Pat Conaghan said Calombaris thought the teenager was insulting his mother."He expressed that he believed the victim had called his mother a c*** and took offence to that," Mr Conaghan said. He asked the court to impose community service."For someone with no prior offences, this is on the low end of the criminal calendar," he said. But Mr Price disagreed and ordered a pre-sentence report in order, which would highlight any extenuating circumstances that could impact the sentence.Calombaris will be sentenced in six weeks. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-09-08/george-calombaris-sentence-for-assault-delayed/8885064Some restaurant staff still not paid entitlementsMeanwhile, Calombaris's restaurant empire has been criticised for failing to meet a deadline to back pay former staff who were underpaid and did not receive their entitlements. In April, Calombaris apologised after 162 of his company Made Establishment Group's 430 employees — including staff at his Melbourne restaurants The Press Club, Gazi and Hellenic Republic — were short-changed a total of $2.6 million. On Thursday, the company released a statement that said former staff were still waiting for payments."We understand the frustration of our former employees and have apologised for our past poor systems and processes that resulted in employees not being paid their full entitlements under the award. We are committed to resolving this as quickly as possible," it said."We have also taken action to try and speed up the process and reduce delays. We have employed additional resources to help in calculating and reconciling the entitlements, some of which go back six years."Each week we continue to process payments of claims from former employees."A spokeswoman for the Fair Work Ombudsman said it was understood the majority of wage reconciliations for former employees had been completed. However, those that remain outstanding have taken longer than expected to complete."While we appreciate that large-scale reconciliations can take considerable time and resources, we do not believe it is reasonable for former employees to have to wait this long to receive wages owed to them," the spokeswoman said.

+x+xThe FFA haven't banned MasterChef judge George Calombaris from football matches - despite him pleading guilty to assaulting a teenager after the A-League grand final. The 38-year-old celebrity chef was charged in May with assaulting the 19-year-old man at the grand final between Melbourne Victory and the ultimate winners, Sydney FC, at the Sydney Football Stadium. In the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday, his barrister, Brendan Green, entered a guilty plea on behalf of his client who was not present. But the FFA refused to confirm to Daily Mail Australia if Calombaris' guilty plea means he is now banned from attending football games.
