+x+xAbsolutely belting down. Keeps up like this they can kiss a high scoring game goodbye. Have put $5.00 down on a draw. At 13 to 1 how could you not?

+x+xJust opened the Sydney Morning Herald and Daily Telegraph on-line and not one mention of the game. Under sport, the SMH has 8 prominent articles, being 3 rugby league, 2 rugby union, 1 cricket, 1 AFL, 1 boxing. A massive day/game for the national football team to qualify for the worlds biggest sporting event....somehow it falls below TWO rugby union articles. The game has a long way to go in media strategy, but in any event, surely it is an intentional strategy not to promote this game. Why would people in Sydney care more about racism in Collingwood than Australian qualifying for the world cup. The age old image problem. Our country is fascinated by many sports people barely play anywhere else - AFL and Rugby League are two in particular. Most who don't follow football in Australia think all Asian teams are rubbish and we should beat all of them easily. This is also applicable to many Eurosnobs too. We desperately need to qualify just to keep our heads above water for the profile of the sport. In just about every one of the 25 countries I've visited or lived in overseas, football is nearly always the number one or number two sport. WCQ makes little difference to the profile of the sport in the majority of countries. When I travel overseas to just about anywhere else, it reminds me of how out of contact and self-focused we are - heliocentric. Hey, decentric... nobody thinks Japan and South Korea are rubbish, and they are Asian teams. Please tone down your contempt for your fellow Australians' intelligence, and cut out that negativity...

If I were the Thai manager my prematch rev up would be this:
"Look at Australian tourists. This is what they think of our country. This is what they think of our women."
No world cup for us

Wonder if any Asian team will get a point in Russia, Would be an improvement on Brazil I think so, if they get a good draw. Say rankings stay the same and the top 7 plus Russia make pot 1 I would even give Australia a chance to get a point against Russia, Swiss and Poland. So I think Japan and even Iran may have a chance also. The problem with our move to Asia is we can no longer play an Asian team in the group stage at the WC.We cant draw against Nth America either (or Oceania), But if you can get an African team instead of SouAm you also have a big chance for a point/s.

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xWhat is gamespersonship?... -PB A gender neutral phrase for gamesmanship. Is this you posting as Paul C or Paul B? I find it difficult to tell the difference. What in the fuck? -PB :w00t: People other than men play sport. Whats wrong with saying gamespersonship? I hope Mooy is up for a big one tonight after his illness induced rest Because it sounds fucking stupid. It's Slavic, not Czech or other Slavic languages where the aim is to make the language as hard to pronounce as possible to fuck off foreigners Haha true but no one is forcing you to say it are they. If someone chooses to say 'personship to be inclusive then who cares, no real need for anyone else to mock him I care when it's tokenism and virtue signalling at it's worst. I agree it can seem like tokenism. Hopefully as we move away from gendered pronouns as a society it will become more commonplace and seem like less of a token gesture. Aren't you simply signalling different virtues by complaining about it? how is that a criticism?

Not everyone is a 'he' or a 'she', It just makes sense for our language to evolve to accomodate that. According to twitter that amazingly bad 90's roos kit is onsale at the ground :Phttps://twitter.com/Socceroos/status/904979306664796160

Might be a bit early, but does anyone know who is going to be streaming this game outside of Australia? I.e. AFC Hub, AFC.com etc? Can't see anything on either at the moment but this may be because kick off is still 2 hours or so away. Not sure how early these things get posted.

I'm all for a little rain to produce a more slick playing surface but this is turning into a joke now, we better not be making suicide passes out of defence in these conditions, definately need to be more direct. Not exactly the type of conditions for creating decent clear cut chances.
