It is very much possible that Brazil will end up in the intercontinental play offs Can't see them finishing ahead of Argentina, Chile and Uruguay they'll be scrapping with Colombia and Ecuador

Seems to be a bit of a shift in south American football at the moment. The power seems to be moving from the "traditional powerhouses" of Brazil and Argentina and onto Chile and, Ecuador and even Columbia

I still think 'Comnebol' sounds like something you randomly say when being casually racist towards South East Asians.

They have only picked up 1 point from 2 home games, so you would think they are in trouble. But they are also only 2 points behind 4th place so only a little change in form will see them challenging again quickly. With 15 games still to play they have plenty of time to sort it out.

Brazil vs Uruguay 2-2 was a great match this morning. Brazil's defenders are just awful. Really lucky to hold on. Brazil lead 2-0 but could not handle Suarez or Cavani at all. Willian was the only Brazil player that looked dangerous

Chile getting pumped early by Ecuador. Chile have some easier games near the end but need to be careful. I think they'll be burnt out after two Copa Americas and Confederation cup and might not get to Russia.

Who's going to miss out? I'd love to see Paraguay put a bit more pressure on. I'll tip Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay Argentina and Chile to be 5th.

South America is always a tight battle.
Perus matches with Argentina and Colombia will be critical for 3rd-6th places, they last made the World Cup in 1982 so will be a massive achievement if they can make it though.

Interesting results today makes for some very juicy matches next week. With a distinct possibility that Argentina miss out all together. If Argentina win away to Ecuador they are certain of at least a play-off spot. But anything less than a win could see them finishing outside of even the play-off spots if results go against them. If they loose they need Peru to loose by even more and Paraguay to not win (which they probably will at home to Venezuela).
Bolivia 0-0 Brazil Venezuela 0-0 Uruguay Argentina 0-0 Peru Chile 2-1 Ecuador Colombia 1-2 Paraguay
Fixtures for the final round. Brazil vs Chile Ecuador vs Argentina Peru vs Colombia Uruguay vs Bolivia Paraguay vs Venezuela
Current Table P W D L F A GD Pts 1 Brazil 17 11 5 1 38 11 27 38 2 Uruguay 17 8 4 5 28 18 10 28 3 Chile 17 8 2 7 26 24 2 26 4 Colombia 17 7 5 5 20 18 2 26 5 Peru 17 7 4 6 26 25 1 25 6 Argentina 17 6 7 4 16 15 1 25 7 Paraguay 17 7 3 7 19 24 -5 24 8 Ecuador 17 6 2 9 25 26 -1 20 9 Bolivia 17 4 2 11 14 34 -20 14 10 Venezuela 17 1 6 10 18 35 -17 9

As a long suffering Peruvian, all we could is park the bus against the Argies and only good goal keeping and poor finishing kept us in it today. We had 3 of our first 11 out today, but Argentina still should really have buried us.
A win against Colombia in the last game is a must. Can't rely on other results. The whole country would go off!

That is so tight. Insane. Argentina must win as I can't see Paraguay losing. A draw for Colombia would be enough as Paraguay have much worse goal difference and Peru would still be below them. Chile needing to prevent a loss in Brazil are in trouble.

TiebreakersIn league format, the ranking of teams in each group is based on the following criteria (regulations Articles 20.6 and 20.7): [16]- Points (3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss)
- Overall goal difference
- Overall goals scored
- Points in matches between tied teams
- Goal difference in matches between tied teams
- Goals scored in matches between tied teams
- Away goals scored in matches between tied teams (if the tie is only between two teams in home-and-away league format)
- Fair play points
- first yellow card: minus 1 point
- indirect red card (second yellow card): minus 3 points
- direct red card: minus 4 points
- yellow card and direct red card: minus 5 points
- Drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee
It is quite possible that goal difference, goals scored and H2H are potentially going to decide 4th and/or 5th spot between Chile, Colombia, Peru, Argentina and Paraguay.
On the most relevant H2H's Chile defeated Peru 4-3 and 2-1 which could be decisive if they both manage end up on 26 points and with a +1 GD and the same goals scored, although if both Argentina and Paraguay win on MD18 then 26 points won't be enough to finish 5th and make the playoff in any case.
