Could never compete with NRL and AFL venue availability, TV deal would be far less as Fox already has heaps of content for winter. Youre also massively shortening the league leading to a far bigger offseason when we already have one of the biggest offseasons in world football. In short a move youre proposing would kill the sport here.

1. So who are all these foreigners in the league right now? 2. Why would established players in these leagues, who are already established internationals ,decide to come down here to play during the off-season? 3. Why do A-League clubs needs to be sold to EPL clubs, especially when most have no interest in Australian or international football aside from CFG?4. Like who? And why would big brands now be interested in the HAL if we're on the same time as AFL and NRL? 5. We have the longest off-season in the world. 6. They would still be interested in football even if it wasn't in winter. You do realise kids like different codes like AFL and NRL and this new format would be clashing with it? 7. I can't speak to scouts but I would think it's the geographical distance here would be the bigger barrier. 8. Venue clash from AFL/NRL. Fields would a complete disaster. Just ask what Sydney FC and Brisbane Roar as to what they have to deal with. 9. That's what NPL and NYL are for. 10. I doubt it since we're in the middle of the AFL and NRL seasons. 11. And we should compete against Super Rugby when we don't have to because? 12. "I am sure die hard football fans would not support the short season - but I think it could build the game in Australia and NZ?" Go develop your own country's football and stop leeching off us, you welfare queen. In short, this post is not well thought out and does not take into account all the shit we as a code have to deal with.

That sounds like a very gimmicky league, my interest as a football fan is to have a legitimate top tier professional football league. I don't really worry about Europe when thinking about Aus football, we need to follow there league models, because they work.
Secondly, you made conclusions without actual evidence suggesting that those measures will actually help crowds. I assure you if the league changed that way, die hard a league fans willl disappear, Those fans are have made it to where it is now.
I don't think the answer to growing our games is too appeal solely to as you say part time fans.
In my opinion, crowds and interest with grow with more clubs, more derbies, higher quality of players (which we are seeing every season), transfers, transfer fees and loans between a league clubs, promotion and relegation, the odd marquee, Asian champion league victories .

How about an off season tournament in one Aust city in the EPL/European off season? It just seems football is huge in the world and well supported by Aussie/NZ school age players - but the professional competition is almost invisible. The average age of the Roar is 32 or 33. Somehow to attract young exciting players down here would be good I think.

That is a polite and well put answer. I was just floating an outside the square idea. How about the winner of the A League (or the top 2 or 4) goes into a regional Asian playoff? Cricket has the Twenty20 Champions league where the top district teams for Aus, NZ etc play off in India.

The top teams from the HAL already play in the AFC (Asian) Champions League. It does not carry the same weight as continental comps in europe but is a good compition. Once ago there was the Pan Am tournament but players and trams won't take it too seriously unless someone puts up mega bucks and clubs and players really value there off seasons since they get tired after a long season.
Not to mention June July is internationals season.
