+x+x+xWe haven't been getting much air time over the last 3 weekends while the RLWC2017 has been on. Oh just stop. Does reality worry you? I'd love it if football was the main interest of people in this country but its not, and it shows. So where is the 30 consecutive weeks of "clean air" the sport is looking for? Football is not a main interest and it is a looooooooong way off ever being a main interest. The important contrast between now and pre 2003 is we have money, commercial support and more appeal amongst existing fans There is enough there for us to work with our own fans and our own funding. But that's not enough for the FFA They literally do not want to put a single ad out until 2 days after the major football codes have finished, and 3 days before the season launch. And nothing changes in this window. It didn't this season, it didn't last season, it didn't the season before. And my stats are a bit hazy but I'm pretty sure the season before that the Australian media wasn't lining up to cover our code The game is more accessible today and more popular today. It is on media and programs unimaginable during the NSL. But that's as good as it gets Its hard to claim that people don't know about the A League. This is an apathy problem, not an ignorance problem. Moving the A League from SBS to One didn't make people start caring about it There is always sport being played in this country. The leagues we see every week, and the one off tournaments or events. The A League simply has to be part of this. Since season 6 finished it has never by any stretch of the imagination attempted this. And now we are paying for this We have lost funding, there is 0 hype, no expansion, and 2 of the biggest teams are shit kicking at the foot of the table with a duck egg in the wins column so smaller teams get their shot at a title Ratings are down. That means the potential of the sport is not being met. Its easy to blame other factors or pretend such a time never existed but the sport has lost its appeal

So victory v Brisbane got around 115k fox and one combined? Sheesh.
League World Cup has been a bit of an afterthought as well.
You can't even count on a post World Cup qualification spike if we get through like 2005 as we are clear favourites and qualification is expected this time around.

Maybe the media would pay attention to us if there was absolutely no other sport on at the same time !!11!!!111

+x+xOn Foxtel One doesn't appear on the first page ,whereas SBS does So what? Why would people with Foxtel watch the game on SBS? And what about the 70% of the population who don't have Foxtel? These "don't know about it" excuses are pretty poor The A League has been around for 13 years. It hits the media 2-3 times a week for most of the year. It has also had high profile players, matches, and friendlies. If somebody doesn't know about the A League its because they have zero interest in the sport, or no interest outside of the national teams. For those who have an interest in the league anywhere else on the spectrum, you would think they would have asked the question "where do I watch the games" instead of just stupidly assume the A League isn't broadcasted. "Gee Id love to watch the A League but damned if I know how to find it" It has been on FTA for over four years Its nice to think the problem our code faces is simply a case of "not knowing about it" but that's just a cop out. It also leads to putting resources into the wrong area. Why not spend $3m to $5m national "help a mate find channel one" campaigns? The majority of people, even football fans, do not give a fuck about the A League. That's the cold hard reality of it. We can jump from channel to channel but it doesn't address the actual issue 3 years ago the numbers were about 150k-175k (plus Fox). Now it is significantly lower. Either half the FTA audience found another means to follow the game when SBS dumped the coverage to SD or they have walked away from the game for good (less likely). Not only that but now attendance numbers are also dropping and even Fox ratings Fix the A League, and you'll see a fix in the FTA ratings. It really is that simple Once the A League has been fixed, no one platform is more visible than the other as far as FTA goes. A myth I thought would have been well and truly busted by now but try telling a 3 year old Santa isn't real Sorry, but this logic is unquestionable. We cannot argue anymore about channel or coverge or commentary. Facts are facts and the fans are tunning out of football. Not because of the network, but its leadership and their priorities. Make more money, not make better football

Im the mining industry, new explorer companies have management that specialise in exploration.Frequently when they discover something, they change management to install people familiar with production. In FFA we have the stodgy metrics people who sit behind a desk and count numbers. If we are ever going to try and move beyond having management that just admininsters a ten team competition ,we need management that are familiar with growing business and familar with entertainment metrics. As an example of skillset, imagine if Red Bull was run by Lowy and Gallop. It would be bankrupt in a short time.

+xthe rugby league WC is hardly sucking the air out of the media Is that still on? I didn't know there were enough countries playing rugby league. They must be scrapping the bottom of the barrel in amateur leagues to get teams together. Aussies truely are world beaters in internationally nothing sports. I guess this perception helps advertisers to sell shit.

I thought rating would be better.
The 10/one deal is only 2 years. So no idea what FFA will do. Hopefully the same guys that are there now will be long gone.
Perhaps clutching straws perhaps not but 2 factors may be the Friday night time slot may be better for FTA and that people enjoyed the FTA SBS coverage over Foxtel.

I think even the tongan team is mostly players thst have previously represented nz...its a bit of a mess but a fun concept if you dont take it seriously.

Just another run of the mill game Fortunately channel 9 have decided to do us a solid and put it on the main channel instead of a secondary channel. Lets see what difference this makes

Lets see what difference this makes I can recall 2005 and the lead up to it..... JON [then CEO] was almost daily in the media talking up the match... told everyone going to wear gold.... at the suggest of SBS set up the pattern of giving people who played and coached first choice to but tickets... they sold out ... and there was never a more aware Football crowd ever... before or since ... We have heard SFA from FFA .... its like ... well stuffed if I know ... but its strange no talk or promotion of about this game from FFA ... We had a TV rating of 6.5 million and the WC rating went throught the roof.... then he told Frank we needed a Western Sydney team to compete with SFC and then was shown the door... for those that are new Frank then owned SFC.

Nice insight but I was actually being sarcastic It is very hard to argue any football fan any where on the spectrum is unaware of this game

Its massive only to football fans.I can guarantee if you ask the average person in the street ,they wouldnt have a clue. But FFA can't see any metrics so they wont promote the game.Apparently PR doesn't appear in their metrics.
