Only politicians have resignation conferences. Managers just quit and the media does all the reporting. I can't imagine a resignation coming at a press conference. Let's see. Only an hour away. Earlier than the 10am squad announcements.

Whether he’s staying or going it would need a press conference - has there been anything more talked about in football these past few weeks?

Whether he goes/stays I wonder if we’ll get any resolution on what caused the wobble in the first place?

My guess would be he’s staying and this is an attempt to show unity and kill off the speculation. If he was going, I recon they’d just put out a press release and do a conference later.

On the other hand, there really is nothing to announce if he's staying, as he's simply fulfilling his contractual duties.

Either way there's a presser. Under the circumstances it's no good just to report it in a paper that he's staying on, because it just looks like speculation. If he goes he gets a presser because he has the right to explain himself/give a few a backhander on the way out.

This is a stupid press conference either way. Just release a statement to the media and that's it.
