With the SAASL affiliating with FFSA now, will we start to see those SAASL clubs entering the FFA Cup this year? And will it eventually lead to an increase in their allocation of spots into the Round of 32?

Starting to see a few new clubs putting their names forward for the Cup from Regional NSW. Both Tolland Wolves and Henwood Park from Wagga have said they will make their debut this year. Hopefully we can get some clubs from Albury, Griffith, Western Region (other then the Mariners) and Southern Region this time around. I also saw Mildura City and Buninyong were entering for the first time.

They will have to start with regional qualifications.

They will have to start with regional qualifications. A lot of the regional clubs are starting to like it this way and are against regional qualifications (at least those I talk with in NSW and Vic.) They like the opportunity to pre-season bonding road trips and testing themselves against the big city clubs. With regional qualifiers you are only playing against the same clubs that you do week in week out.

Increase in NNSW numbers announced. Tomorrow we will be holding Round 1 of the FFA Cup LIVE at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility at 10:30 AM. The draw will consist of a record number or 84 NNSWF clubs that will be broken into two pools consisting of a Northern and Southern Pool. Stay tuned 🤳 #FFACup https://t.co/9fEJx9xbjd

+x217 clubs in Victoria participating in qualifiers in 2018. That's the same number as last year, and with 10 new clubs joining the State Leagues this season and only 2 dropping out (Bendigo City & Kyneton), that must mean we have a fall of 8 clubs from the regional and/or metro leagues.

Interesting that none of the Shepparton clubs are there this year (I know Tatura is basically in Shepparton).

+xInteresting that none of the Shepparton clubs are there this year (I know Tatura is basically in Shepparton). This is why I would argue for a regional based round prior to entering the state pool. The travel is insane.
