There is a job going for a correctional officer. They seem to make alright money. Was thinking of applying.

Is anyone here a correctional officer or know someone who is? What is it like?

Any help or advise is appreciated.

Cheers

I had a mate involved in prisons ... he took the hard line approach and had constant issues. But he liked "proving" himself each day.

I think a lot would depend on your attitude to the prisoners. Some are going to be nightmares no matter what ...

known a few people at barwon ptison but have got a good mate that still does it. Get ready for shit hours, short notice for call ins and the higher ups love making life hell but he says the worst thing is that you know when there is going to be trouble but there are never proactive steps for safety, everything is reactionary.

He does say that 90% of prisoners do the right thing and hes learnt alot from it but it can get real messy when they want it to be.
