10 finals appearances in the past 11 seasons. Impressive stat given all the disastrous off season dramas over those years.

Is there a prize for reaching the finals, no. Does it matter in its own right, again no.
But consistency in getting there is impressive, for Roar it’s done in spite of the off field BS

Finishing a minimum of sixth each season is not impressive.

@ MT
Sure it’s not in it’s own right, certainly not in a ten league division, and going on from 6th and winning (an unlikely) championship from here would feel rather awkward tbh even though most/all fans would take it ...
So while one team has made finals for 8 consecutivecseadons there’s a question mark over those that haven’t matched it, what the feck have they been going?

Good point Waz , what have the other teams been doing in regard to finals , tbh they should strip the licences of both the Nix and CCM until they get their houses in order. Can’t wait for the extra teams plus pro/ relagation to happen .

Spending more than they can afford every year, not surprising

Roar aren’t spending more than they can afford; for some bizarre reason Nirwan Bakrie is happy to afford a $3m+ top up for his club while happily playing musical chairs with the club MD. It is one of the strangest business investments I’ve ever seen, he does it happily but doesn’t seem to care how his money has been spent nor can he be bothered to fly over and see a game live - although we’re told he watches most games live on tv each weekend.

I'm one of those old blokes that considers the whole concept of a full season coming down to a one-off game is stupid. Having said that I realise that crowds are big. Champions league to EPL is worth quite a lot of $, but as our code here seems to follow AFL and NRL which are parochial, we should just accept the fact that our code is so much more popular than those two, and we should do what our code does and what oozes sense. Coming 6th - 4th in a ten team league is a pathetic notion, but coming down to the final day is pretty nice ( I actually thought WSW at home, gunning for these finals would bring out some fine play from them. I was wrong! ) All I wish is that we were playing City & Newcastle, rather than Victory & Sydney

@ redcup
I’m not sold on finals football tbh but it is very popular and it’s not exactly unusual in the football world - an article last year cited 60-70 countries that use some form of finals football.
The issue for me is in having finals football we (a) undervalue the Plate winners and (b) facilitate some sides in only trying to get in to finals which in itself, is not a “success”.
In the big list of things to sort out in football this topic doesn’t make my list, sort out expansion, div 2 and pro-rel first ... oh, and sort the ffa out

John & Two Syllable Ross have done quite well with that rabble to prevent their season from going completely off the rails.

What are the odds that each year there will be at least 4 worse teams

With less wins than WSW and somehow they make the top 6? Peak A-League.

And I'm a Brisbane supporter. City has 13 wins, Victory 12, Adelaide 11, Brisbane 10, hell even Perth have 10 wins hardly a big difference. The only two teams who deserve to be in the finals are Sydney and Newcastle, should just settle it between them with home and away.
