If Yokahma is playing some of the southern J-League clubs such as Osaka, Hiroshima, then I'd imagine they would they would they would have to travel at least the day before the game. A 3 hour+ bullet train ride or flight on match day in and out won't work.

Hopefully he picks up an Australian or two. Wouldn't mind seeing Spiranovic, Sainsbury or J-Mac in the J League.

They generally set off on the team coach for Shin-Yokohama station at around 3-4pm on the day before game day to catch the shinkansen, if the match is beyond driving distance. For games in the Tokyo area (say, FC Tokyo, Urawa, Omiya, Kashima and Kawasaki, of course) it's same day travel, via the team coach. Some of the more distant venues that aren't as accessible by bullet train, such as Sapporo and Tosu, usually require plane travel.

Confirmed - still the worst coaching record out of any Australian manager at a World Cup.

You'd be a brave man, woman or non-gender specified human to bet a cent that if Ange was in charge still this lot would've played the way BVM has had them play so far. They are two different sides from the one that limped through qualification with holes everywhere.

Spot on.

Ang was completely stubborn about the 3 at the back formation. We were continually getting opened up by the likes of Syria, Saudi Arabia and Thailand.

This side has looked absolutely rock solid against the 7th and 12 best sides in the world, in Europe.

Chalk and cheese.

I honestly think BVM is doing as good a job as Hiddink did, he has a far less talented squad, I think we may even have a harder group this time around, Denmark of 18 and Peru of 18 are better than 06' Croatia and 06' Japan.

Berts record in this WC should be compared to Pims in 2010 as the groups are nearly identical as far as strength of opposition goes. Verbeek got 4 points, will Bert?

Ange faced the copa america champs and the 2 finalists from the previous world cup. 3 powerhouses going into 2014. Yet we still managed a couple of goals from open play and actually lead the netherlands..we havent done of that so far and played catch throughout.

BVM simply must beat an already eliminated Peru.

Ange was a good coach that punched above his weight and added value to a team that isn't littered with stars playing european football

BVM is a great coach that took a team to a world cup final and got a poor saudi arabian team to automatically qualify for the world cup while playing nice football and not spending 70 minutes time wasting

He's one of the few coaches that can teach in a short time good defensive and nice effective football on the ground in attack. Probably only a dozen or so coaches can do that. Ange and popa who are very good coachs can teach good offence or defence if you give them a dozen games and then might get round to the other parts of the game

enjoy it while it lasts. We need a second division to develop our own coaches of that class

Ange was a necessary force to change the attitude towards Australian football, particularly around the local based players and young players.

He might have been naive, tactically stubborn, but he ushered in a whole new generation when guys like Pim & Hoover didn’t have the guts to do it.

Lol at comparing Denmark to Ange's opponents in Brazil and even Germany and Chile at the Confeds cup. Ange team scored from open play at least. Brave enough to go at teams. Bert's nothing but a coward who didn't give us every opportunity to actually win that match last night. Ange's team was four years younger and less experienced. He also introduced every one of those players last night except Arzani. Ange will always be shit to the haters who will be pretty bitter if we don't get through the group stages which is all that matters to you no matter how we try to play.

I dont mind BVM to be honest. Just because he isnt a brave coach it doesnt make him a bad one, he just isnt the type thats gonna go for it.

In brazil we lost our opener 3-1 to chile..we chucked the kitchen sink at them to equalise and conceeded a late 3rd. In this opener we were content with the 2-1 it seemed.

Ange would have gone for it no doubt but doesnt mean he would have succeeded. Bert wouldnt have gotten us a point 4 years ago either.

Ange was a different coach at the beginning of his term than at the end. At the end (for whatever reasons) he’d lost the plot, sadly that’s what he’ll be remembered by many for despite his early success.

Noticed a few japanese with yokohama marinos flags amongst the crowd yesterday. Wonder what his popularity is like over there. Fwiw the 2 legs against Honduras were pretty dominant they could barely touch the ball. Suddenly flashing a few crosses across goal and Mooy shooting from 30 yards out is dominance.

Started well but lost me when
1. He picked Matt McKay when there were better midfielders available
2. Said that he would only pick players that were playing regularly at club level and then players that weren't playing either starting or pn the bench eg Kruse, Ryan (when at Valencia), Brad Smith (more international caps than club games).
The Ange era is over but we are about to get another deads**t after BvM.

The Marinos flags were for Degenek apparently. His brother and the Yokohama capo were in the stands I read .

He also introduced every one of those players last night except Arzani.

So he introduced Cahill and Miligan, during the 2006 WC?

Kruse, Sainsbury, Ryan, Behich, Rogic, Mooy, Juric were Holger ,
Jedinack, Leckie were PVB,
Vukovich, Nabbout, Arzani, were BWM,

If all goes well on the weekend Ange could be playing off for his first trophy in japan. Massive 2-1 away win in the 1st leg of the cup semi against Kashima Antlers. 6 games unbeaten in the league now in 10th spot and only something like 6-7 points off 3rd. From relegation to potentially an ACL spot. Fair turnaround.
