If we don't beat Peru, we'll go out as the second worst Asian side at this world cup, behind even Saudi Arabia :(. That would be a dismal failure any way you look at it. We simply must win. 

I only skimmed this topic so sorry if posted but for the record this is the formula for progression:
-Points (Denmark 4, Australia 1)
-Goal Difference (Denmark +1, Australia -1)
-Goals scored (Denmark 2, Australia 2)
-head to head record (we tied with denmark so irrelevant)
-fair play rules (Denmark 4 yellows, Australia 3)
-Draw lots

So... We must beat Peru and France must beat Denmark.  IF that happens:
-Any margin greater than 1 goal in either game means we progress on goal difference.  1 goal diff in each makes us equal.
-If we score one goal more than Denmark, while we win and they lose we progress on goals scored.  So two 1-0 games for example and we are through. If we win 1-0 and Denmark loses 2-1 then we are equal and on to fair play, and we have a one yellow advantage.

But got a feeling Denmark and France will play out a dull draw and all this will be for nought.

My thoughts too.

For the sake of my nerves, I would rather Denmark be up 2-0 by half time rather then a dull draw with 2 shots each all game.

I wish France were Germany or any other team with urgency in this case, the general French demeanour is to not try when they dont need to.

I wonder if the boys will be told to avoid hard tackles?

Unfortunately, Peru will be going after this to save face. They haven't even scored yet.

I think like any match there is a time and place you have to foul and perhaps take a yellow. There is no point playing for zero yellows if they don't win the match.

The Aussies may actually take a physical approach if they think they can put Peru off their game or perhaps get a player sent off to our advantage.

My main concern is we need to be setting up to score 2 goals rather than defending for 85 minutes and hoping for one late in the game. Don't get me wrong we don't want an early goal as per the Denmark game but we can't rely on the opposition to concede penalties and need to get shots on goal in much greater numbers than we have in the Cup so far.

think France will come out to prove a point... the fringe players will wanna show what they can do. I hope a 3-0 thumping.. a tight 1-0 for us see's us through.

So if France thump Denmark and we say get a 1-0 win, that means literally , there Goal Difference goes down right 

this could be in the bag , but its simple. win the game

If France win by multiple goals and we win, we are through. If we win by a goal and Denmark lose by a goal then it goes to Goals scored and then fair play.

THE BIG TEST

Denmark will lock up shop for sure. Honestly, they will play even harder defensively. Wouldn't matter if they score or not for real , that is farked. 

It comes down to if France/Denmark want to play Croatia (1st Group D) or Nigeria/Argentina(?) (2nd Group D).

In the quarters the opponents could be Uraguay/Portugal or Spain/Russia.

So yea, not looking good IMO. France will play for a draw, and Denmark will play for the win if not accept a draw. We just need to go out, smash Peru and keep our fingers crossed the Frogs arnt lazy

If we finish 2nd we'll most likely play Croatia, with the quarter finalist team being probably Spain (as they play Russia). 

I don't see France playing for a draw at all, they have a point to prove and with those attacking players good luck keeping them out.

Unless Nigeria thump Argentina by 5+, 2nd WILL be playing Croatia

Glad Kante will play. The rest have all the big Euro experience. No excuses for the French. Imagine a Denmark 1:0 at the death. France will have to face Croatia  They'll want to get the job sorted. 

My worry is a level score with France and Denmark with 30 to go. Both will be satisfied.
