+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xThe blame for lack of striking options is the fault of the FFA for not providing enough opportunities / pathways for young strikers to develop. All blame must go to FFA and HAL. Since 2005 all you wanted was the "show piece" and too put bums on seats, but youth football and development suffered. This was a long time coming, and it's not going away anytime soon, got yourselves to blame. Thanks guy who supports Australian club in Sydney but calls other Australians "you". I see this sentiment as part of the problem too. We are all pulling in different directions. By "you", I think he meant those of "you" who wanted these traditional clubs thrown out of the top league. The NSL wasn't just a bunch of "wog" teams playing at the top level but it was an ecosystem. Development clubs playing from U/12's to the top. But there was no showpiece competiton relevant to "Australians". The strong desire to compete against showpiece comps like NRL and AFL and Super12 lead to this move to ditch the NSL and the clubs. But people with good intentions didn't understand that the NSL wasn't a shit comp with wog clubs who had no mainstream appeal but a ecosystem of development. They threw out the baby with the bathwater. 15 years on we are just starting to see the insurmountable problems this has caused. I'm pretty sure in 4 years we'll be lamenting the loss of Milligan and Jedinak.because we can't cover those spots I don't get who he is speaking to on here. I'd hazard a guess the majority of people on 442 did not support the treatment of the foundation NSL clubs [I certainly didn't]. 442 members support ALL football in Australia. Not just the closed league system the FFA has developed. Furthermore, most on here, if you read the other topics, have vehemently supported a national 2nd division and pro/rel. Freaken is a well known Anarchy Forum Bitter. He is a member of a group of Australian football supporters who hate the A League and the Socceroos, because they thought their former ethnic NSL clubs should have been part of the original HAL paradigm. Many of these Bitters rejoice at the Socceroos losing. Thankfully, the inception of the FFA Cup, and hopefully the introduction of pro/rel, is starting to bring them into the tent. Almost everybody in Oz football wants to see HAL 2. Freaken is one of the most cicil, literate and benign of these Bitters. Interesting he is posting here rather than Football Anarchy. Ohhh and you're so credible. So F***n what which forum he comes from, bitter or plastic. he has hit the nail on the head with everything he has said in this thread about the state of the game. Where would you disagree? I haven't read it, but I've probably refuted it elsewhere. This thread is about Australia v Peru. I'm not derailing the thread. +xJust watched Foz and Lucy the evening after. Wondering if supporters of every nation that fails to get out of their groups have to listen to their own version. Makes out that the PM himself holds some responsibility for Australia not going to the WC expecting to win the cup.Ffs countries with the football pedigree of Hungary and Holland have never won the WC and weren’t even there this year. Imagine having to put up with the tirade from von Foz. Agree. Fozz's "government to the rescue" plea was cringeworthy. You'd think his complaint that pollies are culpable for football's struggles here would fall on deaf ears after govt investments in the game such as the Crawford Report and (idiotic) $46 million dollar taxpayer-funded WC bid. Then again, there's no shortage of Jim Hackers in this country so the begging bowl prescription is always on the table.

Being competitive in 3games work your arse off for what ? I wonder IF Kruse or Leckie would have tripped over themselves in the position of the 2nd Korean goal lol....... Seriously I got to have a laugh after this debacle. Yep Bert did improve our shape and importantly defensively but any coach making the change from 3 to 4 could have seen that due to our playing abilities.

The guy had three months to take a basket case of a team , find out who could play and who could not, then change the whole playing style to make us competitive against the worlds best . It wasn't his fault we had no strikers . Maybe with another 6 months he could have coached our quite poor strikers to score against the world best teams ? Gees you guys expect miracles . BTW...I would like to see the number of actual days BVM and his coaches actually got to be with the Socceroos in total ...25 ?...30 ? ...also for perspective ..we played the worlds no 7, no 11 and no 12 ranked teams in our group....we were ranked no 36. We are a pretty mid rate football team so to do as well as we did shows some damn good coaching .

miron, we know just very hard being positive barring the obvious. Feck we couldn't even poke one in. Basket case correct but I just found a great positive to mull over for now : Panama 1 GF GA 9. game to play. Poland 1 GF GA 5 game to play. but the coup de grace is : Germany GF 2 GA 4 - that is sweet !

We are a pretty mid rate football team so to do as well as we did shows some damn good coaching . Anyone who thinks that getting one point from 3 games in a group featuring Denmark and Peru is 'doing well' is a complete fucking moron. Maybe you didn't know this, moron (oops I meant to say miron), but we're the highest ranked AFC team, yet the only one not to get a win and also the only one to finish bottom of a group. If this is what passes for an acceptable and prideful result in Australia, we might as well give up even trying to qualify.

It got us to the 1997 WC youth final. I seem to recall Australia being competitive in 4 out of 4 games in 06. and we had some Cahill Magic in the last 10 minutes of the game against Japan to thank for it. There is a fine margin between winning and losing. Peru has 3 shots and two go in Germany has 28 shots, none go in
