Well done Brenton on the numbers thus far.

Good to see Warland and De Silva make an impact for SFC last night, need the young guys to keep stepping up.
Any idea how Warland went in defence? Is he in Corica's plans for the CB position this season?

i actually think the 4,400 crowd at the rockdale v sydney fc match was poor. Not so much from the rockdale side, looks like 3/4 were rockdale fans, but only 1000 sydney fc fans? that's poor, especially a match being (inner-city)

"derby fans" happens all around the world Unfortunately This is true but its natural. The small guys always want to knock off the Goliaths. It isnt just regular league games. If we take the top 5 leagues in Europe (exaggerate a point to make a point) we see home crowds increase when clubs get promoted as well as larger cup attendances. Even the good ol derby fan. But these derby fans wont support Sydney or Wanderers.

The ground and surrounding area could barely support the people that attended, even if more wanted to come they'd be lucky to get in. I thought it was about 6:4, maybe even 7:3, in favour of Rockdale at the ground but Rockdale fans made themselves more noticeable.

There was roughly 3-4k of sydney fc fans back in 2014 when they played sydney united in the FFA cup, and that is roughly 45min from the CBD with public transport 20min away from the stadium. so when you compare the two it's poor.

We have heard all the excuses about the stadium no public transport all this and all that but whats the excuse now.

I'd wager most rockdale fans walked to the ground. FWIW I was very impressed with the number of Rockdale fans, but an ex NSL club like Sydney United was always going to generate more hype than playing City Suns.

Case in point, 3,000+ United fans at Marden (and 2 Mariners fans i saw). Marden isn't our normal home ground. Even allowing for the fact we don't have a base location for fans (nor does SFC), and Sydney geography it's still interesting to note.

I'll put my hand up, SFC member but I was in no condition to attend having just had a ACL op Tuesday. I do think it was pretty piss poor attendance by SFC supporters. From the tv we covered just one end behind the goals. First serious hit out. FFACup reigning Champs. Corica first game. Newbies to see. Rockdale a good PL club challenge. Its pretty piss poor by members/supporters imo, no excuse's.

The sideline underneath the camera, where most of the crowd was standing, was at least 50% Sydney fans. It was also hard to tell who was what with a lot of the crowd. I spent the whole game thinking that the group standing in front of me were Rockdale fans only to see that they were wearing Sydney scarves when they turned to leave. The whole crowd distribution is not nearly as clear cut as many would lead you to believe for the sake of their argument. Edensor Park, despite the decreased travel options and increased travel distance and time, is a far more comfortable and attractive trip for me.

Moshtix presales of circa 2000 had 600 sfc, 300 odd in the cove and 300 odd in GA. the club presold 1200 to its members and fans. The rest were walkups on the day. At best 50/50 so probably about 1,000 sfc supporters all up
