"...you’ve got professional teams playing at a community park, it’s a world first.”

Is Dorrien Gardens really a 'community park' as Kev keeps stating?

Or was this exactly the same thing as when AU beat Victory at Marden in the round of 16 of the ffa cup last year?

Is he wrong though?

How about premier league clubs going to play Div4 grounds etc, and over the decades.
Chalk and cheese grounds now even more for todays EPL clubs - you don't hear them bring it up.
Sure I expect inside they say playing on a cow paddock but they get on with it.
Also I can expect some EPL clubs whinging being they play 3 different comps through the season but here just one other, Cup most before the season gtfo.
Musky, STFU - thats the Cup.

You've completely missed what hes saying.

Epl clubs play on paddocks when they're drawn to play on paddocks - aka the teams home ground.

Muscat has no problems playing state league teams at their home ground - he even embraces the concept of it being the cup.

He has a problem with playing another professional team on a paddock, as he thinks both teams are inclined to be cautious and it harms the perception of how serious the cup is outside our own sphere.

Very considerate of him.
I got it jlm in the first place.
Fact of the matter is imo just get on with what you've been assigned to and make the most of it or not in his case.
It may have been an issue with Poppa/Glory but they have kept their lips sealed for the better but there always has to be one whinger eh :)

i think the bigger argument is why these games are being played so early in the season. We have only just started our pre season and only had 13 squad players available for selection. round 1 is still 10 weeks away.

When would he have seen the conditions first, then made his decision to leave players behind?

It is what it is.
Crap game, I know it's early, but thought Victory were very, very ordinary ... and my team a lot worse than that.
Often with pre-season you like to come away thinking someone or something has impressed ... but I just got nothing.
Except we need 2 strikers.
2nd half, out to sides time and time again, then cross it in to use Santalab's height and heading ability.
Very frustrating.

How the fuck can anyone slay Muscat on this issue?
Melbourne Victory won the game so it isn't as if he's making an excuse about losing a game because of the pitch.
He's simply and rightfully stating that each club should keep their home games at their own home ground.
How the fuck is that wrong in anyone's eyes?
Most A-league clubs play their home games at a small suburban ground in FFA Cup games, and on the other hand you have Gold Coast Knights playing a home game at Robina stadium.
Muscat is 100% correct.

If A-League clubs owned their home grounds then I would fully agree.

But they don't, and thus have to pay use fees.

You can't blame clubs for trying to save money by moving these matches to smaller grounds for fixtures that rarely pull more than 3-4k.

Kev does have a point, playing surface is important, but the issue comes back to a lack of a proper 2nd div. If we had that then there would be the potential for more money invested into the smaller grounds around the country. We would see far more suitable 5-10k capacity venues with better maintained pitches.  Considering the low attendance, it's difficult to justify booking NIB for only a few thousand people. Perth's decision to host the match at that venue is totally justified. It also doesn't help that the FFA don't exactly market these matches.

I think only the headline is insulting to NPL clubs. If you read the article he literally says "no disrespect" and he applauds the work that went into the ground to get it to the state it was. His point is fair and valid. Poppa echoed what Musky said...albeit he was prompted to comment and said it in far less words.

Fair point about the costs, however I can't see how it's affordable to state league clubs to do so, as was the case with Gold Coast Knights and pretty much every other club from Gold Coast who have played games at Robina in the past.
Having said that I'm not so sure what the price difference is to say if it's worth it or not.

Rye bread or not it was a shit tackle.

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.
