+x+xThe thing is, if FIFA bans us, the FFA cronies will be chased out of office and the changes will have to be made anyway for the ban to be lifted.I’m not sure what FFA or Sport Australia gain by having us be banned first instead of just letting the changes happen 🤔 Sometimes people are just straight up shit - oops, I just ate my own poop...s for the sake of being shit - oops, I just ate my own poop...s. -PB Right here right now FFA have the ball in their court. Lowy has his legacy on the line. If I were him, I would do the preemptive thing and hand it over to the congress, demand a second division and pro/rel, transfer fees. Then I would say NSL had none of this, I made this happen. He'd go out a hero, save his stinking legacy and everyone can call him the godfather of Aus Football. ATM it's turning into a train wreck and I don't know what he's gaining from all of this, I really don't.

Maybe that's a good thing?

Tuggers and the other NPL clubs probably just want to put it on record that when this all falls apart, it's not on them and they did their part.

An amazing co-incidence of timing hey ?

Then call for nominates for new positions, the election to be held in late November to get people a chance to put their case for election forward. Hold elections late November with appointment to be effective from 1 December...

The requirement is to keep records for a minimum of 7 years. It would be unusual to destroy important records at the 7 year + 1 day point, not least because they form a part of “corporate history”.
Not saying they won’t, but it would be unusual.
Also, they may not have the option to destroy those records. There’s plenty of people interested in them including stakeholders, FIFA, our government and possibly the US law enforcement agencies if they’re still investigating fifa. It wouldn’t be hard to request their retention.
The other thing to remember is Lowy hasn’t resigned yet. He’s only said he’ll go if the CRWG recommendations pass. He’s every intent on staying around it seems.

I am not sure on this ... but in taxation law you need to keep records for five years from when lodged.. if the same applies to ASIC and other records the last lodgement dates could add a couple of years to November this year.

5 years for sole traders, 7 years for corporates Mid, I think five years is the minimum for tax requirements though. These aren’t just tax documents though. And it’s a minimum recommendation. Bob the builder can turf his records as soon as he likes but a corporate doing it at 7 years would be unusual.
I don’t think this is Lowy’s motivation though, I think he just wants to win this fight.

+xSeptember 30 is the deadline for nominations for election. So it'll be slap-my-arse-and-call-me-charlies when we see Stevie boy nominate for reelection 2 days before the vote on the congress changes. Mystery solved, nominations now 3 weeks after EGM
The Members of Football Federation Australia (FFA) met yesterday at a meeting called by Football Federation Victoria. The purpose of the meeting was to consider and vote on a special resolution to amend the FFA Constitution to extend the deadline for board nominations for this year. The resolution was supported by the FFA Directors. The Members passed the special resolution and as a result the deadline for receipt of nominations for directors to election to the FFA Board at the 2018 AGM is 25 October 2018. https://www.ffa.com.au/news/ffa-members-vote-amend-deadline-date-nomination-directors

+xHmmmmm, All feeble excuses as far as I can see If the original abstinence rule were applied, the Lowies would have been barred from the FFA board being part owners of Sydney FC. Now they're backing Lowy because of the importance of the abstinence rule.

+xHmmmmm, All feeble excuses as far as I can see "Walker, though, said the member federations, the PFA and A-League clubs were “trying to come together to find a resolution” ahead of the vote." What does this actually mean? Can they actually put forward alternatives to the CRWG recommendations at the EGM?

Remember we haven't seen the actual proposal to be voted on It might just say 'accept the CRWG recommendations regarding voting rights only' I'm guessing they're discussing how many other recommendations will be supported in the future, and their timing. The new A-League model might be through the 6 month NLWG plan , or maybe it'll be agreed to postpone. Independent League may be put off for a while. The gender equality measures may be slowed down..

Its amazing that by my estimates about 99.5% of the Football community want these changes... yet the existing system is structured that the half of one percent have enough power to more than likely bring Football to its knees... have no doubt how broadcasters are going to view this..
It does not look like it but I hope Northern NSW and Tassie change their vote, I would say to Tassie, Lowy has rejected your team, under our system you get a team in the A-League.

On the plus side if we are suspended by FIFA all the Football journalist seem united against Steven Lowy and he will face the fact that the nation will be told the story rather than just a few Football hard core.
The AFL must be dancing in the street at whats happening.

The Football Federation Australia (FFA) Board has today issued an Information Statement to Members ahead of the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) scheduled for 2 October. The Statement outlines the recommendations of the independent FFA Board, which supports change, to the Members of FFA on the resolutions to be voted on at the EGM. The FFA Board has issued this statement, as it has done so prior to previous general meetings, to fulfil the duty of directors to act in the best interests of FFA and to ensure Members are fully informed. In the interests of transparency, and as the proposed changes could have profound implications for the Australian football community, the FFA Board has decided to publicly release the Information Statement (attached below). The Directors of FFA support constitutional change to expand the Congress of FFA in accordance with the FIFA Statutes and support many of the core elements of the Congress model proposed by the Congress Review Working Group (CRWG) that are reflected in Resolution 1. This includes a significant increase in the size of the Congress and provisions to give effect to gender equality. However, the Directors of FFA do not support some important elements of the CRWG Congress model and other proposed amendments contained in Resolution 1 which they consider are not in the best interests of FFA. Accordingly it is their duty to recommend voting against it. In the event Resolution 1 is not passed, the FFA Board proposes to immediately work with the Members, FIFA and AFC on a Congress model that retains the core elements of the CRWG model whilst addressing the concerns with it. The FFA Board believes it would be possible to finalise a model in a timely way so as to enable the expansion of Congress in time for the 2018 Annual General Meeting. In relation to Resolution 2, the Directors recommend the Members consider the effect of the resolution carefully. The Directors support a consultative process to develop a new A-League governance model and if Resolution 2 passes will participate in the working group process. The Directors will have a duty to independently form a decision on whether any proposed model is in the best interests of FFA and would submit any such model to Congress for endorsement.
