When they said bid for a license...................

The Australian has learned that some applicants have been asked to submit more details concerning financial modelling, money in the bank and what they might be prepared to pay for a licence.

Auction Bidding GIF by Shaun the Sheep

Multi-million dollar licence fees will be key to which A-League expansion bid gets the green light, Football Federation Australia chief executive David Gallop admitted today.
..
.
.

he admitted the FFA had pushed every bid to increase their proposed cash offer for a licence to the absolute maximum they could raise.

"It's important to say there is a range of factors and clearly the dollars are going to be critical," he said at today's launch of the new logos for the Socceroos and Matildas

But he admitted the FFA had pushed every bid to increase their proposed cash offer for a licence to the absolute maximum they could raise.

Reading between the lines, I reckon the bids that have offered the highest license fees are also the least preferred bids by the FFA/Fox. Therefore the FFA have asked the lower bidders to increase their cash offering as to make the decision more palatable to everyone when some bidders fail to secure a licence.

The FFA's ongoing desperation for money, sponsorship and general approval of mainstream media reaks. However, considering that most of the bids have been carrying out a dick measuring contest amongst themselves during the process, it's a good way of getting them to literally put their money where their mouth is.

the highest bidders are the Melbourne and Sydney bids, which is what those parties want. just to reiterare what I have been saying for a long time now, WMG and SEX will be the winners.

i agree that licence fees shouldn't be the number 1 factor, but I understand why they are right now when the FFA is so short of funds. Personally, I am OK with the highest bidders winning this time around as many of the unsuccessful bidders (Wollongong, Canberra, South Melbourne, etc) will eventually be admitted via the second divsion.

The Melbourne bidders don't even have a stadium, there is no way they get in before SWS or SEX. And Canberra is just another Sth Melb waiting for a 2nd division.

Gallop has confirmed that fees as well as other factors are all critical.

No where has he or the FFAs suggested that the applicants fees is the number one criteria or priority.

Can't prove it but

Gallop, O'Rourke, Deloittes.  They'll all be on a slice for maximising the value of the Licences

The Australian with a 60% share in one of the bids is worth $3.47b so I don't think that what happens to a small investment in a football club would be of major concern to him especially as the outcome of the NLWG driven change should be positive in $ terms in the long run.

The final report from FFA management ($) will be given to the FFA Board tomorrow, with the Board now to meet on Monday 10 December to consider the long-awaited decision on FFA expansion, according to Ray Gatt. (Previously, the meeting was scheduled for Wednesday 12 December).

A-League head, Greg O'Rourke, said there was a need to have one more conversation with the Victorian Government after the recent election in respect of the Team 11 "stadium situation" - that is, they don't have one at this point and are relying on the state government to provide majority funding for a stadium in Dandenong.

No surprise here that former FFA Board member, Danny Moulis, has backed Canberra's A-League bid - now that he can publicly.

Its common knowledge. I'd be very surprised if the Vic government comes to the party here. If team11 gets overlooked Canberras chances increase big time.
