Lyon gets the vital wicket of Rahane, this could be a 100 run lead to Australia. Can Vihari do well in his second test match in testing conditions? He seems to be a quality young player but this is difficult for him.

Lyon needs to make them take the ball from outside off if they want to play to leg.

I like going to Starc straightaway. Attack the new batsman, no need to wait for the 2nd new ball.

Thats what we wanted from Lyon. Now Kohli.
Sharp stumping by Tim too. A quality keeper.. one of our best of all time imho.

Vihari looks like a test match batsman, I think India have a very good one here.

I have no idea why India selected a dud like Rohit Sharma ahead of Vihari in Adelaide.

Slightly too wide and full and Kohli punishes Lyon

Head only needed to get the ball to Paine and that was out.

+xTest FanIndia have a bit of depth in their batting. No they do not. Vihari is a young talent, Pant is a slogger and then all the bowlers are terrible.

Kohli with an excellent century, like Pujara in Adelaide, he has shown the quality to go on and get the hundred the Australians have failed to get.

Starc serves Kohli a juicy one to bring up a superb century.

We must be watching a different India, mate!
I’ve been impressed by their pace and spin bowling depth home and away.
Compared to us they have batting depth.

+xStarc serves Kohli a juicy one to bring up a superb century. Survived a torrid time by our bowlers yesterday.. never looked in total control. but kept his concentration. The first Test century at this venue. Pretty fitting it is the current world's best batsman.

Test Fan, Baggers and I, all agree about the quality of Kohli’s century.
He must be the top batter in the world ATM.

+xTest FanWe must be watching a different India, mate!I’ve been impressed by their pace and spin bowling depth home and away. Compared to us they have batting depth. Any team that leaves Dhawan out of the squad entirely - despite Shaw being injured, has batting depth. India has stack of depth. S Iyer is the next big thing... But he meant the lack of innings depth - not the squad depth :P

+xTest FanWe must be watching a different India, mate!I’ve been impressed by their pace and spin bowling depth home and away. Compared to us they have batting depth. Not in this XI they do not. They have a very weak tail. Sharma, Shami, Bumrah and Yadav are all number 11, worse than Hazlewood. Pant is a slogger, so very hit and miss. There is a very good opportunity for Australia to get a lead if they can use the new ball well. Australia have a very good tail in terms of batting, there is no comparison.

Williamson is pretty good was well, not far behind. Amla has a long quality career behind him but not quite at the same level, more at Pujara's level. Joe Root is very, very good as well.

Fair comment about Aus’s batting depth 8-11 compared to India’s.

Hazey gets top edged for 6 then replies with a pearler. Kholi plays and misses but never seems to nick em.

Amla is cooked, he's done. Hasn't scored regular runs in yonks. There is a global shortage of high quality bats as bowlers dominated this year... Just look at who is in the top 10 batters... IND | 920 | NZ | 913 | AUS | 901 | IND | 846 | ENG | 807 | AUS | 795 | SL | 753 | SA | 724 | NZ | 709 | PAK | 708 |
I never thought Id see H Nicholls in the top 10... Elgar is hardly superstar material...
