This could be over today.
India have fallen apart.
Big ask for the youngster to play an innings here.

+xKohli and Vijay are scoring much faster than our specialist batters ATM. Thorn in side Kohli goes. Missed it DC.

Or is it they are more driven? Hazlewood induced two edges..both falling short of the slips as they were played with soft hands. The sign of a sound technique.

Wonder if CA is jumping up and down over the poor crowds for this series. Look around and no more than half the stands are occupied. Where are the swarms of Indian supporters, The Swarmi Army are they called?

Rahane has a strike rate of nearly 75.
Given the circumstances of the match, it is amazing as India are in strife.

Vihari looks like a serious batsman in the making. India have to stick with him at 6, perhaps try and get him to improve his spin bowling a bit.
Shaw, ???, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Vihari, Pant, Ashwin, Shami, Sharma, Bumrah is a very, very strong team. Jadeja can play as second spinner as needed. Kumar is a very good back up quick. Just need to find a second opener.

+xRahane throws his wicket away. I will give that to Hazlewood . Had built pressure on Rahane.. then set him up with the wide sucker ball.

+xI’ve been away. What did Kohli get and who dismissed both batters? I asked you that question as I too missed it. Lyon dismissed Kohli. Snaffled behind off an edge. Hazlewood baited the hook and Rahane took it. Threw out a wide one and Rahane slashed it to Head at point. That incidently was a very good catch.

I think it is more driven, although part of that drive is towards shorter fake cricket. I came into the end of Hrasha Bhogle saying that a lot of the Indian players have come from hardship, perhaps losing a parent when young. Also he said the source of Indian players is changing. It used to be the more middle class city, now it is the poorer rural areas. Good quality coaching is now available in these areas, whereas it used to be only available in the cities.

+xJascyJimIf you are reading this mate, I reckon Paine is currently a candidate for best international gloveman in Ted cricket, even though the South African, and three English keepers, Foakes, Bairstow and Butler, are all very good with the bat. Moreover, Paine is proving to be an excellent leader too. He would’ve captained Tasmania a lot more, if the best captain in the country, George Bailey, wasn’t available. Gday DC, I'm quite happy to admit I was wrong about Paine as a keeper & did list so earlier. I think he is a superb gloves man and averaging 30+ with the bat is OK. I still strongly disagree with him as Captain & this lack of experience shows with his field placings. As I have said , I will never agree with a wicket keeper captain. This test in Perth we have been extremely lucky with the weather as only 1 hot day & we were not in the field. Would usually expect temps around 35d = 45d inside. You are trying to tell me, that a keeper in the field for a day plus in that heat, is going to be able to Captain emotionally & physically 100% effective. Not going to happen & it has showed already when last minute quick field changes should be made are not happening

Interestingly chappeli quoted this morn that Paine has done a good job incl his field placings. Of the 2 Captains his opinion Paine is out in front atm.

Yesterday last 2 overs, Lyon bowling, India on the ropes & you have a number of fielders protecting the boundary - why? Why isn't there a ring of fielders around the bat, encourage a hit if they want to try. Did not understand it all - Smith would of been so much more aggressive with his field placings.

There are no more than 5 keeper/captains in Australian cricket history if I have my facts correct. Is there a more exacting job in cricket? A keeper has to concentrate every ball unlike most of his team mates.. so to have to also captain is a huge task and one Tim is doing admirably imho. This bloke is living the dream.. albeit belatedly.. after a promising career as a young man was cruelly cut short by a freak finger injury.

Ok guys state of play leading into the final day. Happily I am predicting an Aussie victory for a change. Is a good feeling. Still a stubborn partnership to break before we are into cricket's longest tail.. 182 runs to score. India need something very special to save this one. All over red rover by lunch.
I am now making the bold prediction we will regain the Border/Gavaskar Trophy.
