+xI reckon it’s going to be a big year for GKs in the A-League. With the likes of Redmayne, Thomas, Izzo all rumoured to be departing, depending on how many of them actually get overseas deals, it’ll open up a few vacant #1 GK spots. MV I think will promote Acton to #1 as he’s looked the goods. ADL I’d hope they’d do the same with Margush but it’s a little less likely as he’s had less of a chance to prove himself. SYD I reckon will bring Federici home. The overseas GK options are: *Adam Federici *Brad Jones *Jack Duncan *Tom Glover *Jordan Holmes Glover has been released by Spurs too... Didn't overly impress at Mariners, might need a longer run in a first team though

+xFlip side is he gets a move back to the A-League gets back his form, gets back in Socceroo contention ( which he wont do in Dutch div 2) and then goes off to europe again. strongly disagree with this good form pretty much anywhere in europe at the moment will get you a look in, ekspecially if you are already in the mix also i would say good form pretty much anywhere in europe will be more likely to get you into a top league. the leagues in europe are relatively measurable. the a-league is not a known or trusted environment. the best left back in the dutch 2nd or the best left back in the a-league. i know which one is more likely to get picked up into a big league.

nothing new. another mention of rogic going to leicester. another mention of how much celtic are over him. "international issues" ffs. https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/leicester-city-linked-celtics-15m-2846768https://www.footballfancast.com/scottish-premier/celtic/transfer-focus-celtic-open-discussions-to-sign-david-turnbullRogic has been a shadow of his former self over the last 12 months and since the turn of the year in particular, managing to score just five goals across the season amidst fitness and international issues.

it's really dry out there on the jedinak rumours.. some chatter - mostly negative - on the sheffield wed forum. has anyone heard anything? https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/280545-official-summer-2019-transfer-rumours-thread/page/177/he was amongst the highest paid in the aston villa squad. probably the biggest reason they dropped him. £50,000 a week. that's as much as mooy. so they are the highest paid australians now no one is in china. https://sillyseason.com/salary/aston-villa-players-salaries-99599/hard to imagine where he will play to get close to that wage. i could still see him being valuable to a young team in the EPL that needed some leadership and steel.

Having said that, he was the starting keeper for the Olyroos recently while Daniel Margus on the other hand who looked like a quality keeper whenever he has played for AUFC was third choice for the Olyroos behind Glover and Holmes.

Glover was not good for us, he has good pedigree but that's about it, same with Holmes. Don't know if those Olyroo selections were actually correct or Milicic being blinded by Glover and Holmes occasionally appearing on the bench in the Premier League.

But yeah it was bizarre to see them preferred to Margus.

Glover was good for the olyroos. He started the games after holmes took the first. margush wasn't even used. Not sure why...

Glover sucked for CCM but was impressive with the Olyroos recently.
Certainly faster and more agile than what I’ve seen from Holmes and Margush.

Super harsh to be writing off Glover at A-League level of his first four ever senior appearances whilst playing for the worst defence in the league. Remember how Ryan used to be pretty poor. Having done well at Olyroos level Id say he deserves a shot at least as a #2 somewhere

Maty’s first few games weren’t very encouraging, but Arnie kept the faith in him and he grew into the season and ended up impressing.
Glover wasn’t given that opportunity.

+xBirighitti or Bouzanis for Melbourne city? There were rumours that Birighiti wanted out and there was an offer from OS, no news about it though, maybe he is having a rethink now Joyce is gone. Bouzanis didn't even get a minute on loan, I'm not sure if he will go back out again. I would probably pick Birighitti myself, but I think they are pretty similar.

If City keep them both, that’s a pretty strong GK combination heading into the season.

+x+xRemember how Ryan used to be pretty poor. I don’t remember Ryan being poor. He was great at CCM. You could always tell he was something special. He was absolutely dire at the start and only built confidence after strikers continually shot straight at him.
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Yeah this is the point I was making. Glover had four games dropped and never seen again. Of course one could argue would a season behind Mariners defence have helped him much but I remember Ryan making some really poor errors early on before getting the confidence that he could cut it at the level and the rest as we know is history

+xMaty’s first few games weren’t very encouraging, but Arnie kept the faith in him and he grew into the season and ended up impressing. Glover wasn’t given that opportunity. You could always see Maty was class and he showed it from day 1. Many blamed him for his first goal conceded where he called for it and had it covered. Patty Z didn't trust him and caused the goal - he quickly learned to trust him. That was the only goal he let in in his first 4 games. Some keepers though technically okay make mistakes and implode - Redmayne and Pasfield are cases in point. Others it just hardens their resolve. Maty, Covic and Vukovic are keepers that have that self belief. Total goals conceded in the HAL 74 in 80 games.

Would hope Troisi wouldn't be marquee. If he does come, I don't doubt it would just be a stepping stone to something else for him, but if that means we get a good season out of him, I don't mind.

I think he will probably be looking to be more settled from now on. He is about to become a father. I can't blame a footballer for trying to look out for himself and his family. It's a fickle job and you only have so many years to provide for your family. At least with jt you know what you are getting.

Apparently young Suman is rated highly. Plenty of good options here. It'd be great to see Holmes at the Mariners.
