He hasn't bowled for more than 10 overs a day for nearly a year. As we can see from Starc, white and red ball cricket are different. The bowling star of the World Cup has been dropped from the First Ashes Test.

+x+xLovely what I thought was an outswinger from Broad beating the outside edge of Smith, but Atherton called it a leg cutter. I think I can bowl a leg cutter, but not an outswinger. Not that up with the mechanics of the two. But a swinging ball is determined by the seam position whereas a leg cutter is the finger action across the ball. Is that correct? I think so. Grazor should know when he comes on from Canada in a while.

Archer is deadly with the red ball. He has an outswinger and a lot of pace.

+x+x+x+x+xI think the England batting is underestimated. Roy, Butler, Bairstow, Stokes Ali and Woakes are all inconsistent but can win a match off the bat on their day. Only need 1-2 to really stand up and make a big score if Root sticks around to get somewhere England desperately try to find 600 to 700 runs a game to win the game. They do this by batting deep. Ali and Woakes will bat 8 and 9. Their top order has been a shambles for a long time. Noone really knows what Burns, Roy or Denly are capable of, cos they have played a handful of tests between them, and even less in England itself. Great to see you back, Paddles. Love your input, mate. Since you were last here, I've caught up with Baggers in Sydney. I made him drink a lot craft beers he hadn't had before! Hey Fella. Sounds like good times. I enjoy you both. Bairstow is on ODI form. Tbh. Buttler is in on test batting form... England have depth everywhere bar BAR BARRRRRR specialist batsmen. Where they are sorely lacking. The England top and middle order is a JOKE for 2.5 years. Want the stats? I can provide them. Its pathetic. NZ rolled them for 58, WI for 77 and Ireland, IRELAND for 85...

Unlike many - I love ODI cricket. I'm not a total purist.
But its great to have some test cricket taking the headlines again.
Even if NZ isnt involved.
I lvoe test cricket in England.
So exciting. For several days.
