+x+xGetting closer now. Wright is injured so Susnjar or Souttar should come in. Smith is injured I believe. Gersbach is only in on his talent. I'd actually call Jack Iredale from Carlisle on current form. He's been great. Rogic and Arzani simply aren't ready. Nabbout would probably get ahead of John Iredale but John Iredale has been great so far and should get some exposure. Ryan Langerak Redmayne Grant Sainsbury Degenek Susnjar Souttar Behich Gersbach Mooy Luongo Irvine Jeggo Amini Hrustic Leckie Mabil Taggart Giannou Iredale Ikonomidis Borrello good line up. i'd drop sainsbury though. hasnt done enough at club to warrant inclusion. who would you bring in to replace him? also, milligan will be in. While I think Sainsbury needs a slap he's at least fully fit but lacks the match practice. I'd go Milligan for sure with that experience.

Now that Archie Thompson is playing football somewhere in the world you think holger will get the roos job back and pick him in his first squad because he’s good for the team morale?

Amini should definitely be in the squad as he did well in the friendly against S Korea. Interesting nobody is selecting Milligan yet for some reason he is still being kept around.

Keepers: Ryan, Langerak, Redmayne Defenders: Grant, Risdon, Souttar, Degenek, Susjnar, Sainsbury, Behich, Smith (if not fit Gersbach) Midfielders: Mooy, Luongo, Irvine, Amini, James Holland, Zach Duncan, Hrustic Forwards: Leckie, Borello, Mabil, Taggart, Giannou
Other Players to be considered Alex Gersbach Fran Karacic Jordan Lyden Jimmy Jeggo Chris Ikonomidis Matty Jurman Milligan?? Only reason I say this is because I can see Arnie using Degenek at right back, as Risdon isnt really at full fitness. Nikita Rukavysta has also been in goal scoring form John Iredale has been in goal scoring form but for his reserve side

The team that you suggested is very close to the team that I would select for the Kuwait game. As far as I know Ikonimidis is still out injured and not due to return until October so I would replace Iknonimidis with Nabbout and Jack Iredale instead of Gersbach because Jack Iredale is in good form and playing regularly and whilst Gersbach is probably the future left fullback he is still not getting game time to warrant selection for one still fighting his way into the squad.
I would really like to see Souttar be given some decent game time to see what he can do, he is a man mountain and has been scoring goals from set pieces, he will be a real threat and another avenue to goal from corners and free kicks against the Asian sides.Susnjar is also looking the goods. Taggart in career best form and John Iredale is showing heaps of promise which is encouraging.
At the moment I would also start with the same line up that you have suggested in bold.

Iredale has only played 2 games for carlisle in league 2, wouldnt say thats being in good form.
Much rather give Elder the back up left back spot

Much rather give Elder the back up left back spot The seasons are only just kicking off so two competition games in league 2 is about as regular and as good as it gets. There is virtually no Australian left fullbacks playing consistently at the moment. I rate Elder but he has just changed clubs, he is not playing and needs to be given time to settle in so he can try and win the left fullback position at Hull . At the moment I would select Gersbach before Elder.

He has come from the scottish championship, which isnt actually the greatest.
You dont think Elder would be starting if he was at a League 2 club??
Id rather have someone like Zullo instead of Iredale

I assume Elder is still being integrated into the team. He can't be injured. Hopefully he'll kick on this season.

Looks like Ikonomidis is ahead of his original diagnosed recovery time and he is expected to get the all clear to resume full training in a couple of days. It's 20 days until the game against Kuwait.

I have to stand up for Elder...
1.He's already played a full league one season at Wigan. 2. It's 3 weeks into the season, some havent even started.. calm down. 3. He has the same manager that signed him on loan at Peterborough - he will get a run. 4. Behich is still the clear #1 anyways and Brad Smith was doing really well before his injury. 4. Neither Mooy, Luongo or Elder have played more than 5 minutes this season so calm the fuck down.

Jack Iredale is in good form and playing regularly
Iredale has only played 2 games for carlisle in league 2, wouldnt say thats being in good form.
Iredale is playing league 2, what does that say about his quality?
He has come from the scottish championship, which isnt actually the greatest.
You dont think Elder would be starting if he was at a League 2 club??
Id rather have someone like Zullo instead of Iredale I do think Elder would be playing if he was in League 2 but he is not playing and that's my point.
What does it say about his quality? Probably more about what does it say about Australia's left fullback options at this time of the year, right now with a world cup qualifier in 20 days time, it's not good. Gersbach is not playing, Elder is not playing, Davidson is not playing, Smith is injured, Garucico is injured, Zullo has just returned from injury and is still in pre season and for that matter all A league left fullbacks are still in preseason.
I never had a dig at Elder and your right he did play a full season for Wigan and he played well. I also think Elder is a very good chance to break through and play first team football at Hull, yes he should get a run. Behich is still number one and I am calm thanks, are you ok?

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xGetting closer now. Ryan Langerak Redmayne Grant Sainsbury Degenek Susnjar Souttar Behich Gersbach Mooy Luongo Irvine Jeggo Amini Hrustic Leckie Mabil Taggart Giannou Iredale Ikonomidis Borrello Nice Line-up. Mine would be pretty similar: Ryan, Langerak, Redmayne Sainsbury, Souttar, Degenek, Susjnar, Grant, Karacic, Behich, Gersbach, Amini, Jeggo, Mooy, Luongo, Irvine, Hrustic Borello, Mabil, Leckie, Ikonimidis Taggart, Iredale

Now I see why you are saying you have to stand up for Elder. It was my bad and poorly written by I.
When I copied jasongenova's " What does it say about his quality' I was responding to Jasongenova's re Jack Iredale but I can see how you thought I was referring to Elder.

+xAmini should definitely be in the squad as he did well in the friendly against S Korea. Interesting nobody is selecting Milligan yet for some reason he is still being kept around. It depends on the insight of people making judgements. Experience is a massive factor in success. Fans and journos love mooting new players.

We won't qualify one year. Fact Milligan was in the 2006 squad brings me to tears.

+xWe won't qualify one year. Fact Milligan was in the 2006 squad brings me to tears. As in we should have regenerated by now? I had given up on him around 2009 even! Incredibly frustrating player back then but he kept at it and become a leader and put in some top games. Yes I do wish we'd have seen someone else even better burst onto the scene. His performance in the Asian Cup final at right back after the Franjic injury is legendary.
