+xAdelaide were a little lucky in the game against Olympic. Their second goal looked to be offside. Good game to watch. I thought the winning penalty was a bit soft but overall Adelaide looked like they had another gear to go up whereas Olympic looked maxed out. Reds backline looked a bit slow/flat at times but midfield to forwards worked well. I honestly think it woukd would be worth them taking a punt on Lofthouse, they’ve seen him close up now and his record speaks for itself.

+xJez Lofthouse, why hasn’t any aleague club picked up him up? A direct, Skilful winger who gave Jordan Elsey a tough time today. Thats the thing with the FFA Cup the most is the talent outside of the aleague to showcase themselves. Marty Fernandez scored a nice chip against Melb City too. I didn't watch the game but he is very well thought of in NSW footballing circles.

The decisive penalty was very soft and Olympic were good value to be 2-2 up until that point, but I think United were definitely looking the more likely to score had in gone to ET. A number of times when United were dispossessed in midfield, we definitely looked pretty slow and disorganized in transition (which only highlights the need for a top quality CDM replacement to fill the whole left by Isaias). Early days obviously, but we are already looking much better offensively than we did throughout Kurz entire tenure. Ball movement is much quicker and the right decisions are being made in the final 3rd.

Toure has been fantastic and I'm genuinely excited but I'm also trying to temper my excitement given the fact our two cup opponents have been NPL teams.

+x+xHoping for a WSW v NPL team final :) i think wsw is destined to have the final at their home ground Where do get that from? Next Round will be NPL v NPL NPL v A-L club A-L club v A-L club A-L club v A-L club Assuming a WSW win, the NPL clubs left will be Moreland Zebras, Brisbane Strikers/Manly United & Adelaide Olympic/Hume City. The likelihood of facing an A-league club is is higher in the next round so we will most likely face either Brisbane Roar (CCM win unlikely), Adelaide Utd, Melbourne City or Newcastle Jets. Roar' s win was the best of A-league teams performances in the comp so far. We still haven't signed a striker but after the 2 Sep EU time, it might become clearer plus we are without Duke and Ziegler atm. I think on performances so far, the A-league clubs should be rated as follows 1. Brisbane Roar 2. Adelaide United 3. Newcastle Jets 4. WS Wanderers 5. Melbourne City (weren't that good against Marconi, except Noone) 6. CC Mariners We will see the form tonight against SU58 who have played multiple games having to win all of them. One of their players Uskok cannot play tonight as he is cup tied. The FFA would love to have a final at Bankwest. Football NSW are playing their men's NPL1 grand finals there this weekend.

+xSuch a shame SU vs Wanderers isn't at endensor park. The correct pronounciation is U-Densor Park. Like Lucy Zelic would say it. :hehe:

+xSuch a shame SU vs Wanderers isn't at endensor park. Yep, would have been great. The only question I have of tonight is will there be cevapi at Campelltown? That's the only thing that can save the night.

I'd switch 5 and 6. City haven't looked convincing at all. Could have easily lost both games.

Love me some cup nights! Draw for the quarters is after the completion of matches tonight right? Brissy derby would be nice to see, hope the Roar/Strikers win tonight.
A-League club lineups for tonight WSW: Lopar, Kamau, McGowan (C), Mourdoukoutas, Elrich, Georgievski, Baccus, Schwegler, Majewski, Adam, Yeboah Bench: Cordier, Sullivan, Wilmering, Russel, Greenwood.
CCM v ROAR ROAR: Young, Neville, Aldred, Gillesphey, O'Donovan, Inman, Mauk, McGing, Akbari, O'Shea, Courtney-Perkins Bench: Crocombe, Ingham, Pepper, O'Neill, O'Toole.
CCM: Birighitti, Gordon, Clisby, Kim, Duric, Murray, Oar, DeSilva, Fox, Simon, Miller Bench: Pearce, Majok, Stensness, Silvera, Melling.

Carved up United a few times. Rumour locally is he turned down a trial with Mariners earlier this year. I find that quite incredible if true as he is a talented lad I know Sydney FC/CCM have trialed NSW NPL players and some of them been offered 50k-100k contracts which were denied by the players. Some of the money paid to certain players in the NSW NPL system is criminal, considering the league. I think highest paid is 210k at Rockdale but maybe a Rockdale fan, can confirm whether that is true or not.

Been impressed with young Mo Adam so i'm interested to get a better look at him tonight.
Also young Michael Ruhs for SU58 is worth keeping an eye on. Big talent.

SU need to tighten up down their right hand side, Georgievski has far too much time and space. Yeboah quite wasteful so far..
And Ruhs fluffs a great chance, solid counter attack.
