Entertaining game. Mariners were good value for their win. Lovely penalties in the shoot-out too!

CCM probably deserved that. They lead  the game twice and created the better chances.
They looked dangerous from set pieces, while Brisbane didn't despite a hat full.
Brisbane played the fancier football. But never really created that much with the ball .

There is still another month to go.But Roar showed their first signs of vulnerability at the back.2 goals against from CCM.
CCM really gifted two goals and offered little else.
Worrying signs for both teams.

Maybe Hume could upset CCM.
So after those results I don't know how to rate the A-league sides.
Adelaide v Jets will tell more. The win by the Jets over Melb Victory was against a team without all its major signings.
CCM are still unknown. They lost a closed door friendly against the Wanderers 0-2 a few weeks ago but have not finalised their playing roster.
We will see how good Melb City are when they play WS Wanderers. WSW still yet to finalise the playing roster.
The baffling question marks are over the Smurfs (after they lost to Brisbane), Perth Glory and Western (Fraudsters) United.
Nix to win the spoon again!

My observations re the squads to date...

Pussy Cat Dolls... very much improved on last season.
Jerks... improved on last season.
Mighty Mariners... the most improved team in the league when compared to last season
Drive Bys... improved on last season
The South Gosford Flying Circus[SFC]... slightly worst than last season..
BT's [MV] ... improved on last season
LT's [MC] ...improved on last season.
Piss Ants .... not sure seem a tad stronger than last year.
Western red Necks... worst than last year.
New Kids on the Block.... no idea
Sheep Shaggers ... at this point the most disappointing compared to last season

Well, I'm saddened for SU after their busy schedule the recent weeks for it to all fall apart.
They were flat and some players coming out of from their own danger zone wanted to dribble by too many players to lose the ball and wanderers easily returned serve.
This game certainly hasn't given me any indication what were to expect from wanderers but maybe facing City in the QF we shall see.
Sad also Manly knocked out but happy its another PL side advancing so good luck Strikers.
Hume what can you say but well done rippa result knocking off AU.
The more surprise was watching CCM contest the fancied revamped Roar and Away !
Its a game taking your chances and CCM did that with less possession but got to give it to them and Staj they played very well defensively. Marked improvement to recent years.
Entertaining Cup round.

i'm not too bothered by the result, after we beat wollongong wolves to make the Grand Final, the club decided to rest players and not take the FFA CUP seriously.

out of our starting 11 we had 5 players who are regular U20s with the rest of the squad bar 2, fringe players.

Not a Phase, Not a Trend, SYDNEY UNITED till the END!
