+xSomething has happened to DDS because he doesn’t look the same player as he once was at Perth. A shadow of himself, hopefully it’s just pre season fitness and lack of form. I thought Sam Silvera was terrific. A bit lucky at the end with the goal. Lucky is not the word, half-arsed is the word. Mariners, on that display, won't challenge.

+x+x+x+xI thought IFAB changed the rules so the attacking team can't join the wall? Comes in to force in next seasons FFA Cup (as the competition started under the old rules it must finish under them). Makes sense, you shouldn't change rules mid-tournament. That means new rules apply for the new A-League season, correct? Yes so called Silhouette rule applies to the A-league just like womens world cup and Europe. Correct. Under the old rules I recon that was a penalty, under the new “natural silhouette” rule it wouldn’t have been. Honestly can’t see the handball controversy dying down with the new rules - we want a Pen when we want it and object when we don’t get the one we want.

Hume controlled large portions. Unlucky at the end to lose it with a goal mouth scramble.

Hume were unlucky. The referee seemed to let alot of important decisions without handing a yellow card or a penalty. Mariners are still dogshit.

+xthey really need de silva and oar to get involved in the games more I don't think DDS will do much during the AL season TBH, if he couldn't "shine" against Hume he got no hope the coming season. As for Oar, he can still make an impact, had a chance to win through a rare passage of good play late in the game but went the harder near side instead going across the keeper for a more open chance. CCM were ordinary across the park last night, infact I've seen PL 3 games/sides play better. That Majok is a shocker, so utterly usless once on, on cloud nine from a mishit scramble goal claim to fame, then commits a obvious foul in front of their own box, now thats football brains for you not.. IF they don't play Jordan Murray more Staj is stupid for he's the best product they have to play up front as long as he gets decent service and that will be the question all season. IF only Hume could convert for CCM didn't deserve getting through one bit.

Only caught last 30 mins of both games but a few takeaways...
Arroyo was really putting in a shift for Jets but our midfield didn’t offer much. He’s strong, fast and hopefully can finish a few. Also hope Hoolahan isn’t out for the rumored 12 weeks. That’d really hurt. I miss Champy Champness. Please no Hoole as injury replacement. For some reason I can see that happening.
Pleasantly surprised with Oar actually. He looked sharp. I was kind of lol’ing at his obscenely high Fifa ranking, but hope he can at least regain some of his past form. Silvera and Stensness could also have good seasons. Coasties seemed to miss Kim though and need a bloody striker. I’ve seen glimpses in him before but Majok was truly honking.

DDS, in particular, is all hype and nothing else. Feel like neither of them really ever dictate the play enough. Thought Silvera showed he’s more capable of doing that, though I don’t wanna curse him with the same kind of hype.

looks like hume's violent fans are getting them in trouble, but hardly surprising considering.... Hume's misery could be compounded after fans hurled bottles and cans on to the pitch following their narrow loss. The NPL club will be in hot water with FFA after the incident, which came seconds after full time. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/soccer/mariners-break-hume-hearts-with-late-goal-to-advance-to-ffa-cup-semis-20190917-p52scf.html

That Majok challenge should have seen him off the park. And if he's singing because of his "goal", then no wonder he's hopeless.

Up for the cup!
Babbel with the scoop, Wanderers have signed a European striker who is flying over in the coming days. Babbel is superb with the media by the way, fantastic for the league.

Isn't this najjarine player meant to be good?
Also, whonwas saying WSW were cup favourites? Based on this it could be another long season for them.
Nothing to do with the keeper error more to do with players who cant control or pass the ball. Having said that, what a horrible pitch.
