Will the A-League new management and expansion make the difference ?

Will the Red & Black Bloc return in full voice?

Will Wellington ellipse 10,000?

How will Western United fare?

Answers to those questions and more waits us...

Over 100,000 by only 14 people.
I wonder if they were free tickets?

Hard to tell as of yet
Yes, the atmosphere created at bankwest will be excellent, the safe standing in the active end is also something pretty cool.
Unfortunately not
It's to hard to determine how a new club will go, but based off their membership numbers I don't have high expectations for Western United. Canberra would have been my preferred expansion option.

the a league is interesting because besides the results we also look at the attendance numbers as we want this league to successful off the pitch as well.
so i will predict the attendance best as i can for rd 1

adel vs syd: 8K

wsw vs ccm:20k

melbourne derby:40k (same as last year)

wellington vs WU: 7k

perth vs brisbane: 12K

Couldn't agree more, we all have our own clubs but it's always great to see rival clubs succeed off the pitch. (key word- off). More i think because it's quite embarrassing when you see Suncorp for example with 8,000 people sitting in a 52,000 seat stadium and then you see the Broncos who on their record had a poor season still getting 25-35k most games. I know we shouldn't compare with rival codes, but we all do it. Like it or not.

Why is 8,000 at Suncorp embarrassing. Surely if 8,000 people still turn out to watch a shit team play in their shiftiest season ever that’s something to be proud of?

Will the A-League new management and expansion make the difference ? - so far so bad.

Will the Red & Black Bloc return in full voice? - lol. not going by their membership numbers.

Will Wellington ellipse 10,000? - #NixOut

How will Western United fare? - The great unknown. for their sake, they will need to win games early.

So Roar still have the biggest attendance (again) heading in to the final. Amazing considering we’re shithouse in this comp

Is it realistic to base a team out of Dolphin Stadium? Would make a bigger point of difference than another team out of Suncorp. If they could average 6k to 8k in season one it would be a good result.

It’s unrealistic to have any team based out of Suncorp Stadium, Roar included, which is the fundamental issue for expansion in Brisbane - one stadium.

The crowd at Dolphin for Roars Cup was all Roar fans, not locals blowing in for the event. North Brisbane provides more than half of Roars membership and ticket sales and most would have found it convenient to get to Dolphin.

As a stadium its ready for A League imo - but any team would have to carve out a support base so who the team is would be important. But short answer, yes I think a team based there could work.

It's embarrassing seeing a stadium 1/5 full. I will never be proud of an attendance less than 10k.

Jeez, talk about low expectations if you're celebrating 10k on the opening round

That’s how much it fits. Maybe they should have moved it to the MCG.

Also in the shittiest stadium with no atmosphere.

I'm sorry but I hate going to Brisbane games at Suncorp.

Something needs to happen in Brisbane urgently because the situation here is diabolical.

Someone has to invest some money for a boutique stadium.  A 12K stadium would be better than Suncorp.

You would have to have a 14.5k stadium and then share it with Rugby side QLD Reds to help pay it off.

OK no problem.

A 14.5K stadium is just perfect size for Roar. Even if it was 15K or 16K.

You cant have 15k or 16k without stadium QLD taking over it right? So it has to be 15k max>? or lower. Either way Roar in a smaller stadium would rock. Something the Nix need to do.

Either way doesn't bother me.

Maybe it needs to be done by QLD Government.

But if private interests can do it and have 14.5K capacity then that would be awesome.

Certainly isn't the shittest stadium. It's easily one of the best, just doesn't suit Roar games unfortunately.

Sure if you can get 50K people in their then it's fine.

But the Roar will not get 50K in their unless they were playing in a Grand Final or something like that.

So yeh, Suncorp is unsuitable for Roar and a terrible place to watch an A League game with 8 to 10K in the stadium.

A 12 to 14.5K stadium would be perfect for Roar.

I think Roar’s perfect ceiling for stadium size would be 20-25k.
They have demonstrated in the past they can crack 15-20k crowds.
Got to remember Australia struggle to reach 90-100% capacity even during “sell out” matches.

Adelaide vs Sydney: 11k
Wanderers vs Central Coast: 20k
Melbourne Victory vs Melbourne City: 35k
Wellington vs Western United: 9k
Perth vs Brisbane: 12k

Total attendance: 87k

Would be the highest total attendance in a single round since Round 15 of the 2016/17 season.
