Behich is horrible. Would like to see his passing stats.
Thank fuck for that JMac. Hrustic is a tidy footballer, needs to get given more of a chance.

Ordinary. Lots of slop. Behich to the bench, needs club game time before getting another go.

Just done with work. Will watch kayo to see what all the fuss was. Evidence of Behich lacking match time. A shame to hear Goodwin was rusty. Will see for myself.

+xWhen was the last Socceroos hattrick without pens? Seems it was Timmy in a WCQ against Fiji in 2004 at Marden Sports Complex in Adelaide in front of 2,200 fans lol Sterjovski got one a few days earlier against Tahiti at Hindmarsh, as well.

Not completely sold on Souttar definitely a threat from set pieces but not tested on the ball or defensively yet. Would still get ahead of Sainsbury and Wright though mainly due to set piece threat and AFC nations being poor at defending them

Sloppy and complacent, but at least we scored 5. Can anyone remember any other perfect hatricks by an Aussie? JMac’s is the first one I can remember.

Hrustic worth more time. Not convinced about Souttar. Need Rogic and Arzani in the side.

I refuse to watch any Australian side captained by a player who plays for a team at the bottom of the English third division. Not only is it hugely embarrassing but it also shows how far our standards have fallen for the national team.

And people complain about the lower league players RF picked for Brisbane in the A League.

Why on earth are we playing samba music when we score? If you're going to do it then at least put something local on. There's so much bloody disconnect from the FFA.

In good news, Souttar is a real find which leaves Sainsbury as a viable CB and CDM option when Milligan finally retires. I think Degenek, Souttar, Sainsbury and Wright are the top 4 with their ability and versatility.

Many on here probably won't want to admit this, but Muscat could be a great pundit, very articulate and intelligent. He was good tonight.

Would like to see Smith next game. 100%, who'd have thought it'd be Behich in Europe being the one riding the pine behind celebrity players while Smith in the USA is playing serious football every week in a reasonably quality league in front of a packed stadium of passionate fans.

Comparison Japan v Mongolia 4-0 up at 41' For me team had a lack of cohesion, Behich and Grant had a few moments but were both generally poor. Goodwin on that performance won't be starting. Too much space between the CBs. Mooy dropped a few cogs compared to his performance against Tottenham. Irvine doesn't work well in tight space as was the case tonight. Maclaren does what Maclaren does Poach. Next game my starting XI would be GK Ryan DF Wright (RB), Degenek, Souttar, Smith (LB) HM Milligan AM Hrustic, Mooy RW Leckie, Giannou, Mabil

Just more evidence that minutes are vital. We could see Wright is still rusty after his injury. Given the opponent, it's a bit tricky to gauge.

+xIn good news, Souttar is a real find which leaves Sainsbury as a viable CB and CDM option when Milligan finally retires. I think Degenek, Souttar, Sainsbury and Wright are the top 4 with their ability and versatility. Thoughts on selected players. Souttar - good that he’s locked in now, I think he will develop over the next few years, remember he’s only 20. I wouldn’t be confident in him defensively v Japan, Korea, Iran etc at the moment, but he has potential. Wright - always looks dodgy in my opinion, and tonight was no different. Passing is slow, lacks pace, should only be used in emergencies. Behich - abysmal tonight, very poor crossing, gave the bell away a lot considering the standard of the opposition. A lack of club games over the past season and a half as caused a severe degeneration in his performance, time for Brad Smith to be given an opportunity. Milligan - always frustrates me as so many times his first touch when he receives the ball from the centre backs is backwards. Time for him to be retired from the national team. Irvine - think he is better as an 8/ball winning midfielder who immediately gives the ball to someone more creative. Don’t think playing as 10 is his strength, he doesn’t have the technical skills for it and the higher field positioning detracts from him being able to make late runs into the box. Maclaren - even though he got the hat trick and I like him as a club player, I think Taggart/Giannou are better options for Australia. Goidwin - reinforced my negative view of him, should never be selected again in my opinion. Hrustic - looked good in the time he was on. It gives me some hope that he could develop into a useful creative player for Australia.
