Jordan Nepal live. Jordan penalty 1:0. He's simply fallen after being touched on the shoulder. What a joke.

Jordan won 3:0 but Nepal really gave it their all. Iran losing 1:0 in Bahrain with 15 to go.

Expected result for Jordan but what a shame to hear they won cheaply.

Group C very open after the Bahrain Iran result, as is Group D after Palestine held Saudi 0-0. Thailand and Vietnam now the top two in Group G, hopefully they can continue to hold out UAE.

Wouldn't it be great to see SE Asians get through at the expense of ME teams!

China Australia Iraq Iran Uzbekistan Oman Japan Kyrgyzstan Thailand Vietnam South Korea North Korea. I'm assuming Qatar will drop out?

Amer Mabil coping flack on here is ridiculous, he didn’t do that bad and had some nice touches especially with Smith who had a good game.

Lets be honest our front third creativity in the last decade since Kewell left has been below standard and along with Hrustic and Borrello who will get better along with the soon to come back Arzani and Ikonomidis it’s good we got players who have x-factor who are capable of creating a good scoring chances in the final third.

Hopefully we will see the likes of Italiano, Folami, Armenakas, Najjarine and others around the youth team fringes develop as they also bring that x-factor to the table in the final third we need going forward into future campaigns.

With respect we used Leckie, Kruse and likes of Oar, Ruka for so long but are inadequate in creating goal scoring chances on a consistent basis and this has shown as our biggest weakness at the World Cup last year.

One with brawns the others with brains, now which one you prefer?

Overall with what we had tonight it was a better performance, slick combination but also wary that the opponent will get harder.

Win is win. As long as we keep winning who cares in the end. IMO our midfield frustrate me. And unpopular opinion mainly mooy. His good on the ball and in tight areas, but you can see when we want to play quick or look to go over the top he either doesn’t try the pass or just misses the run. Don’t think the other players around him help but with his qualities I expect him to try. Looking forward to better quality opposition.

Let me help you changed one statement.
Lets be honest our front third creativity ever apart from Kewell & Viduka has been below standard.

He doesn't try the pass because he doesn't trust his teammates, for good reason. They can't control quick passes in traffic and will lose the ball, so he holds onto it. That's why Hrustic should start, his first touch is very good and his presence would make Mooy much more effective.

Gotta have them all in the squad. They're classy. Mabil, Ikon, Hrustic, Arzani. Amini, Goodwin and even Maclaren can make way.

Definitely the way to go.  I think Boyle may also need to be accommodated.

The other question is, when do you pull the plug on Milligan?

Yes indeed, Group G is looking real exciting. The next game in Hanoi will be a cracker, between Vietnam vs UAE.

Amini will be there because he can play the Grella/Jedinak role as well as anyone better or the equal to all except possibly Milligan.  He can play the metronome role like Culina probably as well as anyone since Culina. He can be the bustling box to box midfielder and when deployed further forward is quite creative (though not as creative as others).

He and Luongo are the best midfield cover you can have in the squad.

Absolutely. And the fact that at present UAE, Iran and Saudi Arabia are out of the qualification spots for the World Cup is a good sign. Depth and fighting for places is the harbinger of better outcomes for the AFC and more spots at the WC, irrespective of whether the tournament goes to 48 places in 2026.

Milligan should still be included as a defender (not a midfielder). Until Sainsbury gets some serious form back his experience is needed at the back.

Although the Saudis get spanked at WC level on a regular basis, I would hate to see what would happen to the next rung of Asian nations.

Aside from the 5-0 against Russia the Saudis did ok at the World Cup last year lost 1-0 to Uruguay and even defeated Egypt 2-1. Better than what The Socceroos did. I don't think they'll qualify for 2022 but should make the next round.

Penalties don’t count as assists, point being they have played for so long together and contributed little in amounts in goals and not enough in chance creation.

Kruse’s movement has been his main weapon but he’s not good in 1v1 situations or in tight spaces.

Leckie relies on his strength and speed but he’s not good when breaking down defences.
So much so we have relied on Rogic as our creative linchpin as the rest are inadequate in chance creation.

Even with the FFA were worried about developing x-factors like other countries they developed a curriculum in developing these kind of players that would be comparable with the world standard.

We always relied on speed and strength and not enough on technical skill the new group offer something different from the existing duo we have used in the last few years.

my only beef with mooy is his constant habit of running toward the player with the ball, calling for the ball, and cluttering up the space.  it must be purposeful.  does anyone on here know what he is doing?  it does usually draw in a few players and he is very comfortable in that tight space, but all ever see him do is return the pass immediately and leave the other player in the shit.

kruse's best weapon is drawing fouls. he used to get past players to the byline, but i think they were often showing him that way rather than letting him cut in. he used to get past player along the byline and cut passes inwards quite a bit.

i'm so happy that we are well past kruse's time in the NT.  he has not been the same player since he broke at leverkusen.
