Blew a 2 goal lead against the new boys at home
Poor football
Players dropping like flies
Poor recruitment and imports, bar the only good player and captain, turning out to be duds
Club legend seems to be slowly defecting to the new boys
Also recorded a loss last financial year

Is Marco Kurz in trouble?

I think he needs a full starting 11 to be judged on!

no Nobboutt, no Kruse, no Hooglout.

once they are fit and Kandinsky and Kenny can come on as super subs I think we become a different side going forward.

but I must admit.... the midfield is a big big big worry!
i love the Brox but if he is our best midfield player then we have problems!

dobras should just leave.. he didn’t even shake Kenny before leaving the game tonight and I feel is a poor import.
poulson I think can be good as a defence player and basha is solid but not one has been outstanding and can break a game open.

it looks mediocre and victory doesn’t settle for mediocre!!

I wonder if he's now regretting his decision to retain the Muscat-era players he did...he definitely ought to anyway.

He's playing the same style that made it tough to find motivation to go to games for me last season. Can't see it improving heaps but there's no point sacking him now.

Complaints about poor football, completely non-existent midfield, half the team crocked with soft tissue injuries...I do not miss it in the slightest.

I think we just need to wait for MVFC to become the underdogs and then a few enthusiastic victories lifting them to 4th or 5th place on the table will be most satisfying.

The big mistake is kruse, you can't sign an injured player and hope they'll come good In this league. It can leave you very short.
And this insistence that elvis is any good is sickening.

😂😂😂

I didn’t realise frauds were able to win silverware with a lot of players out injured and to take AUFC to a kick away from a GF is a brilliant achievement given the state of the club and the squad at the time.

His foreigners look to be duds so far but if he can replace them, they’d be on the right track.

He seems to perform for the underdog club with the underdog mentality well. Where there's no expectations.

So far is failing miserably at a club that actually expects to win every game and is a big club in the league.

Fraud.

His track record isn't good on that. His foreigners for us were mostly duds too. Absalonsen would have been good if he wasn't injured for 3/4 of the season. Adlung is pretty much the only one that could be considered successful and he lasted a season.

There is a long way to go, he is a good coach and fellow. Should not be in a hurry to go replacing head coaches on a whim. He needs his injured players back.

Fraud.

That isn’t true.

Going into the season, most AU fans were expecting to finish top 3 or 4 (We finished 4th). He still managed this despite injuries, some dud foreigners, one of which ended up being suspended and ended up retiring, speculation about Kurz’s future and the club owners almost wanting him to fail so they wouldn’t have as much backlash when they effectively sacked him.

That is an incredible achievement and no fraud would be able to pull that off or do anywhere near as well as he did tbh.

Also if Victory fans think they should win every game and be entitled to success than they are even more deluded and have an even larger, undeserved sense of entitlement then I thought.

How much control over signings did he have though? I remember when he gave the owners a list of strikers he wanted but they refused to sign any of them and Piet ended up signing Thomassen on loan.

Think he is pretty good at getting his teams up for finals games, should have beaten Perth in the semis last yr and got dudded by the refs the yr before against Vic. His Adelaide teams were generally a bit of a regular season mess and that seems to have carried through. I’m sure he will still get MV to at worst 5th or 6th and from that point anything is possible.

clearly the issue here is a lack of quality personnel, MV would play 80% rubbish under Muscat but they had the 3-4 players that could take the game away from you in a flash, those days are gone now and they don’t look like coming back when they fall behind.

I don't think he's in trouble just yet, and on paper I don't think his foreign signings are terrible. Could MV have signed better foreigners and replaced (among others) the likes of Donachie and Brown? Yes absolutely. Ultimately though, MV knew they were getting a coach who was never going to have his teams playing champagne football. While I liked Kurz at Adelaide (without loving the guy), I do think in hindsight now (given his poor start) a club like MV shouldn't have signed him, given the increased expectations and pressure to win silverware. Kurz did well at Adelaide because he seemed to thrive on the 'underdog' status, and I have no doubt that he used that to motivate his players. The Semi against PG was a classic underdog moment. He still is yet to field his strongest 11, so I think he deserves a chance to turn things around, but I don't think the MV board will put up with too many more really poor performances.

I agree Kurz was absolutely hamstrung in trying to sign certain players (the way the club blocked the signing of that Spanish CB last season was really poor). I'd argue the foreign signings that were "his" were: Adlung, Absalonsen, Ilso, Matmour, Jakobsen and Boland. Obviously Baba was there already and Thomassen was 100% a Piet signing. How many other signings in between did he want to sign but wasn't allowed to? We'll probably never know, but I imagine there'd be quite a few for sure.

I think that's the key difference. Victory have downgraded substantially on their squad from last season. Apart from Ola, they don't currently have those x factor players that can change the game with a moment of brilliance when the team looks well beaten. Kamsoba can potentially become this kind of player, but he's got to back himself.
