Not sure why Ostler was brought on, he looked very slow in the first game and hasn’t played since, now has given away a pen, again looking very slow.
Luckily VAR has overruled, by virtue of the current ridiculous handball interpretations.

+x+xWho and what was the red for? Am trying to catch snipets at work but its not easy and the SBS site wont let me go back Studs up challenge. May need to see it again, but looked like he got the ball and then the following momentum resulted in the studs up challenge.

+xI missed the red, just saw the VAR screen before it went away, was it dodge? It wasn't too forceful, but technically studs up challenge that made contact. Always a risk of being sent off.

On what planet is that a foul?
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Alright, 2-0 game over. Credit to Peupion for not defecting.

Poor defending from no.2 (Abulahi?), needed to get tighter earlier. All too easy for the French player to get his shot away unchallenged.

Went for the ball, got the ball clean and cleared the danger. Sure, he kissed him on the follow through....but it was a LONG follow through(French player much further from the ball) with no malice whatsoever. No way was that a red. Poor decision. Game over from that point.

Not sure how people are saying that wasn't a red, he literally jumped into a tackle studs up.

Let’s be honest if anyone thinks we could have competed with France and beat them at this level considering how strong their football is where it’s the number one sport along with one of the best youth systems in the world with a cultural pot of players to choose from is living in fantasy land, maybe it was a dream more than a realistic outcome to get to that level today.
The red card changed the game as even 1-0 with 11v11 who knows what could have happened, and after the red it was France all the way.
Overall that should not change as it’s been a good tournament for Australia whilst uncovering some possible new stars along the way and that should be the bigger picture more so doing well at a youth level tournament.
Keep on improving and learn from playing against the worlds best teams.
We are getting there! Slowly...

French players are pretty much all early maturers. We have some young stars coming through. More of the same and we should have a good national senior squad going forward.

Exactly I don’t think we expected anything less today I guess the scoreline was flattering after the red card but you have to take the positives that’s how we will improve. Agree there is some talent in this team and I’m keen to see how they develop in the future.

Appreciate the feedback I agree Teague and Watts were outstanding and the likes of Hammond and Peupion were good too, good talent on display let’s hope they now kick on as pros.

During the first game against Ecuador, Abdulahi came on in the 60th min or so, he was able to make that midfield a more robust team to breakdown. Before that Ecuador were cutting us up to easily through the middle, we got our self back into the game and we were unlucky not to get a point in that game. Against Hungary, i thought we were the stronger team throughout. Again that partnership of Abdulahi and Teague allows Teague to play with a little more freedom and assurance having Abdulahi there as opposed to any other player that was selected in the squad. Game against Nigeria, Nigeria had no penetration through the middle. France was always going to rip us apart, no point critiquing a player when there is a clear massive gap in quality from the outset. My point is, the change bringing Abdulahi in to support Teague in the midfield is what balanced out the team. This probably reflects on bad selection with the players chosen but Abdulahi certainly played his role. It is worth noting with the number on his back (2), i presume he was selected in the squad to play right back. We all know right back was a problem throughout, personally i think our preferred right back was playing predominantly midfield.

He was moved to RB at one stage in France game but kept losing the ball every single time. The guy just dnt have technical skill enough. He was awful in France game.
