A game of two halves. 

My feeling is that Kurtz will be gone in a month. His coaching and recruitment have been poor. 

Pretty much all of this. We were pretty poor but hard to beat a side convincingly when they have 11 behind the ball. 

No surprise we appeared to play better football once we took the lead and Victory were forced out of their shell. O Neill should if killed the game at the end there.

Melbourne just showed no desire to attack whatsoever. Even with an undermanned squad they didn't have to park the bus for a full 90 mins. Target Retre, the biggest liability. They did it once and got a good ball in while McGowan was having a snooze. 
Deng was a loss, but the rest are all pretty average. Kamsoba and Athiu - bench players. Roux, a fairly average wing back who seemed easily replaced.
SFC were bloody awful for 75% of the match but still won comfortably in the end. Complacency is a hallmark of Corica's reign - but so is somehow doing enough to pick up the points.   

I thought poulsen would do a lot better.

I don't think many thought this, beware of a wounded opponent, especially one of our biggest rivals depleted or not.....
MV played to what they could offer under their circumstances - stay deep and did so very well like wsw did and grab the counter.
We certainly didn't help ourselves, such bloody slow build ups were boring as, get to their last 3rd pass back re group how many times......
Having had bloody 61% possesion our shot stat was 19 to 4, we should have had double that, please someone Shoot Fya !!.
When we pull them out for some space we still played slow, ball back and sideways more than take em on direct with pace.
IMO our mids do not take on the last line or a killer ball enough behind their backline, we finally were doing this mid 2nd on for Costa to run on.
Thomas pulled off a couple of good one v ones should have been more overall but take the win but sure wasn't inspiring in front a good 16k crowd..

SFC played a terrible game. The first half was too timid. They should have played the entire match on the front foot like the did for 10 minutes from the the 60 minute mark when they scored their 2 goals. They could and should have been aiming to win by 5 goals and make a real statement. But I guess they were just happy to get a win which was always a given. OT is good but you can not win a match with just 1 attaching player available.

SFC should (and perhaps still will) be the strongest team this year given their players. They are not yet any where near full speed but finals are a long way away so there is no rush. Perth are not as strong as last year. City continue to be city.

MV played great yesterday considering the situation.
For those paying attention this year MV season is well and truely over already regardless of what happens with AN and RK.
The replacements for JT and TA in the mid field are simply not up to the job. KD only managed 5 mins in a depleted squad so the coach has already lost faith in him.  JP has been a disappointment. There is still some hope for Basha. JH and AL will not be able to step up and replace them as quality starters.

You win matches with your strikers. You save matches with your defenders. However it is the midfield that makes a season a success.

game went as I expected. We'd have a crack early, but eventually get overrun by a better quality team. But our midfield is very poor. Poulsen and Dobras were terrible signings. Basha is better, but I think we should have kept Baena. If I were to take a positive, I would say Lauton and Kruse. The kid can play. And it was good to see Kruse on the pitch and having a few nice touches. Hopefully he stays fit. 

Sydney’s supporters (some) should stop taking moral high ground when massive contingents of their base were singing a paedo chant and going on about ‘tards’

as for the game. Boy it was painful. Fair result.

Sydney were pretty poor up until the late second half and that is saying something about how bad MVFC were, though I understand that they are missing a number of players. It seemed like a game that MVFC conceded days ago and that SFC were expecting to win and even when we went behind it was just an expectation that we should be winning and it would be that way in the end, but watching Sydney try to score early on was like watching someone try to pass a kidney stone.
Good crowd though, more than I expected.

such a dour 1st half, was painful to watch as well as a quick shower and a easy well taken late MV goal.
Thank fuck we started to play with more urgency for thats what was missing when playing 11 in their own half.
No matter who your playing in front in the end its 3points that count.
