+xBut I want the juicy details I’m not sure. You don’t want a Leicester 2015 Thai scandal type thing. They went on to win EPL the next season but still.

Strange photo of McGree. He has 14 on his training strip and 8 on his shorts. Was this photo taken after the incident? Or was trying to confuse team management about his identity, hence 6 months less on his ban.

+xBut I want the juicy details Seems a bit bizarre they've gone to lengths to talk about this publicly, all to not actually talk about it publicly.

Given none of us know what happened, what is your statement based on? I note no criminal charges have been laid.

"But it’s understood that the four broke the curfew imposed by coach Graham Arnold, though did not leave their hotel. One of the players had been in contact with a woman via Tinder and invited her into the hotel, where she had consensual sex with the players. There was no suggestion of any assault or coercion. In a complaint made to the Australian embassy in Phnom Penh a week later, the woman went on to say she was kicked out of the hotel by the players straight afterwards, after seeking assurances that no photographs had been taken. Though that complaint was later withdrawn, it had automatically been passed onto Sport Australia and then to FFA, which commenced an independent investigation over several months. On Tuesday the players were told the FFA Board had found them guilty of “unprofessional conduct”, and had handed down what are undoubtedly severe penalties."

+xGiven none of us know what happened, what is your statement based on? I note no criminal charges have been laid. Yet. Extract from The World Game Whilst the specifics of the incident cannot be revealed at this point because of the legal ramifications, it is thought to highlight several cultural issues. All four players were omitted from the Olyroos squad currently in China on a three-game tour, and it’s understood coach Gary van Egmond has been told to prepare for January’s AFC U-23 Championship without them in mind. The incident took place under the watch of Socceroos coach Graham Arnold, who will resume the Olyroos reins for the tournament in Thailand which runs from January 8-26.

Can't say I'm too upset about Wales getting banned. Should put an end to this inane overhyping by Fox (Brenton Speed in particular) for a 22 year old "youth player" that is utterly one dimensional.

I guess it's the other three players' fault for not getting nominated for the Puskas Award.

Yeah pretty much. FFA can investigate actions of players on top of complaints, obviously here the former was the basis for 'unprofessional conduct'. Interesting that the complaint was withdrawn though.

So apart from the breaking of curfew have they done anything wrong here? Seems a little excessive to give an 18 month ban.

Yeah questions will remain of the FFA of what separated McGree from the other three, other than the Puskas Award nomination. That won't go away.

Starting to be run by a few radio stations just simply saying 4 socceroos/olyroos (yep) have been suspended for breaching rules and having sex with a women. They do make it sound more sinister in the way they say it, at no point do they state that it was consensual.

Hope all 4 of them are single, cause the coverage is now getting out there and their partners (if they have them) would be finding out.

Looks like a good old fashioned spit roast.
NRL & AFL players would be proud.
Matthew Johns & the entire Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs squad should be approached for their opinion on the matter.

Can't be having consensual sex after a tournament, could impact on the results. I can only presume that they are being given a ban for being in breach of some sort of puritan laws? I think they shouldn't have been having sex outside of a committed long term relationship, but I don't think they should be given a playing ban for having done so.

Have they broken any laws, has the lady in question pressed charges ? if the answer is no then the punishment is pretty severe imo. Hope the appeal and win

It seems like they have only broken curfew.
