I am keeping Cummins and Hazlewood as our permanent strike bowlers and rotating Starc and Pattinson. After all it is only for four more tests before a long Test free break.

Yeah, I think Pattinson is in our best 3 quicks. Though Starc can be very useful on our flat wickets as he can strike with that unplayable ball from anywhere (while giving a few runs away for sure). He has out bowled Pattinson since the Ashes, and seems to be trying to tighten up his line (for him anyway lol), so I think he will stay for now. Wouldn't be at all unhappy if Patto was picked though.

starc is worth it for his sub 50 strike rate

Its good to have 1 strike bowler in the team to turn draws into wins (although they can also turn the occsional win into losses)

even still don't know how you can keep james pattinson out of the team. Have to rotate

Starc has always had that wayward problem. I am noticing that his figures are slowly getting tidier.. lower econ rate.

True enough.
Starc got a bit wayward in 2nd innings at times (will probably always have this problem to some extent), but credit where it's due 7w@18 for the match isn't too shabby, especially given the conditions.

Josh Hazlewood was the designated tail mopper upper today.. stole his mate Starc's thunder.

Point I am trying to make is, it must be a worry for a bowler who specialises in hitting a certain spot on the pitch ball after ball like Josh to maintain that pressure building when your partner is letting off the pressure at the other end. He must be in two minds about how to combat this. Do I continue to be accurate or do I try to mix up my deliveries and try to take wickets that way. With the more accurate Cummins Josh is able to not be concerned if he maintains his impeccable accuracy. This is borne out in the graph Fox Cricket showed of Josh's point of impact after delivering the ball while partnering Cummins. Nine of ten of his balls were in the perfect 7/8 metre zone. Will be interested to see a similar graph while partnering an erratic Starc.

Gee, imagine if we had good patient world class fast bowlers on these good batting wickets...instead of these hacks. We could have won this one by an innings.....oh...wait on...lol.

Starcey still a bit of a worry and maybe not first choice in England, worth it on these pitches though. Can usually make something happen in amongst the "four" balls. Wouldn't like to be a tail ender.

There is a marked improvement DC. Only gotta listen to what the former players/comms are saying about him. He was just robbed of a wicket by a nonsense DRS call. We are also seeing why a Cummins/Hazlewood opening partnership needs to continue. I believe and some media talk that Hazlewoods wicket taking dropped in last year or so as  Starc's form was on the slippery slide.. Since opening with Cummins his figures have  risen.

Hazlewood might have struggled for a year by his own standards, but there has been a 2019 resurgence in his Test career. 

The Gabba seems empty this morning after  a big crowd watched yesterday.

Pakistan Shan and Babar withstood a great deal of pressure this morning in a very tough phase of the game for Pakistan.

I agree also with what you say DC about Warner. I class him closer to an attack dog, a mad dog.. with little class. But yes he sure can lather a white cricket ball.

Dec, we often don't agree. But we agree on this. 100%. There have been fine people don the baggy green, and those names you said above, are total role models for everyone, of any age. Warner has talent, he is the best t20 batsman I have ever seen. Forget Gayle, its him, its Warner. Its not Kohli, Abdv oir Pollard. But Warner. But he is not a leader. Or a great human being yet. I hope - he spends the next few years, learning to be a leader and role model, not just for Australians, but for cricket. Cos he has some serious talent, he just stuffs things up with his mouth.
