Not sure how current or accurate these figures are, but it looks like a big uptick on the Youtube views for A-League games in areas with no broadcast rights: https://socialblade.com/youtube/c/myfootball

No metrics to report on during this period, however, according to Sports Industry, 7Mate replayed 3 different AFL games into three different cities for the following results (not all that interesting really, but with nothing else to report....):
Replays last night totalled 151,000 in 3 cities on 7mate metro (weren't shown in Sydney or Brisbane).
R14 2009 Saints/Cats (Melbourne) - 77,000 Eagles v Pies 2018 GF (Perth) - 54,000 R19 2013 Showdown (Adelaide) - 20,000
7mate had a pretty good market share at 4%
It got me thinking - would be nice to see SBS doing something similar.

Just like the NRL two weeks ago, the AFL got a bump in ratings for their return game (although by all reports it was a dull game)

+xJust like the NRL two weeks ago, the AFL got a bump in ratings for their return game (although by all reports it was a dull game) An average metro figure of 1.002m tuned in to Thursday night’s low-scoring draw on Channel 7, including a whopping 668,000 in Melbourne. An additional 342,000 watched the game on Fox Footy.

24 million people in Australia is pretty low when you think about it

+x24 million people in Australia is pretty low when you think about it Pretty much only half of Australia though. So 1.5 million out of 12 million isn't too bad.

1.8 million to watch a 61 point game, why bother. Do AFL fans just watch it to celebrate being Victorian?

Oztam tweet:
Good ratings continued for 7 yesterday ..In MELB, dominated its slot (200k+) and a nail biting 6:02pm finish gave 7NewsMelb the win.In SYD, (GWS Ch 7 > Swans 7mate) good results too, aided perhaps by a late change to NRL (which fell outside Top 20 programs).

I find it interesting how my view has changed so much

But do you realise how #$%^& stupid you sound bagging 1.8M viewers when we get about 20k people watching our beautiful HAL games.
FMD some of the numpties on this site are good at embarrassing themselves.

Sorry to tell football fans of the round ball code, but football fans of the oval-shaped ball prefer watching a sport where all-out attacking football with a bit of toughness to it appeals more to the masses in Australia. My Aussie Rules friends tell me they have tried watching my game, but find it boring with so many passes going backward and sideways repeatedly, not enough contact to their liking, and only a small chance of scoring a goal against packed defenses. Guess they just like to see lots of goals being scored, something not likely to happen in the World game.

sportsindustry@footyindustryAUAFL TV Ratings for round 2 will come in at an aggregate of around 5.8 million. This is massive - much bigger than the 5m that watched R1 last year. Ill have to confirm but I think this might be some sort of record.

How good would it be to have a broadcast partner that is trumpeting you to the public at every opportunity, like 7 does for the AFL?
