+xI've had the test 3 times because i have a persistent cough, from something unrelated to covid but doctors just want to make sure its not masking covid. The first time it wasn't painful but definitely made your eyes water. The throat made me gag. Second one just eyes watering and they didn't go anywhere near as far. Third time was even less invasive. (All times I've self isolated immediately) Having said that, i know people who have had it after me that have complained of bad taste for hours, irritation and one had a blood nose for days. Think it might be down to the tester really. And yet on news they make it sound as if it is nothing, no pain, no irritation, nothing but a simple test where you won't feel a thing.

Just watched a debate last night between Robert F.Kennedy Jr and Alan Dershowitz. Very interesting and informative. Not exactly on the topic of COVID, however plenty mention of it. The link is below. https://youtu.be/IfnJi7yLKgE

+xPeople not isolating when they should be a major driver of new infectionsMr Andrews said 53 per cent of people waiting for a coronavirus test result had continued about their lives, going shopping and to work "even though they've got symptoms"."They feel sick, sick enough to get a test, and then, somehow, not willing to stay at home and wait — on average — a couple of days, and sometimes sooner — to get the results of that test," he said.He said that kind of behaviour would lead to numbers continuing to increase, which would cause the current lockdown to be extended."A six-week shutdown will not be for six weeks. It will run for much longer than that," he said.Mr Andrews broke it down to what he called three "key points". - The first is when you feel sick
- The second is when you go for a test after feeling ill
- The third is when the test results come back
He said unless people get tested quickly and stay home while waiting for the results, case numbers will only go up."Unless we drive down the time between first illness, first sense of symptoms — in other words, how quickly people then get tested — unless we make that much faster than it is now, and people isolate in that intervening period, and unless we have people who get tested staying at home and isolating until they get their results, then we will not see these numbers come down," Mr Andrews said.Of the 3,810 people who tested positive to coronavirus in Victoria between July 7 and yesterday, 3,400 of them did not isolate when they first felt sick or after they got a test.
I know I’ve been critical of Victorian Government on occasions but when you hear shit like this it makes you shake your head with how dumb our society is.
Everyone who has been tested (and I have) knows you have to stay in isolation until you get the results. Yeah you get tempted to go for a walk, get some fresh air, just go grab a coffee but you know IF you’re positive it would leave a trail of shit for a whole bunch of other people that they need to clean up. So you do the right thing and stay at home. We really do live in a selfish and entitled society.
End rant/ That is only part of it. It is not only how dumb our society can be but how our economy is at odds to how to fight such a virus. As someone said early on the spread of Covid 19 depends on two things. 1) How dense your population is 2) How dense your population is High density housing and the increase in casual employment where people have little or no job security and live from week to week (and so make the decision to work even if sick) are how are economy has contributed to the spread of the virus. What is most worrying is that there are now more call for 'greater flexibility' in workplace relations. This is simply code for continue towards greater use of casual workers. We need to learn from the experience - not double down.

So from what I read there will be 30,000 volunteers, of which only 15,000 will be given the vaccine. From there they'll monitor all 30,000 volunteers to see if the vaccine is effective or not and so on. My only question on this is what the health condition of those 30,000 is before getting the vaccine. If all are perfectly healthy with no health issues at all, then isn't it fair to say none of them will be affected by the coronavirus considering it only mainly affects those already with chronic illnesses?

+xTeacher in QLD didn't isolate when returning from Victoria... FMD. -PB The only way to keep a state corona free is to enforce hard border closures and have mandatory quarantine. All it takes is a handful of morons to do the wrong thing and an outbreak is underway.

Not sure of the veracity of this but CNN has claimed that you have an 85% chance of surviving Corona Virus if you are admitted to an ICU in Australia. In the UK it is 60%. In the US it’s only 30%.

Saw this woman 'doctor' in a video touted around facebook and twitter yesterday with the 'wake up sheeple' tagline attached. https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/health-problems/coronavirus-donald-trump-defends-his-promotion-of-doctor-advocating-hydroxychloroquine/news-story/8e4712d2b73e91e37bb089464b2e9141Of course Trump retweeted her to his 84.1 million followers. Turns out she's a fucking lunatic espousing all kinds of whacko shit including; Dr Immanuel, the founder of a church called “Fire Power Deliverance Ministries”, has made some truly wild medical claims in the past.
For example, she has said many gynaecological problems are the result of “tormenting spirits” having sex with women in their dreams.
“Many women suffer from astral sex regularly. Astral sex is the ability to project one’s spirit man into the victim’s body and have intercourse with it. The practice is very common amongst Satanists,” she said during one “sermon”.
“They are responsible for serious gynaecological problems. We call them all kinds of names – endometriosis, we call them molar pregnancies, we call them fibroids, we call them cysts, but most of them are evil deposits from the spirit husband.”As we mentioned earlier, Dr Immanuel has also claimed “alien DNA” is being used in modern medicine.
“They’re using all kinds of DNA, even alien DNA, to treat people,” she said.

I find it both sad and funny that mainstream media reveal some weird fucked up beliefs of this doctor, to try and make Trump look stupid for quoting her and the many other doctors on the topic of hydroxychloroquine and how safe and effective it is. It would be much wiser of the critics to come out and prove her and the other doctors wrong on this topic with evidence of their own. This would make Trump look much worse compared highlighting what her beliefs are on a topic that is completely irrelevant to what Trump tweeted hydroxychloroquine. At a time when everyone is rushing to create a vaccine that'll work, or even better a cure against coronavirus, I believe it would be more beneficial for everyone to stay focused and comment on the facts. Either challenge it or agree with it and move forward instead of going off topic. Then again I do understand it is politics and mainstream media for obvious reasons has other ideas. It happens on both sides.

There have been several trials, none of which have identified any tangible benefit of using the drug to treat patients. Of course, the pro trump crowds will just say the research is fake news ,because I'm sure that infectious disease experts would engage in a massive world-wide conspiracy costing millions of lives to make Donald Trump look bad. Get a grip!

How about she put up the results for peer review? Considering she says she's only 'cured' 350 people when the infections are in the 10's of thousands and 85% of people 'cure' themselves with or without drugs it's a stretch for her to stand there and say the gub'ment is holding the 'cure' back.

That's what I mean they're better off focusing on the matter. I watched the full speech she gave and Q&A afterwards. She was asked if she would publish her results, and she said what's the point, there's plenty of information already available. That's why I'm saying the media is much better off pointing to those facts instead of something irrelevant. Personally I couldn't give a fuck what her beliefs are. I'm more interested to know if what she's saying is right or wrong, and my point is that the media would be better off pointing out her wrongs on the topic.

They have. Get a grip! In this case there was no mention of it, and instead all the focus on beliefs of a doctor totally unrelated to the topic of interest. I'm aware of previous studies claiming hydroxychloroquine isn't effective, and I'm saying it is better off stating those facts today instead of choosing the pointless angle they chose to go with. Context is important. If you can quickly infer she's a raving lunatic because she believes the government is using alien DNA to create vaccines then you've saved yourself a bunch of time. Yes I take your point there is a miniscule chance that despite her lunacy she may be actually correct. But this is why 'respectable' and 'reputable' are such valued words in science. I'll find a quick meme that I saw today that perfectly illustrates this.

FFS, stupid is sooooo stupid its not funny, hearing criminal and civil proceedings are looming YAY hope so ! I can understand businesses would want to seek compensation if they need deep cleans due to fools like this. Selfishness has been demonstrated everywhere in this whole ordeal.

+x+x+x+x+x+x+xSaw this woman 'doctor' in a video touted around facebook and twitter yesterday with the 'wake up sheeple' tagline attached. https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/health-problems/coronavirus-donald-trump-defends-his-promotion-of-doctor-advocating-hydroxychloroquine/news-story/8e4712d2b73e91e37bb089464b2e9141Of course Trump retweeted her to his 84.1 million followers.

That's right, especially considering there was many doctors that all got up and gave their reasons why they believe hydroxychloroquine works. For anyone sitting on the fence wondering if these doctors are right or wrong, I just believe it would be better off to show the facts that prove them wrong, instead of focusing on one nut case's personal views as evidence what she and the other doctors spoke about is garbage.

One of those doctors standing there was struck off in 2014. I'm sure there's a back story for the others there including their belief that they're correct despite evidence to the contrary.

“Hydroxychloroquine” trended on Twitter, as Immanuel’s video was embraced by the Trumps, conservative student group Turning Point USA, and pro-Trump personalities like Diamond & Silk. But both Facebook and Twitter eventually deleted videos of Immanuel’s speech from their sites, citing rules against COVID-19 disinformation. The deletions set off yet another round of complaints by conservatives of bias at the social-media platforms. Immanuel responded in her own way, declaring that Jesus Christ would destroy Facebook’s servers if her videos weren’t restored to the platform.
