I think you're misunderstanding my point I'm trying to make.

For arguments sake let's say there is a group of 50 doctors all claiming hydroxychloroquine is the cheapest, and most effective way of beating a virus.

You have 20 million people on one side believing this is compete nonsense, and on the other hand another 20 million people thinking it is true, with 10 million undecided.

What I'm saying is that mainstream media, and social media websites are better off focusing on why those doctors are wrong, instead of focusing on some fucked up unrelated beliefs on 1 doctor, and then ripping off that clip and censoring all doctors.

Now hear my reason for why it is better to not censor and educate people.

The 20 million that think it is all nonsense will remain with the same opinion. For the 20 million thinking it is true you'll atleast get through to some of them, and it is safe to say you'll completely get the 10 million sitting on the fence on board by showing the facts debunking the claim hydroxychloroquim is safe and effective.

Now on the other hand if you censor those 50 doctors and take off their clips, and ignore 49 opinions and mock 1 because of her beliefs you still have 20 million people that'll believe the doctors opinion is nonsense.

However the other 20 million will now be certain in their minds that what they believe is true, that's why it is being ignored, and or taken off. But more importantly those 10 million sitting on the fence now will most likely remain there, or worse jump on board because they didn't hear an argument against those doctors, instead they saw the clip taken off, and the doctor mocked for her fucked up beliefs unrelated to the topic.

That's just the way I see things. I have no fear of allowing someone a voice regardless of their opinion, especially when I have evidence at hand to easily prove them wrong with strong facts. And when I do have strong facts I'll use them to my advantage instead of finding ways to mock the person I'm debating with to make them look stupid.

So how about those two women from Brisbane who travelled to Melbourne, lied about where they had been and started potential clusters in QLD when it was almost gone from the state?

Let’s have a round of applause 👏👏👏

Great so now masks are the "in thing"

There are places in Victoria who dont have a single case who now have to wear a mask everywhere or risk a fine just because there is an outbreak hundreds of kilometers away

And a mask only stops stranger to stranger transmission when you are trapped in confine spaces for an extended period of time such as public transport or a queue. The type of transmission we can't even prove has happened

The other transmission such as household to household, shared accommodation, or work spaces (where people use the same facilities) ie- over 90% of cases, can't be stopped by a mask

This isn't a "second wave". It's an outbreak. And what we are seeing in Melbourne is failure to contain an outbreak which was supposed to be part of our suppression strategy and the reason for extending the initial lockdown for 4 weeks. And until the decision makers start to understand the actual virus and how it is actually spreading, it will continue to run rampant through Melbourne and eventually surrounding regions

If Australia is now going to start with masks every time there is an outbreak instead of trying to resolve the underlying issue then they'll just lose precious time on specious reasoning that could have otherwise been spent containing it

/end rant. Understandably pissed off right now!

I had no idea Clive Palmer had purchased hydroxychloroquine for Australians back in April.

Does anyone know if it has been used since then?

But I would like to know what it actually cost Clive Palmer to buy that much of it.

No idea. I can't work out how or why he would use that much of his own money to purchase something that can't be used.

Unless the whole thing is a lie or just badly exaggerated in numbers.

I've heard it is cheap but I doubt it'll be a small figure for 1 man to buy that whole amount.

Constant reports coming out of Victoria are over 100+ who have tested positive are not home when the ADF are door knocking.
Like honestly how dumb are we as a species to be continually doing this sort of shit?
Should be a jailable sentence or upwards of 20k fine for doing this.

The amount of tax payer and government resources being spent on a pretty simple message just isn’t being followed. It’s like watching your own self destruction right in front of your eyes.
Victoria won’t be having a summer at this rate.

https://www.health.gov.au/resources/collections/coronavirus-covid-19-at-a-glance-infographic-collection

Not sure if people are more interested in politics instead of data but I found a page that shows the virus data every day since 5 April so thought I would post it here

I'll give my 2 cents so feel free to skip the long rant if not your thing

The thing that in my mind definitively proves the change in social pathways this virus has taken is:
. 15 June (before outbreak) - 7320 total cases, ~370 children infected (5%)
. 31 July - 8983 new cases (since 15 June), ~1380 new children infected (15%)

Victoria's policies (which started with allowing 20 people in houses but keeping restaurants etc... closed) have clearly driven this virus outbreak into households which has resulted in more kids being infected than we saw in the initial infection wave where people were either compliant with lockdown and / or had a better life balance. It also adds interest to previous debates about whether kids can actually catch the virus

I was actually happy when I read that Restaurants etc... were going to stay open in the regional cities being locked down because if people are mingling in controlled and sanitised environments then the virus is less likely to spread than if they are catching up at home. A fact pointed out by Andrews before the Melbourne outbreak became unmanageable but one that was not acted on

The thing that concerns me the most now is that with mandatory wearing of masks for every Victorian every minute of every day for every activity outside of the house, people will opt to mingle at home instead of sitting on a rug in a park somewhere constricted by mandatory face wear. If common sense was to prevail the mandatory masks will be for public transport, stores and group gatherings only. Not for walking dogs or outings with friends / family. Because if my fears are correct the current policies are just going to drive regional Victorians into their houses, and force non compliance in the locked down regional towns. And with actual viral activity in these areas now we all know what the outcome of that will be...

Oh i agree but some people are so scared of losing their jobs and source of income they'll risk it. Hell I used to work with people who despite being completely unwell went to work. Until my old boss drove him to hospital because he was severely dehydrated and down with a virus . Never underestimate peoples fears.

So what are the stage 4 lockdown rules in Melbourne?

I mean are you allowed to drive 30 minutes to your favourite restuaraunt, your preferred hairdresser, and grocery stores you've been going to all your life?

Or is this also somehow considered irresponsible because 15 minutes from where you live there is a hairdresser you have to go to even though you don't rate him one bit.

Is there an actual rule of what the limit is for anyone to travel when buying things, not socializing?

Stage 4 in Victoria see what happens

Lockdown isnt a vaccine

If policy drives people to their homes then it will just spread where it is most dangerous - shared facilities. We'll also lose sight of it

I understand the anger at those doing the wrong thing but social contact is just as important as air, food or water. We can't get through the next 9 months by suppressing social contact but by working out how to continue social contact in a safe way. And thats where the Victorian government has failed

In fact this whole mess started when Victoria decided to stay in lockdown for an extra 3 weeks and instead encouraged people to have house parties instead of going to public and clean places

The other premiers will be foolish to start panicking and retracting the rights and life balance their citizens currently enjoy. 2 or 3 cases is not an outbreak and with the right balance it can easily be contained. As NSW have proven and as the whole point of the suppression strategy is. If you take away people's life balance then the only social option they will have is to spread the virus in households

The latest mandatory mask rule is just another example of a government that fails to understand its people and the situation. Faces are an important part of social interaction, emotion and expression. Toddlers even depend on them for learning. If the only way people can see each other and talk to each other is behind closed doors with nobody monitoring them, then the situation will continue to unfold, but this time in more places. Once again NSW has shown real leadership on the mask issue - a strong recommendation and in specific circumstances

If the treatment is worse than the disease then people will opt for the disease. Victoria is not a pleasant place to be right now
