I honestly feel sorry for all of you, especially the young kids who love nothing more than to be socialising and playing sport. 

Also I really feel sorry for the very old, especially those in nursing homes who look forward to visits from loved ones more than anything else. Instead they're stuck on their own without visitors, and therefore depressed with life. 

All over a disease that's killed less people in 8 months nationwide, compared with the death toll in car accidents in a single state. 

I haven't seen my grandfather since just early April   . He's getting angry because he hasn't seen his great grandkids from me and extended family.  He's 95 and isn't allowed out . My mum visits him . I'm blaming those who flouted the rules . 

I certainly can sympathise with the elderly.
This is quiet a generic statement but it does put things into context.

Your grandfather for example has lived through WW2, perhaps even directly involved in it.
Men of that generation pick up the pieces following the fallout of such a huge event and absolute bust a nut to rebuild the lives of their families.
They generally work that many hours during their working life they barely get to see or interact with their families let along have any form of 'work life balance'.
If you lost your job in those days there was no job keeper to keep you going with a generous weekly payment, there was no sick leave and who got 4 weeks annual leave for a yearly vacation with your family where you fly interstate?

If I worked that hard in life to provide a better lifestyle for the future generations I'd be utterly depressed and bitter if I had to live out my remaining years in total isolation from those you truly loved with no way of contacting them face to face.

In a way i'm glad my grandparents didn't have to live through Covid especially when they got ill.

The biggest joke about this whole thing is Vics can still fly into NSW providing they self quarantine. 

Fine,but here's the dumb arse bit.  They catch ubers, taxis or public transport to get to their self quarantine from the airport.  Well strike me down with a feather.  How long until a taxi or uber driver gets a positive and spreads it to every other bastard that climbed in the cab that day?

800 out of 3000 I heard today on the radio weren't home when checked.  And they're the positive cases.

Even if we do force those scummers into hotels they still have to get from A to B.  And that'll be via cabs or public transport.  They need to put them in a full body condom or something.

I dont want to downplay this virus but if you have a look at the data prior to the outbreak only 10% was where the virus had an unknown source. And it is likely that within that 10% there are linked cases that don't have a point of origin

If well over 90% of every case over a 4 month period can be definitively linked, then this thing isnt being transmitted in super markets, taxis, etc... Even at the start they said 15 minutes of contact over a 2 hour period

As you said, people with the virus have been going from transport to shops to restaurants but we dont have a 4 month string of random infections. What we see is infections in homes, work places, shared accom - ie- living spaces, close contact and shared facilities. We have seen instances where 35 people attended a wedding and pretty much everybody got it except for the staff. Even the recent spark for what is happening in NSW began with a Melbournian attending a work party

If all our focus is on the single figure % stranger to stranger transmission, then that just means we create conditions where the virus spreads where it is more potent. This is exactly what we saw in Victoria, and will only get worse as 75% of Melbournians will be confined to their homes

The side effect of keeping 95% of a virus at bay is learning to live with 5%. Schools will close, restaurants will close, work places will close, but the best part of the virus will be under control. And thats the way it will be for the next 9 to 12 months minimum

If 1 or 2 infections prompt border closures, hot spots, or you cant even take a shit without 14 days isolation then you'll just end up with non compliance. I think Australia needs to revisit its suppression KPIs because everything now seems to be aimed at total eradication

Fifo  Workers . And management doing meetings  . Yes there's zoom calls but at times higher ups need to be on a certain site for a reason. Like our ceo who's based in springvale but needs to get to our parent companies headquarters in sydney

Well forced quarantine now. I also don’t buy the management meetings. My entire company has gone Zoom, even the C suite in the US.

These locations where people have been that have tested positive in Sydney look like a decent pub & restaurant crawl.   

Some of the Vietnamese restaurants are the best around.

Cabramatta or Marrackville? Both offer some top notch Vietnamese cuisine.

The reason Dan Andrews won't say what went wrong at Melbourne's hotel quarantine has become clear. The job was given to a Sydney-based firm, Unified Security, because they were Indigenous.

This was under the Government's 'Social Inclusion Procurement' policy administered by the Victorian Department of Jobs. The Departmental Executive who awarded the work on the basis of Aboriginality had previously given Unified Security jobs when she was at the Melbourne-based charity, The Brotherhood of St Laurence.

Unlike two other security firms used (Wilson and MSS), Unified Security was not on the government's preferred panel of security suppliers. The guards were untrained and unprepared and the virus was allowed to spread out of the COVID quarantined hotels. Now Melbourne is a ghost town in lockdown.

Identity politics has claimed its biggest victim: all of Victoria, indeed the entire country, given the damage to the national economy.

Employing people on skin colour, not merit, was always going to be a disaster. All Australian governments do it but now the lesson is clear: taxpayers fund these services to get the best, most competent person for the job, not to hand out contracts on the basis of race, gender or sexuality.

I just once want to see Andrews defend himself. He's there every day for an hour or 90 minutes doing these press conferences with total transparency and zero spin so the media can have the opportunity to serve the public in a time of crisis and share the information and in return they give him pot shots like questions about having dinner with his family at home on his birthday to score political points. Hopefully the majority of Victorians are smart enough to see this blatant political hatchet job for what it is.

The whole strategy was to exaggerate numbers based on computer simulations and then try to keep an entire state under lock and key

After 1 week and with no data they declared mandatory masks a success so now they are a sacred cow and will be a mandated part of life in Victoria for the next 12 months. Then a week later they forced Melbourne into an even harder lock down and said they dont expect to see results for 10-14 days. Not to mention the blanket, lockdown across the entire state including further hardship in regions who dont have a singe case

There is political spin on all fronts unfortunately and the majority of Victorians who arent smart enough to understand complex and unprecedented issues are being led astray, and forced into poor decision making which they are then punished for

Virus takes a minimum of 5 days before people start to get tested and 5 days for results: minimum of 10 days to 14 days to see a single point of data

This isnt a political game. People's lives and way of living are on the line every single day. If no attempt is made to understand the problem then there can't be a solution because every approach made will just lead to a dead end
