+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xThanks. How about jobs overall (and not just manufacturing)? I'd imagine the US economy is moving to a services based one and would not be focused on manufacturing. I believe jobs overall had broken all records in recent times. Being a service economy, the US never really had an issue with professional jobs. Just only with the manufacturing non skilled sector. Here is a break down of all sectors. there are graphs like the one I posted above and most areas grew significantly except for utilities which was relatively stagnant but stable or slight growth. https://www.bls.gov/web/empsit/ceshighlights.pdfOverall, the Trump Administrations economic policies have worked. he delivered on bringing back jobs to America before the COVID derailment. It looks like the overall trend for manufacturing is consistent with total jobs (with the real driver in leisure and hospitality). The Trump tax reforms also only went into effect in January 2018, so there should be a lag in any numbers from that policy (which might not have impacted this trend at all). As sydneyfc1987 says as well, the trend is also fairly consistent over a 10 year period. Which makes Trumps job number even more extraordinary. When jobs are lost due to a black swan event like the GFC, the recovery is initially swift because you are employing people back who are the most employable. As you fill those spots you are left with more and more people who are less employable and that makes it harder and harder to get the jobless rate down further as quickly. In fact Trumps problem was not actually having enough workers to fill all the vacant jobs! Job Openings — Before the COVID-19 shock, a shortage of qualified workers was holding back hiring. As of the last business day of February, the most recent figure on record, the number of unfilled job openings stood at 6.8 million. At that point the number had grown 1.3 million — or 22.7% — since Trump took office. The number has been as high as 7.5 million as recently as January 2019, which was the highest in the 19 years the BLS has tracked this figure. The number of unfilled jobs has exceeded the number of unemployed people looking for work every month since March 2018. In late February — two weeks before the White House declared a COVID-19 emergency — there were nearly 1.1 million more job openings than there were people seeking jobs https://www.factcheck.org/2020/04/trumps-numbers-april-2020-update/Just look at all the other numbers in there as well- can't be denied they're impressive ( ignore the bullshit negative spin on everything by Factcheck.org though Pre COVID, the US economy was humming away nicely and Trump was going to win the election by just playing the economy card. Now, it’s much harder to tell. Yep it is harder to tell. It will be close. The problem for the Democrats is that should they win, they have actually have no interest in half the country that didn't vote for them- the deplorables as Clinton called them. You can't ignore half the country many of whom carry guns, and expect to keep it together. You can imagine what happens next.. I don’t think that’s the case. Biden is very bipartisan, it’s part of his appeal and dislike from the left. That was why half the DNC was Republicans. It was a signal. Exactly. He's the trojan horse to get more moderates to vote Democrat.. But he''s also going senile and the Left knows this. Their real President is his running mate. I can see Biden being a 1 term president given his age, so Harris is definitely in prime position to lead the Dems next time around. I wouldn't call her left wing though. She's as moderate left as they come. A lot of lefties/BLM etc criticised the decision to appoint her due to not prosecuting cops as district attorney.

😂😂😂 I never thought it was possible for anyone to be that stupid. We live in strange times when WaPo and NYT are more of a parody than The Onion or The Babylon Bee. Pretty good how he just talks about the charts and not the text around the article. Donald Trump’s appetite for baseless conspiracy theories scaled new heights on Monday when he alleged that people in “dark shadows” are controlling Democratic rival Joe Biden. The US president made a mysterious claim about “thugs” in “dark uniforms” flying into Washington and also compared police brutality against African Americans to golfers cracking under pressure. With the presidential election just two months away, Trump was interviewed at the White House by Laura Ingraham, a host on the conservative Fox News network. “Who do you think is pulling Biden’s strings?” she asked. “Is it former Obama people?” The president replied: “People that you’ve never heard of, people that are in the dark shadows. People that –” Even Ingraham, evidently sympathetic to Trump, interjected: “What does that mean? That sounds like a conspiracy theory. Dark shadows. What is that?” Trump insisted: “There are people that are on the streets, there are people that are controlling the streets.” The conversation then took an even stranger turn. “We had somebody get on a plane from a certain city this weekend,” the president said. “And in the plane, it was almost completely loaded with thugs, wearing these dark uniforms, black uniforms, with gear and this and that.” A puzzled Ingraham pressed for details. Trump deflected cryptically: “I’ll tell you some time. It’s under investigation right now.” But he added that his witness, heading to the Republican national convention, had reported seeing “a lot of people were on the plane to do big damage”. Trump’s claim appeared baffling in the absence of further evidence.
Geezuz.

"😂😂😂 I never thought it was possible for anyone to be that stupid." Frankly, I think the author of the article makes a pathetically weak argument. Maybe I shouldn't bite, but his main argument ignores the fact that there are many examples of safe cities all around the globe, including the world's largest city. New York is a classic example of policy affecting crime rates - compare New York under Giuliani (not that he's exactly perfect) to what we see now under the bumbling De Blasio.

Kudos for having a look. I'd have to look it up but it is likely that there's more violent crime in US cities than there are in a lot of other large cities. I don't think most of those cities are particularly tough when it comes to policing. None of this is what the article is about though. I did though have a look at the NYC crime rates and they look pretty steady compared to Giuliani times while population has increased as well. In fact major crime like seems to even have gone down. There's been a recent spike but we're also in some pretty unprecedented times at the moment so you'd have to wait a lot longer to make a call on that.

I mean where do you start with this latest bunch of revelations? Why, after being stitched up by the first book Woodward wrote, would Trump agree to 18 separate interviews with him? No wonder they were desperate for him not to be interviewed by Muller.

You couldn't make this shit up... https://www.politico.com/news/2020/09/14/trump-ad-asks-people-to-support-the-troops-but-it-uses-a-picture-of-russian-jets-414883The Trump Make America Great Again Committee is run by both the Republican National Committee and the campaign. An ad, made by the Trump Make America Great Again Committee, featuring silhouettes of three soldiers walking as Russian-made fighter jets fly over them. | A digital ad released by a fundraising arm of the Trump campaign on Sept. 11 calling on people to “support our troops” uses a stock photo of Russian-made fighter jets and weapons. The ad, which was made by the Trump Make America Great Again Committee, features silhouettes of three soldiers walking as a fighter jet flies over them. The ad first appeared on Sept. 8 and ran until Sept. 12. “That’s definitely a MiG-29,” said Pierre Sprey, who helped design both the F-16 and A-10 planes for the U.S. Air Force. “I’m glad to see it’s supporting our troops.”He noted the angle of the aircraft’s tail, the way the tail is swept far back, and the spacing of the engines, along with the tunnel between them.Ruslan Pukhov, director of the Centre for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies in Moscow, confirmed that the planes are Russian MiG-29s, and also said the soldier on the far right in the ad carries an AK-74 assault rifle. The Trump Make America Great Again Committee is run by both the Republican National Committee and the campaign. Most of the low-dollar and digital donations raised by the committee goes to the campaign. The image in the ad is a stock photo available on Shutterstock.com with the title “Military silhouettes of soldiers and airforce against the backdrop of sunset sky.” The creator of the image, named “BPTU,” says they are based in Andorra, but did not respond to a Facebook message. The MiG-29, a twin-engine fighter jet designed in the Soviet Union that first flew in 1977, is the Russians’ mainstay fighter jet and has been sold all over the world. It was developed during the Cold War specifically to counter American F-15 and F-16s, and the U.S. even obtained a few to play the adversary in war games. The planes have recently been spotted at a Russian air base in Syria and also Libya.Russia has also exported them to a number of countries, including North Korea, Syria, India and Uzbekistan. Iran also acquired 68 of the MiG-29s at the end of the Soviet Union. In 1997, the U.S. even bought 21 “nuclear-capable” MiG-29 planes from Moldova to keep them from getting in the hands of adversaries such as Iran. The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment. The RNC declined to comment.Politicians have gotten in trouble in the past for running ads or creating content that featured Russian or other countries’ military equipment. Last October, Rep. Brian Mast (R-Fla.) tweeted a picture of the Russian battlecruiser Pyotr Velikiy with the comment: “Happy birthday to the US Navy. To the men and women who serve to keep our waters safe, we thank you.” His office later took the tweet down.

It's crazy that any one of these things would have sunk another candidate.

+x+x+xI notice Trump is evens with Biden on Sportsbet. Looking even more likely the orange man will win again. Does anyone seriously think that won't happen? The only thing I haven't decided on is if this is the end of democracy in the US but they're definitely on that decline. So much cronyism and gerrymandering. My team wins- This is Democracy at work* My team loses-This is the end of Democracy. * Democracy manifest
There are only two intellectually honest debate tactics: (a) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s facts, or (b) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s logic. All other debate tactics are intellectually dishonest - John T. Reed
The Most Popular Presidential Candidate Of All Time (TM) cant go to a sports stadium in the country he presides over. Figure that one out...

I would pay serious money for a Trump inspired patriotic class textbook. Would be real life satire.

Ch-1 - The Deep State (and an explanation of how Donald Trump, one of America's most powerful oligarchs with connections to many of America's most powerful oligarchs, is somehow NOT part of, and works against, the deep state).
