Very interesting with McGree. Do Charlotte and Birmingham have the same owners?

A full MLS gig isn't exactly bad but I'd have much preferred Europe full time.

Adelaide wanted the transfer fee. Charlotte were probably the only ones willing to pay it. It works for all parties. He gets a full season in the Championship and if he performs well there’s a good chance someone might buy him from Charlotte. If not, he goes to Charlotte with a chance to dominate the MLS and get a move to Europe from there.

I have a feeling they should have sold him to the dutch club instead, going to the MLS doesn't seem like a great idea if the Birmingham move doesnt work out for him.

Hope he kills it over there and then forces an permanent move.

Brook to Brentford confirmed too, just hope Adelaide make some decent coin from these transfers.

Its a good example when a aleague club is fully focused on developing young talent, an example of other clubs to follow too.

Great move for "Apples" he had a great couple of seasons at Lakeside and was a fan favourite. Never will forget his "almost" wondergaol against Sydney in the FFA Cup Semi in 2017.... Real workhorse of a player, hope this bodes well for him.

Garbage is a little rough. He has a poor first touch and decision making in the final third is often a little perplexing but he has a huge motor and League One, I think will really suit him.

It seems like the positive to come out of the A-league's current issues is that the A-league is no longer the more comfortable 'safe' option anymore which is encouraging more players to take the risk of giving it a go in overseas leagues.

More Aussies abroad may improve the national teams chances longer term as there are more chances for some of them to make it.

And - more Aussies abroad leaves more opportunity for young Australians at home.

I don’t watch the youth team but Kebede seems to be scoring a lot. Apparently Dom Costanzo has been dominating since being released from our youth team as well.

Do you think the likes of Noah Smith and Yared Abetew could break into the first team?

Sorry mate, didn't see this the other day.

I'm a bit unsure of Abatew. When he made his AL debut he was very timid, and got subbed off due to a collision i think. He wasn't quite ready at the time, he hasn't played an awful lot of football recently (came back to the line-up last week) so i don't know whats happening with his situation.
As for Smith, i think he's a pretty good technician for a defender, but with Marrone, Jakobsen, Elsey, Kitto, Strain all pretty much rusted on starters it's pretty difficult for any young defensive player to get into the team, he's in same situation as Nunn and Walls.

A full MLS gig isn't exactly bad but I'd have much preferred Europe full time.

Its smart Investment for Charlotte FC, and should be looked at by A league teams, the only thing that might hamper this is loan salaries counting towards the cap.

Its a win-win situation for them unless Riley cops massive injuries.

Sign a quality young player, loan him out to a club and league where he will hopefully get game time and further develop.

Either they sell him for a profit with a sell on clause for any future transfers, or they have themselves a 23/24 year old starting midfielder who is primed to go for their first season.

This could work for an A league club, sign a youngster that is a possible A league standard type of player, loan them out to a better league, sell them for profit. Or have them return and you have yourself a player who is hopefully better than the youngster you signed. (I know I have over simplified it heaps)

But why aren't clubs utilising the international markets to get transfer fees for there foreign players? Besides Adrian Mierzejewski has any other club received a fee for one of there foreigners?

Kind of like what Victory did with Deng. We loaned him to PSV with an option to buy, they ended up chosing not to buy but we got a new improved Deng back who we later sold to Urawa (although probably not for much as he only had six months left on his contract).

The salary cap. A-League clubs can't make long term investments in player contracts within the constraints of the salary cap system meaning clubs are left letting players go for peanuts or more often for free. It's not even any good for the Mariners as they'd probably be the best at selling players both overseas and domestically. It's been a massive policy handbrake on the game for far too long and has done far too much damage. Iraq made more money from transfers last year than Australia.

Thats quite a drop down from where he was playing previously.  Wonder why he couldnt score a gig in the A-League?
Maybe he is a bit like Gavin De Niese - young and playing for reserves of big club makes us all excited but in the end he just isnt very good

Went from spells at a few different 3rd division portugese clubs to a short spell at a 3rd division Polish club, so I doubt he will be playing first team football with Maritimo. Do they have a reserves side or a feeder club they send their younger players on loan to?

Not necessarily that far down, no different really to the level Jacob Italiano, John Iredale and Christian Theoharous are playing at in Germany.

They have a B team that plays in the 3rd tier which is split into 8 regions so lots of teams. They also a U23 team which plays in an U23 competition, This is the league Ryan Teague has been playing in as Famalicão does not have a B team.

Deng's doing well, it appears. Even without him staying longer at PSV, to have success in the J-League is more than decent. Maybe the J-League has the quality of a mid-ranking European league?

Do you rate him as a starting central defender for the NT, paladisious?

Hes more of a technical No.6, quite surprising not any aleague club is willing to look at him.

Not easy to play in a country like Spain.
