Lanzini’s goal this morning wow one of the best I’ve seen a while I wish their were fans there to see it.

What’s the best goal you’ve seen live or in person?

I agree with this, best one ever. If we are talking live, Aloisi’s goal in the penalty shoot out that got us to Germany - I couldn’t breathe just before it, with 85,000 others, then want nuts.

The 30 pass goal by Argentina vs Serbia & Montenegro in the 2006 World Cup, pure art.

Dennis Bergkamp's goal vs Newcastle in 2003? comes to mind as well.

Correct answer!!!!

That goal, Roberto Carlos' free kick against France and Marco Van Basten's impossible volley against USSR in 1988 are what get played on high rotation whenever I want to show my kids what the human spirit can soar to with a soccer ball at its feet. :)

Best goal live was Joey Palatsidis in 1991 Grand Final against Melb Croatia .... beautiful through ball and half decent finish, not aesthetically the best Ive seen but it made me jump 4 foot in the air.......

More like 40 yards.

Most pitches are 55-60m to reach half way, I believe 60 is the EPL standard, so be at that range the shot would need to come from half way.

As much as i don't like him that cahill goal vs Nertherlands was pure class and incredible difficult,  and i believe his opposite foot as well. Easily the best by an Australian.

Its one thing to do something as a reaction but that ball took long enough that he had to think about what to do and could've done anything really. That i think is much more difficult.

Were you at this game?  I'm jealous. Must of been unbelievable.

Bit hard to pick a TV one (so many). Biased choice but I guess Timmy against Netherlands is hard to go past.

Live at the game I think I'll go with Luongo vs S. Korea. One touch, turn and bang. Brilliant goal.

I was trying to think of goals I saw in person. It’s funny how remembering the goals live I thought they were better than they actually were.

Like I was at this Vissel Kobe vs Sanfrecce Hiroshima game and I am pretty sure I described the 5th goal as a world class scissor kick into the corner when describing it to my mates

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKeEKBe20A4

honestly I don’t think I have seen any crazy goals in person. Most likely I would pick a Carlos Hernandez pearler from outside the box. If you count bullshit flukes maybe Dugandzic’s cross in Victory’s shit 4-0 loss to Hearts.

They are always better in your memory..... especially the ones you scored yourself..  After a few beers with the boys, that 6 yard tap in to win the game  20 years ago becomes an overhead scissor from outside the box. Hahahaha

I think Timmy’s goal in Brazil is the best ever goal scored by an Australian

Saw all 3 of those live and in person - think McGree's was the best for the sheer WTF factor but Timmy's the best technique wise. Obviously the Aloisi pen meant the most in the whole scheme of things.

Apart from those the best goals I've seen in person are Topor-Stanley's thunder bastard against Perth this season and this rocket by David Noble in the 2008 Championship playoffs (assisted by one Nicky Carle).

Probably means not a lot to most, but Jobe Wheelhouse's goal vs Gold Coast is the one I resonate with the most. Almost definitely a large part because he is a local to me, I played alongside him a mere year or two prior, and in particular that I was sitting directly in front of it and if there was no net there is every chance it would have hit me in the head! My personal positioning of watching that gave me a feeling I've never felt before or afterwards. The angle of the goal from behind the net does it the most justice, but still doesn't go close to what I felt that day!

This wouldn't even make it into the top 10 AL goals of history, but for me I always think of it.
